Awesome burgers. They are very flavorful and juicy. Great atmosphere. Loved it. Will come back when we come through Waco again.

Amazing menu choices and tons of new meat to try, not just a beef burger available at this burger joint. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect with a name like«Twisted Root Burger.» *Be prepared to spend over $ 5 on a burger but it IS worth every last dime*

Pros: –My burger and fries were absolutely delicious –The way they ring up orders is unique and cool –You can customize your order Cons: –Only one register so lines can be long –Not a lot of seating for a restaurant that big –Usually loud and crowded Overall, isn’t worth it for the lines and price.

Can’t go wrong with any of these burgers really… The burger itself is perfect and that should be the main flavor anyway!!! The fries are great too but I just tried their sweet potato chips for the first time with the pb dip!!! BOMB!!! Be careful being the only one to order them at your table though because everyone will have to «try» them several times and you won’t get any.

I’ve been wondering about Twisted Root for a while here in Austin, but just hadn’t gotten around to it yet. On my way back from Fort Worth on Monday, I decided to stop into this location as it was conveniently located right off of I-35. The ambiance is dark with a micro-brewery vibe, has large projected tv screens high up on the walls, and funky artwork. You walk up to order, they give you a celebrity name,(mine was Hillary Clinton, and my friend’s was Barbara Streisand) and then you grab your drinks, and go and sit at one of their high tables, or around the bar. The cashier was friendly and helpful. There was plenty of seating, although we came in just after what was probably the lunch rush. Oddly, the kitchen was moving somewhat slowly and we waited over ten minutes for our burgers. The guy calling out the celebrity names was hilarious — he was a great addition to our experience. I got The Happy Pilgrim,(a turkey burger with goat cheese and plenty of greens) with a side of fries, while my friend got The Mexican Salad. I liked my Happy Pilgrim quite a bit — it had a lot of good flavor for a turkey burger, and as I said, plenty of greens — plus just the right amount of goat cheese on top,(sometimes it can be overpowering). It was juicy and cooked well. My fries were decent, although somewhat limp. My friend wasn’t as fond of her Mexican Salad — the vinegar was way too strong and it was literally a burger chopped up on a bed of greens with meager amounts of promised accompaniments,(corn, black beans, relish, etc.) but she thought it was alright. I’d definitely come back here to try other things — I really do think though, as an Austinite that Hopdoddy has Twisted Root beat on flavor and quality.

Went here shortly after it opened and was immensely disappointed. The parking was horrible and so was the food. Gluten free buns were served ice cold, the burger was dry and over cooked and the fried inedible. I will not be back.

I’ve been to Twisted Root twice, once when it first opened and then a week ago. The first time I went it was packed which was to be expected and service was slow but the food was great! After going a second time when it was less busy I can say that this is my new favorite burger joint. Staff was friendly, service was fast, the atmosphere was fun and inviting, most importantly the food was delicious! We got the freshman 15 burger and the happy pilgrim, suuuuuuper good! 10⁄10

Update: On top of everything else, my date had horrible stomach problems for the rest of the weekend. I’d hope it wasn’t from TW, but with how awful her salad was, I wouldn’t bet on it.

Got the black bean and quinoa burger. Excellent. Great was fantastic. Fries were also excellent Many different types of pickles available including my fav bread and butter. You had to ask to get tomatoes. Lettuce and onion come automatically. They make their own bread and root beer The root beer is excellent. It does have caffe iv in it.

Probably one of the top places to eat in Waco. Nothing here is healthy, so now we got that out of the way. The different style of burgers here is great. Different choices of meats to choose from. Great selection. I love the way they call out your name, very non Waco like.

This is a must stop in Waco as my wife and I visited 05÷13÷16. The burgers, fries and onion rings were great and the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. It’s funny listening to all the names given to people as their orders were called. The only negative were that the chees fries were not so great but the overall experience is still a 5 star rating.

Came to twisted root burger because of the over the top art on the building. Walked in and discovered you order then sit down. The burger menu is detailed and informative. Always a good sign when they have wild game burgers and eggs on burgers. Paw paw(pictured) got the All American burger(bacon cheese burger). I got the Ranch Hand. Pretty neat the give you fictional names to call your order and they have specialty pickles(atomic, ranch, etc.). Service was great, fries were well seasoned but cold and the burger was definitely worth coming back. The patti was seasoned well, not dry by any stretch and made paw paw and I full. Only paid $ 22.00 for two burger meals, so not bad. Right off the freeways so very easy to get in and out. I would recommend Twisted Root. I will come back to try a couple other burgers that caught my eye while skimming the menu.

Awesome place to stop by and eat and take a lot of photos of the outside of the building! Who ever did the art work on this place is amazing! The building looks especially cool at night! Its surrounded by lights that make the entire structure pop! The food is good and this place rocks for big groups too! You will see a lot of Baylor people here as well, but it is a good place to come eat for all ages! And of course don’t forget about their famous pickle bar!

I had seen and heard really great things about this burger joint and decided to check it out one day for a late lunch when in Waco. We stopped by around 2pm on a Saturday and this place was surprisingly busy! We literally spent 40 minutes on line waiting to order the food– at that point it wasn’t worth getting off the line. I really liked the different set up of tables to pick from, and even though they seemed pretty full, once you finished placing your order there always seemed to be a free spot. If the line had moved faster then this wouldn’t have been possible– I guess this is why there was only one register. The burger I got I believe was called«Freshmen 15» and was darn good. I wasn’t a fan of the onion strings– which were just soggy fried onion rings. It was also quite funny they when your order is ready they hand you a card with a famous person’s name. My Fiancé was Bruce Wayne, and I was Monica Lewinsky– wish I had a better one, but oh well. Anyway, we both enjoyed the burgers and his fries were pretty awesome. They had a spicy ketchup I was also a fan of. The condiments and the lettuce/onion were on the side so no worried there. Overall, two burgers, two sides and 1 drink was about $ 26, so not an everyday lunch joint at that price. But a darn good burger. We will come back to this chain, I hope to try the Dallas one soon since we live pretty close.

Love Twisted Root. Their burgers are delicious and served fast. However we ordered wings and the rest of the table was almost finished with their burgers before we even got the wings. Got to finally try kangaroo, a little gamey, but flavorful. This location is a bit bigger than the Roanoke location, but it is on Waco. Love both places!

Food poisoning… I drove in from Houston with the family to enjoy a couple days at Baylor and thought this would be a good place to eat. Little did I know that it would ruin the whole trip. The positives to this place is that it is a creative and fun building. It has 4 huge projector screens showing fun and not lewd content for families. The drinks and food TASTED great. I really enjoyed that burger until the food gave both my wife and I food poisoning. That’s right food poisoning. And there’s no doubt. We both ate it and we both got sick around the same time that same day. How horrible! It ruined the the whole trip. My poor daughter was confined to our bed & breakfast room(while mom and dad got better) instead of playing at the Baylor on campus event.

Not only does Twisted Root have the best burgers ever but they have homemade Root Beer! And it is out of this world! Definitely can tell it is an old movie theater, might be a little loud for some, but I didn’t have a problem with it. Once you order they hand you a piece of paper with either a celebrity, movie character, or cooking ingredients. Which they use to call over the intercom to notify you to pick up your food at the front counter. Such a fun experience with great food!

Love this place! Great burgers, great atmosphere, fun fun fun. Went to the zoo today and stopped by for lunch with a party of 10. We got our food fast and it was good. Great shakes, sh room burger, fried pickles. The best part is they give you fake names for your order. Nothing better to hear LL Cool J to let you know your order is ready

Such a fun and playful atmosphere combined with amazing food and tones of eyes candy. Very funky place from the tea too the walls. The burgers are too die for and make it a must stop. I loved the original names given too you instead of using your own. Very creative and yummy

First off… with 2 cranky, restless kids, this was a pleasant distraction. Very kid friendly atmosphere, while not being chuck e cheese. There was so much going on, they forgot all their whining. First glance– 4 gigantic screens, two playing music videos full blast and two for sports. Packed with a long long order line. Should have gotten here earlier. Sigh. Sit down– luckily grabbed a table while husband goes to order for all. I go to bar to try their own brand whisky, bc kids. It was decent… wouldn’t purchase a bottle. Back to kids. Food– ordered the veg burger with blue cheese. Very hearty but also over salted. Saltiest blue cheese ever. Did they salt the salt? Fries over salted too. Meh. But not terrible. Also no real kids menu. I suppose for a city as drab as Waco, I can respect that this place exists. Definitely needed. But trust all the previous reviewers… this is just an okay place.

Really cool place. The burgers are fantastic, the beer is cold with a good selection and their version of a Moscow Mule is really good. Great onion rings and their chips are really good. Huge TV viewing with sports and music videos. Fun atmosphere and friendly staff. On the downside, it does take a while to get your food and bar drinks and it is a little on the pricey side for what you get. Hint; you will have a shorter wait if you order your food from from the bar rather than standing in a long line, just don’t let your wife catch you checking out the cute little bartender.

Fantastic atmosphere – meal itself leaves a bit more to be desired. I love the aesthetic of this place – an ideal locale for a game-watching party with the four huge screens. I love the added touch of the assigned character names to declare your meal ready for pick-up(Lisa Simpson! Bill Clinton!). My burger was tasty, albeit a bit too spicy(menu didn’t denote spice in any way)… fries were good. We stopped by for lunch when the place was pretty busy, so we opted to sit at the bar. Our service wasn’t fabulous – but we chalked it up to a busy lunch hour. Maybe some of these kinks will get worked out as they establish themselves in Waco.
