Clean, neat and very broad selection of music. Employees were very helpful and polite. Don’t sign up for the F.Y.E card, process took like an extra 15 minutes for a 10% discount and the card is only free for 3 months then they charge you like 11 bucks a month.

Stood in line for 10 minutes trying to check out with one cash register open. Ended up settings movies down and walking out.

It no longer is a big huge place for movie, video game, and music buffs to congregate…*sigh*.but it’s still awesome! I’m a huge vinyl freak! I have a rather extensive collection, and am always searching for more. I was afraid that making this place smaller meant taking the vinyls out or making the selection smaller. Much to my surprise, they didn’t and it has a better selection than what it did! I am happy! They still have a fairly good amount of what they used to offer, and am still thoroughly pleased. I’m a movie buff as well, and used to go here periodically to see what was on sale. Love the prices when on sale, not when they aren’t. Customer service is still banging, no change in that department.

OK, so they remodeled the store, what a disappointment, they could have done so many cool thing with a media store like this, but they didn’t. It is just a big cement box with metal racks and nic nacs on the walls, so they basically turned a store with some character into a generic box. They still have all the pop culture stuff and lots of CDs and DVDs but who really buys those anymore.

Not sure how or why they remodeled the store but either way the store had an extensive selection of movies not found in your average electronic/department store. The personnel working the floor are very knowledgable to the point where a movie buff would feel amateur. Really great if you are looking to extend a collection but, if you just looking for a common run of the mill blockbuster go to redbox.

Was a fan but now they are slipping. I loved going there because they have a huge store and lots of inventory but recently I’ve been having issues with them not having new releases in stock. With streaming Netflix and Redbox, you would think a store would have the new releases but the last two times I’ve gone, it took forever for them to search the store for one and the last one they only had an empty case, the dvd was sold out. Sold out? How is that possible? I’m begining to see the appeal of Netflix more and more now.

When my children/grandchildren are teenagers they will ask me about the good old days when people use to go to the music store and buy music. I’ll tell them all about CD’s and they probably will have never seen one. Ha. It breaks my heart that these stores are slowly disappearing, but with music downloads being much more gratifying in how quickly you can get it and hear it — it’s a fact of life. One day there may not be anymore stores like this. Sad. This place offers more than just music though — they carry electronic accessories, movies, music memorabilia, records(our children will really be impressed with that!), musical instruments, etc. Some things are very much on the overpriced side, but often you can find a deal here and there. Pretty nice store. I’m not sure about the customer service, and of course there is that other downside… you go there looking for a particular artist or album and it’s not in stock. So what do you do? Go buy it online.

FYE – The Artist Formerly Known as Planet Music’s pretty cool. It used to be privately owned – it’s been around in VB for quite a while. It was bought out a few years back(when it became FYE I guess) but it’s more or less the same. They sell CDs and videos and games – though there’s no telling how much longer any of the above will last. They have a huge selection, including a room full of used stuff. They have far and away the biggest classical music selection around here, which is a plus. I haven’t bought a CD in quite a while honestly. But I go in FYE occasionally and wander the aisles. I can’t be the only one, so I’m wondering how business can be all that great. Last time I went in there was a life-size poster of Justin Bieber up front so I had to leave.

I don’t know if I am reviewing the one that used to be Planet Music… but we’ll see?! I totally like FYE. They have tons of used movies and music. The staff is super friendly and they carry a lot of other stuff-Twilight merchandise, posters, and I just bought a cool Pac Man sweat band! It toally rocks! Check out their belt buckles too! I so want one of those. I am reliving the 80s or something. Also, they have sodas and candy for the sweet tooth in you. The only 2 things I would recommend would be-more cashiers!(Employees are nice… but more are needed at checkout), and I would also bring back what Planet Music used to have when they featured local bands or concerts that came to the area. I definitely miss that. Other than that… super!
