Sal’s Famous NY Pizza

My fav pizza place at the Beach. So good. Every time. Friendly customer service and piping hot pizza. Their specialty pizza are insanely good especially their Bianca florentine pizza. Delish!

The reason I give 1 star is because 0 stars is not an option. I ordered a cheeseburger add bacon and I got a burger with no cheese and they used bacon bits as the bacon. This is the first time i have never finished a burger because the taste was just plain terrible. Would never recommend this to anyone and definetely will never order another cheeseburger from this establishment.

First off, the deluxe Bianca pizza was fantastic, but there is much to discuss on the presentation/​delivery.
We decided to use the new Unilocal24 app to order from Sal’s. We have been getting the flyers for years now and decided it was time to try it out. The process was fantastic! I recommend the app. I was able to put in a tip with the bill to make things easy for the delivery. It was estimated to be a 40 – 50 min delivery.
After 90 minutes, our food showed up. The pizza box was bent and the driver seemed to awkwardly depart as if he was waiting for a tip. I don’t understand why the driver wouldn’t know the tip was already added. Anyways, the food was late, still warm, and part of the pizza was sticking to the tip of the box. And we also realized we didn’t get our root beer.
The sandwiches and wraps are very hearty, worth the price. The pizza was a bit pricey, I’d order a smaller size next time.
Everyone enjoyed their food. There is no doubt the flavor is there. Maybe this delivery was just an isolated event. We will order again in the future to see for sure.

I went by after work for dinner and ate in. I ordered a calzone with a side salad. The salad was fresh and just the perfect size. Actually better than the side salad at Macaroni Grill. The calzone was delicious. Perfectly cooked. Also ordered spaghetti to go which was a huge portion and smothered in cheese. Tasted great!!! Service was good, the waitress was very sweet and attentive. I will be going back.

It is very disappointing when you choose not to cook and order out on a Friday night. This place took over an hour longer than what they said to deliver our pizza and wings. We call on the status and we were told they were waiting on a driver and that our pizza was just sitting there. Really? We won’t be ordering from this place again. We should’ve ordered Papa Johns. :0/

What is going on? I normally order from you once a week and the last two times have been such a disappointment. I live less than 2 miles away and delivery took two hours. When the pizza arrived it looked like a frozen pizza that was over cooked. The Bianca is usually chewy and full of ricotta and drizzled with olive oil. Please fix it, I’m not asking for my money back I just want my pizza back! One more strike and you’re out.

Really enjoy these guys! I get delivery usually and have always received great service and food. Their lunch specials are priced just right and are always fresh.

I found this place while browsing around on Unilocal not to long ago. And let me tell you, I am glad I did! Their Stromboli are awesome, the canoli are delicious, and I am looking forward to eating more food from them in the future.

Man, I Love pizza!!! We had a Kellam High function we attended, and by the time we got out, it was literally 10 minutes until closing. We called in out to-​go pie order, and these fine folks didn’t bat an eye. As I go there, they were cleaning up but as opposed to being resentful of my last minute order, they were happy and chatty as I waited on the pie to reach it’s delectable done-​ness. So, as I too possession of my wagon wheel sized pizza, I could already smell the spicy pepperoni and awesome salty mozzarella cheese and I needed a bib! Finally, got it back to the house, and it was delicious! HUGE slices that required «the fold» in order to eat. The crust is exactly like I want it to be… just a little elasticity, with a crispy bottom layer. The pepperoni cooked on TOP of the cheese, so they get that bacon-​riffic burned rims… YUMMY!!! So good. I foresee that being the place for pie when we head out near the Courthouse next time for sure!

I normally order from here. I’d say once a week, the last couple of times it’s been progressively getting worse. I didn’t want to leave a bad review but after waiting almost two hours for pizza and wings it has to be done. Steady down hill. Pizza and wings were cold when delivered. I live less then 4 miles from sals. They said a hour took 2 and delivered cold pizza. I’m staying away from this point.

We ordered delivery last night: 18″ sausage pizza, bbq wings, garlic knots and orange Fanta. (Call of duty fuel at its finest. Am I right!?) The pizza was delicious, hence the 4 stars. The delivery guy seemed nice enough. Couple of cons though; the girl on the phone said it’d be 45min and it was about 1hr 15min. (No big deal). The garlic knots were hard, bottom looked burnt, top was just hard, but if you slather enough garlic and butter on an old leather shoe it’ll still taste alright. The wings tasted great and so did the sauce, the only con was I had to reach down into a to-​go box filled with bbq sauce and feel around to find the wings that were in there somewhere. Pros: we now have enough bbq sauce for two family reunions and I’ve started a bbq sauce wholesale company with just one order of wings!
The next time Kevin Spacey tries to take over the world with advanced technology I WILL be ordering from them again.

Pretty good slice. This was a NY style pizza. Not as big but in that style. I got a two slice special. This place is a decent b size and it looks as I’d they serve a number of Italian dishes. I’m not in this neighborhood that much so I don’t imagine I’d be back to try the other options. Good slice of pizza though.

Finally a decent calzone in Hampton Roads! I loved the sauce and the guy doing the baking was super friendly and a real Italian. Our waitress was friendly enough but seemed new to the business and more interested in gabbing with the staff than working. She also didn’t know the menu very well. So service was only fair but the calzones and their tomato sauce rocked!

As a New York native, I think I’m okay to say that this is not really New York pizza. I found it to be too doughy. But I don’t want to say that it isn’t good. It is! Tasty and well topped, I enjoyed two slices of the florentine-​style with spinach and tomatoes and a good amount of garlic.
Soda fountain available and a cooler with bottled and canned drinks. There might have been beer, but it was lunch time and I wasn’t paying attention to that.
I’d go back.

Great pizza joint. They have a super selection And make NY style pie. The wait staff has always been pleasant. One of the better pizza joints in virginia beach.

I’ve eaten here twice and both times it was great.
The first time I spilled my soda all over the place and the waitress was very nice about it and cleaned it right up. Their wings are great and spicy but I wish they came with celery. The margarita pizza is so good I could eat it every day.
It’s cute inside and our waitress was friendly. I will definitely be back for more!

I would rather use a full porta potty on a hot muggy day than return here. That’s how horrible my experience was.
Let’s start off by saying… the food ain’t bad, it just ain’t great. I normally don’t give harsh reviews but I left this place pissed.
We sit down. The waiter dude gives us a menu and leaves for 10 minutes. He then returns and asks us what we would like to drink… then leaves for another 10 minutes. Then he returns with our drinks and says he’ll be right back to take our order… then doesn’t come back at all.
Not sure what the hell just happened, the man goes up to the pick up/​take out window and attempts to order our food. Low and behold, the waiter dude is there taking to go orders on the phone. Looks irritated but puts the caller on hold (meaning he placed the phone on his shoulder) and asks us «what’s up?» The man then says, «I’d like to order your calamari appetizer, a lasagna, a side salad and a slice of your margarita pizza.» The waiter dude says ok and then continues with his phone call. The man looks at me and predicts the future as says, «He’s gonna screw it up.»
15 minutes later, the waiter dude puts onion rings in front of us. We politely tell him that we ordered calamari. 5 minutes later, my side salad comes out but the dude completely omits the man’s side salad. (You see, the lasagna comes with a side salad and garlic bread) Then the obviously previously frozen bland calamari comes out. 5 minutes later, the garlic bread arrives. 15 minutes later, my lasagna arrives and 2 minutes after that… the waiter dude places a slice of cheese pizza in front of the man and tells us to enjoy. :-/​The man looks up at me and says he’s tired of complaining. He folds the pizza in half and eats it.
We didn’t care to look at the bill when we left but I’m pretty sure we were charged an extra salad even though we didn’t order it.
I suppose what I learned from Sal’s is that the man related to Carnac the Magnificent.

This is the closest pizza joint to home so it is often a go to spot, either for pick up or delivery. Their delivery service is among the best in the area. They are always on time or ahead of the time they promised you.
But, the food is just passable. I don’t find it mind blowing by any means but it isn’t bad either. Its just a standard pizza joint with the usual additions to the menu like wings garlic knots and some pastas.
It serves its purpose when we both get home late and are too tired to cook dinner.

So my wife loves this place… after all, she did give it five stars. Every time we are near the court houses she has to eat here. The first time I didn’t care for it. It must have been an off day because when we went back it was awesome. My slice of pizza was great, the garlic knots were dripping with garlic goodness and the fried ravioli were crunchy and cheesy. I just wish I had room for a cannoli when I was done.

You want great pizza, this is the place! Crispy crust, super cheesy, the sauce has a great tomato flavor, and they aren’t shy about it at all! Now… The fried ravioli… One word, YUM! They have a good marinara sauce for dipping, and the portion is good size.
The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, the staff is polite and I have a good time every visit… And they deliver! They are not just open for the municipal staff, they do weekends, including Sundays! Well worth the drive out there!!!
