The Tailgate Sports Pub

Went to Tailgaters to watch the USA vs Columbia match. Wife and I had the nachos and the boy had the burger. Food was good, good selection of beers, but the best part of the evening was our waitress «Crystal. » She was the only waitress in the restaurant besides the bartender but you would never have known. It was a Saturday night, the place was pretty busy and she had a handle on all of the customers. We never had to wait for anything, she checked on us often and when we asked for the check, it was at our table in less than a minute. When you have a server that is that good, it makes the whole experience awesome. Will be back hopefully on a night when Crystal is working.

We discovered this place just the other day and have been here 3 times since ! Today for brunch and I’d definitely recommend it, friendly staff, great mimosas and great food! My boyfriend had the southwestern burrito and said it was so good ! We will definitely be back! Oh, they also have a bar with outside seating, great for this weather !!

Great spot to watch a game or just to hang out. The food is great and the people are super friendly. I LOVE their fries there!!!

It’s been along time since I’ve actually been to a bar. But I must say this was a pretty cool bar. Ample amount of TVs fairly decent food menu waitstaff was amazing and they even had truck beds as tables. For a small bar they have a great selection of beers from local breweries. I could definitely see myself watching a football game at this bar!

I went one aternoon 4 2 buds in a bottle.3.50 for a bud!!, at 2pm,. How about a happy hour, no wonder I was the only patron!

Great burgers, great apps, I would go anytime. The owners are always there ready to take your advice and make things right. I suggest you start with an order of 6 wings in any of their good sauces with a burger or philly cheesecake for a meal. I have never had a bad time here.

Great place to hangout for drinks and apps! The nachos and fake sushi were great! Portions were appropriate for the price! Highly recommend trying this pub! Its clean and close to town center. Staff very polite and knowledgeable, and willing to satisfied.

I have to say, this is one of the better, if not the best, sports bars in the area. It’s not very big, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality, both with their food and service.
Tailgate has been open since (maybe) the beginning of the football season, and my friends and I have made it a point to check out our favorite teams here. There are plenty of televisions to watch a myriad of games, and they air UFC events, which are always fun. Keep in mind, Tailgate usually fills up for UFC, so you better show up early — maybe just before prelims begin, just to be safe.
Their service has been consistently good. Their staff is friendly, accomodating and aren’t afraid to answer any questions you may have about the menu.
Oh yeah, and if you listen to local sports radio then you’ll probably see Nick Cattles in there from time to time. He’s Tailgate’s owner and is always chatting it up with the customers, most likely about sports. Definitely say hi to him because he won’t hesitate to talk to you and make you feel welcome.
In regards to the menu, Tailgate’s food is excellent. Albeit, it’s typical bar food but they spin some of the dishes to give them a unique take, and admittedly they have some of the best fries around. Tailgate offers what they call the «Tailgate Sushi Roll,» which is thinly-​sliced sirloin, creamy pepperjack and jalapenos rolled together inside of applewood smoked bacon. It’s not a traditional roll, but it sure is tasty. And based on my last visit (¹²⁄₂₆) they are very popular.
So if you’re looking to root for your favorite team, and you also want to enjoy good food and drink with excellent service, check out Tailgate. And be sure to take a minute to observe their unique flatbed truck tables, complete with working tailights. And when the weather’s nice, they have an outdoor deck. JV

I had no idea that my previous review from Tailgate had received the review of the day this weekend when my husband & I came back in on Sunday.
We wanted to catch the last ½ of the Seahawks game & grab some food. I noticed that the menu had changed since our last visit. The prices seemed a little higher and some of the menu items were missing. The Sunday specials were still the same. We both ordered a beer and service was friendly. We decided to split 6 spicy parmesan wings & the buffalo chicken dip.
I’m not the pickiest person, but I couldn’t muster of the courage to swallow this food. The wings were a weird texture of being crispy & slimy at the same time. I picked at one and my husband finished the rest. The flavor of the sauce wasn’t that great either. The dip wasn’t much better. The chips were okay.
We stopped for more food on the way home. I’ll come in for drinks & a game, but skip the food next time.

I’ve never been to an establishment in the Virginia Beach area that has an equal quality of food and ownership than here. The culture is fantastic, the food is great, the TVs are great for sports!.. I encourage everyone to come by and enjoy the atmosphere that I enjoy every time I’m here

Not sure what all the fuss is about. We read about this place in the Growler and decided to check it out for lunch. Homemade cheese sticks were good. Wings weren’t the best. Chicken was poor quality and both the garlic parm and hot garlic sauces tasted off — almost like a seafood taste. The fries were really good though. Since we came because of the beer I was surprised they only have a small (I’m talking maybe 3?) craft beer selection. The rest was standard fare and a small menu.
Our server was friendly but service was slow for it not being busy in the restaurant. If we go back it will be for the fries. :)

Decent bar with nice set up for football. The owner met me at the door and greeted me. My only issue was the mediocre food. I ordered cheese sticks which they say are homemade and they were still frozen in the middle.

Love this place, best fries, good drink specials, friendliest staff and plenty of tvs for football. Never been busy so far but it’s still fairly new and the word needs to get out! *Two thumbs up*

Alright, this is getting one star review for two reasons, neither of which are food or service.
My husband and I are huge college football fans, and we were looking for someplace to watch the game. The Tailgate showed up as a new sports bar on Unilocal,so we decided to go by. Honestly, we almost left right away because the location looked very shady. When we went inside, it wasn’t much better. The place didn’t have the most fun atmosphere — just sort of a redneck sports bar. However, we sat down and decided to give it a try. We ordered water, but before we ordered drinks we decided to ask about our game. Sadly, this sports bar that advertised as a place to watch college football did not have the SEC network. This is not the end all and be all for everyone, but if you’re going to show eight games on a Saturday night, you’d think they could invest in the channel that houses games for one of the most popular conferences, especially in this part of the country.
Again, I can’t speak to the food or service. We left upon realizing they didn’t have the game because, well, we wanted to see the game.

Was traveling for work, stopped in since there were good reviews. I had the hot wings and French fries, my buddy had the burger and fries. Great experience… Awesome service and great food. Wings were the best, fries were something I haven’t seen before. Fries were substantial and tasted great. They press their burgers daily, and it looked great. Great beer specials… Highly recommend this place. Check it out!!!

Awesome spot to watch football. They have great food and plenty of tvs. The nachos are incredible and HUGE. Like 4 of us split them. We got the pulled pork on them and they were amazing. The build your own burger was great too. Fresh beef and cooked to order. The fries were interesting-​the best way I can think to describe them is curly steak fries? So good. I only give 4 stars instead of 5 because they had the patio door wide open with people smoking outside and the stench of cigarettes was blowing inside. Otherwise great experience and would definitely come back.

I love that they are open for lunch! Try the Carolina Philly (which I order without whiz) — it’s delicious! Also, the fries are made in house and are awesome.

Great food, a ton of tv’s, Natty Boh on tap (you don’t see that often around here), and a great local atmosphere. Should be a locals favorite in no time.

First time in. Was in the area picking a friend up from work. Great atmosphere! We were created by the owners and they are oh so nice!!! Great drink prices. The owner kept giving us free food and drinks! You have to come have a drink with me!

Cool Sports Bar with good pricing and good bar food. Brat was good with nice roll and the Fish Tacos were excellent…, drink Prices and specials are worth giving it a try!
