I took my husband there this morning for his first time. He had never been. We both enjoyed the ambience, friendly service, and delicious coffee drinks. It was the morning after a 12 inch snowfall. The Mocha Monkey hit the spot! There are many options for non-coffee drinkers as well. Don’t miss the ice cream and gelato, and a variety of sandwiches good for anytime of the day.

Great little coffee shop. Nice to sit by the fire in the winter time and visit with friends or get work done in a quiet area.

Excellent coffee, quaint little house, friendly service, free wifi and plenty of places to chat with friends in a comfy chair or work at a table. I needed a place to work and take some calls before meeting my family on the boat. What a great find. I’ll be back for a sandwich and gelato with my family next time!

Rhesus monkey mocha. Don’t question me. Just do it. If you like chocolate and peanut butter it will change your life. The end.

I am a self-professed coffee addict, and love nothing more than a good afternoon in a coffee shop just about anywhere… But I haven’t found anything I like as much as Mocha Monkey. Should I ever open a coffee shop, it would be based on the likes of Mocha Monkey. The ambience is perfect– chill and incredibly cozy with a distinctly artsy vibe. That said, their food offerings are delicious and their WiFi actually works. I stop in every chance I get, which literally means I’m here once or twice a day every time I’m in town. This café is a must do for any coffee shop fan(or non; they have wine!) that happens through Waconia.

Ambience relaxed… maybe a little bohemian. Staff friendly and efficient. Food superb. They do more with a panini maker than others with a full-sized kitchen. The vegetarian sandwich on a ciabatta roll was flavorable and fantastic. Soft, hot, feta and spinach pretzel was mouth watering. Hot tea. Sorbet bursting with flavor and palette cleansing. I forget the name of the vanilla ice cream/expresso float… you getting the idea now? Not the same-o. All this goodness enjoyed in cut-offs, tank top and sandals! Can’t wait to return the next time I’m in the area!

I absolutely love this place. They go above and beyond for customer service here, and the staff are so friendly. The owner is also an artist and his pottery can be found throughout the shop, it’s unique and beautiful. Mocha Monkey is Waconia’s gem. Keep up the great work MM, I’ll see you soon for my zebra w/soy. :)

Very cute, quaint coffee shop. Prices are much cheaper than Minneapolis prices so that is a bonus. The food looked delicious. I will stop in again when I’m out that way!

Such a cute coffee shop! Love that they have food options, I will definitely be stopping back in again for lunch or a light snack. There are two floors but I never made it to the second level, I was too sucked into the cozy fireplace and available magazines. I had the Samosa Mocha, inspired by the girl scouts cookie, it was delish! Prices seemed reasonable to me, no different than going to a chain café. My little one liked reading their kiddo books. Can’t wait to come back!

Love this place! I meet many people here for business and I enjoy myself tremendously! Live music, good coffee, soup and sandwiches, as well as gelato for those with a sweet tooth. The coffee is always fresh, and I have yet to come away unhappy.

The Mocha Monkey is a fun place for people of any age to hang out and enjoy the awesome tea, Italian ice cream, and occasional music. There are many places to sit, upstairs and downstairs, and the American Pickers have been there. I highly recommend going to the Mocha Monkey, you won’t regret it!

Great coffee, great people, and great atmosphere! A little pricey for coffee but the hand made mugs and plates if you’re staying are great, lots of comfy seating and the coffee and food have always been delicious. Lines can get pretty long in the peak hours, but it’s the worth the wait.

If you ever find yourself in Waconia(God forbid… JUST kidding), you NEED to stop at Mocha Monkey. If you aren’t thirsty or hungry, stop in to see how a coffee shop should really look! This place is amazing! Couches downstairs AND up. YES! An upstairs. With more than 3 rooms to pick from up there! I «worked» from a nice leather couch for an afternoon this week, as I was meeting people at Lola’s on the Lake(check out that review too) later on that night. My afternoon on the couch could not have gone better. I never once got kicked off of the Internet. The grilled cheese that I had was unlike anything I’ve ever had. It was on what appeared to be, a sandwich bun… but hey, that’s ok, because it had grill marks and it was nice and cheesy! And hot! The iced coffee put me in some sort of drunken state, but that’s fine, considering I was on the world’s longest conference call. Love me some Mocha Monkey.

Meh is right. This place brags about being green, but they serve your drink in a paper cup unless for a mug. The kids working the counter were not knowledgeable. They serve wine as well, but not until after 5PM, what gives?

Best coffee shop in the area. It stands out as a classy café in a small town area. If you are walking dowtown Waconia you’d be a fool not to drop by and get something there. Great experience and plenty of room! Check it out!

If they had t-shirts I’d buy one. What could be more welcoming on a icy, snowy day than to enter this steamy palace of coffee? It’s in an old house in the middle of town and it’s decorated artfully with a comfy downstairs and an upstairs space, too. They have a hot chocolate drink called the Dirty Snowman. They serve wine and make tasty sandwiches. The coffee is really good, too.

As a designer who telecommutes, I sometimes like to set up shop in a coffee house or something for a change of venue. As a designer with kids who are occasionally at home during the day, I sometimes NEED to get out of the house. Mocha Monkey is perfect for that. It’s built into an old house right in downtown Waconia. One reviewer noted«the kids working the counter,» which is true later in the day, but from morning until 3 or 4pm the counter is staffed by three or four wonderful ladies. They’re friendly, funny, and really know their stuff when it comes to food and drink. I usually go for the«bottomless mug» option, as I’m typically there for several hours. They also have fancy drinks, beer and wine after 5, pastries and cookies, sandwiches(including really good baked pretzels with cream-cheesy filling inside… trust me, the taste better than I make them sound), and gelato. Yes, I said gelato. They’ve got several flavours, and they’re all good. If you’ve never had gelato… well…you just haven’t lived yet. There is seating on the main level, including some nice, comfy chairs by a fireplace. Upstairs has a couple of nice couches, plus tables and chairs spread through four rooms. There are plenty of books to read if you’re just hanging out, and free Wi-Fi as well. The only downside is that there aren’t really any quiet nooks or crannies where you can go if you need them. Sometimes I need to participate in conference calls, and it’s always a crap-shoot as to whether you’ll have the room to yourself or if you’ll be forced to share it with a couple of moms with loud, whiny toddlers who stomp around and drop their toys(as was the case today). Stop by if you’re in the area. Chances are you’ll like it.
