Our meal was beyond delicious. My husband and I shared the cheese plate and it was amazing. The waitress told us the chef was very excited because the honey for the cheese plate was harvested by his bees. Our meals were just as amazing. When chefs put their love into planning their menus and meals Iike raising bees just to have local fresh honey… You know your going to have a good meal.

Once again, La Plage did not disappoint. The staff was as friendly and professional as always. Our dinners were both delicious. I had the filet, cooked exactly as requested. My wife had the bacon wrapped shrimp, prepared very nicely.

The freshest tasting lunch I have had all year. Would go more often but its a little off the beaten path. Would have given 5 stars if not for the house with e price if $ 10 per. But 5 stars for the food and service. Flavors just exploded with each bite due to the fresh herbs. I had the Fluke!

Came here for a birthday celebration and the food was amazing. Wasn’t sure where to go so I googled best restaurants on Long Island and La Plage came up. Both me and my better half were thoroughly satisfied with each course. Finally, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and I also like that it was nestled in a nice beach town community.

Exceeded expectations! Service was so warm and attentive(Kelly was our waitress). Started with cocktails and bartender came to check if we liked everything. Got 3 courses each, and everything was fab. A mix-up with one dish but they were very gracios, apologetic, and fixed it appropriately. Dessert was fab too. Definitely coming back!

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the outdoor patio with the ocean breeze. Highly recommend this spot! The service was wonderful and the food/drinks were fantastic. Try the jalapano margarita! It’s very fresh! 5+ stars!

The service was very good considering it was a busy Saturday night. Had the carmelized scallops which were tender over a fennel purée and others had the poached lobster completely out its shell served over a Manchego cheese orzo and butternut squash. Just lovely.

I had the branzino and it was amazingly perfectly cooked. The service was polite and attentive. This place is near the water and even better yet they gave me a 10% military discount. Definitely going back.

What an amazing dining experience. My husband and I are in love with LaPlage. They have some exotic choices which never seem to disappoint, and also some really great staples. Wonderful drink specials and desserts and the staff is super friendly. We find ourselves coming back often.

Over-rated. In a word. I was not blown away by the food. Maybe if you’re a big time seafood aficionado. Otherwise. Eh.

Great French restaurant on the shore in Wading River! Everything here is great! The caramelized scallops are fantastic. They also have great soups and desserts.

I had the apple salad and loved it! I wanted to order three more. Then I had pan seared scallops, they were cooked perfectly and seasoned just right, so I could really enjoy the flavor and texture of the fish. Our group then had basically every dessert, all were delicious, but it was the fruit crumble that stood out. The service was attentive, but not annoying like some places that over do it. La Page served an amazing dinner I will not forget.

By far our favorite place on the north shore. The food, service and scenery are amazing. The chocolate banana bread pudding is by far the best dessert I have ever had.

La Plage Is a staple of mine on Long Island. When it’s warm they have seating out front next to a lovely little planting on a stone wall. I’ve been coming out to the island for 6 or 7 years now and have sadly realized that there is a dearth of restaurants that offer a dining experience. La Plage is a bright spot here. It offers a refined classic menu rooted in French and Italian styles, lovely presentation and charming staff. It’s not a cheap date but a rewarding one. It also has a solid wine list. One very surreal aspect is that it lives in the shadow of the defunct shorham nuclear plant the main building of which is massively out of scale with the otherwise beautiful wetland grasses. I guess it wouldn’t be America without some contradictions.

Sometimes in areas relatively isolated from a multitude of fine dining opportunities, a mediocre establishment can be named«the best around» not because of quality, but because of an absence of competition. Sadly, this is the conclusion I’ve arrived at. Is the location good? Absolutely. Is the plating beautiful? Yes. Could the ambience be conceived by many as romantic? I would have to say so. However, where La Plage excels in image, it falls behind in flavor and technique. The meal began well with a crisp and delicious tart apple salad, but the meal quickly unraveled when the entrees arrived. My dates tuna was severely overcooked(dry and well-done), an amateurish mistake which in my lowly opinion, would alone warrant a negative review. I ordered linguini with scallops, shrimp, and mussels in a «spicy» red sauce. In actuality, the dish tasted like bland condensed tomato soup with mollusks and noodles, and was virtually inedible. Because I was mortified at the thought of sending both entrees back, my date and I somberly ate our respective meals as though it were an obligation. Dessert was unremarkable. In terms of value, even if its relatively hefty price tag were halved, I would be hesitant to return. I have heard many very positive things about La Plage from many people I trust, though based on my experience, they seem very hard to justify.

La Plage is back and better than ever! Wow! Many of you may argue that they never left but for someone who’s been there North of 10x in my life, with the first one being over 15 years ago, they’ve had their ups and downs food wise IMO and they are definitely not only on their way up, but killin’ it right now. And here’s why: Apps: + Roasted Bay Scallops. $ 15. Sweet Butter /Fresh Herbs /Caviar. Served in their half shell, fantastic… and beautifully presented. It’s all about the sweet butter… + Creamy Rutabaga Soup. $ 10. Honey Crisp Apple Purée /Rosemary Croutons. When was the last time you had rutabaga soup? It’s been forever for me and the soup really hit the spot… especially on a nice crisp evening. The apple purée was a nice touch… not something you’d immediately think of, but the apple sauce’esque flavor was just awesome. Croutons were good but I don’t think it really needed it… though from a texture and herb perspective, I see why they did it. Entrees: + Ancho Braised Lamb Shank. $ 31. Squash Risotto /Swiss Chard /Toasted Walnut Gremolata. My picture I’ve posted on the review is worth tens of thousands of words… the lamb shank fell right off the bone with a little touch of your fork, the squash risotto was exquisite, and the chard was great accompaniment under the lamb shank. It was a much needed green as well as an Earthy/hint of bitter flavor that the dish needed due to the richness of the risotto and the shank + Butter Poached Lobster. Baby Bok Choy /Mascarpone Orzo /Yellow Squash /Black Sesame Ginger. $ 43. It was a 1.5lb lobster butterflied and served(half) on top of the risotto and the bok choy. The lobster was perfectly cooked(and just succulently undercooked) with the risotto providing the much needed richness that lobster craves. The bok choy was good as well… great dish, and very filling. + Pan Roasted Branzino. $ 32. Chorizo sausage /sardinian cous cous /roasted peppers swiss chard /little neck clams /saffron. We ordered it extra crispy and mannnnnnnnn was that skin delicious. The cous cous was perfect as well as the sausage that provided the much needed salinity to this dish. Thankfully, they didn’t over salt anything and in fact, only had some nice finishing salt on the extra crispy skin. All together, the dish lent itself well to the salt from the cured pork meat(chorizo) sliced on your plate… + Evening Ravioli Special. $x.xx($ 25 – 35?) Fantastic squash filling /ravioli(IIRC), perfectly undercooked(al dente obviously) and topped with grated cheese, chives, and pulled beef. Soooooooo delicious… that ravioli just hit the spot. You don’t need to eat more than one(you can if you’d like) to have it just hit all the right senses… Location: + Yes, they have their own parking lot, it’s located steps from Wading River Beach(hence, La Plage, which means«The beach» in French, how fitting). They feature a nice sized welcome bar in the hostess vestibule area for which they can whip up some great cocktails for you that are priced decently. Not the usual $ 16 – 18 you pay for Longuyland cocktails nowadays… There were 3 of us and we split several dishes as you can see… we ordered a bottle of Grgich 2010 Cab Sauv for $ 130(IIRC) and managed to spend almost $ 600 for the evening. Very pricey, but very well worth it. Make sure you sit with KELLY and tell her I sent you — she’s a fantastic server! The best I’ve had at La Plage… THIS has been a review by Gaurav

If I could give it 6 stars I would. The location is beautiful, but the truly beautiful thing is the gourmet food. La Plage has the best food I have had on the island, Michelin Star quality food, and as you can see from my reviews I have eaten at some really amazing places, the best places around. The food is perfectly seasoned, perfectly portioned, perfectly served. The drinks are spectacular! The wine selection is very good. The service is wonderful. There is simply nothing that isn’t absolutely wonderful about this place… except maybe the far drive for most of us. And the fact that the GPS may not be so great at taking you to it won’t help much.

This cute simply decorated wonderful little place is our new favorite. We had been trying to find something to match the delicious french food we had in Vermont and this place smashed it on the nose… and topped it. We love the beautiful serene location in front of the water. The calming elegant but beach-ish décor is wonderful. The place is immaculate. Our first time we were there we were blown away by the food. On our second visit Stephan our server, a delightful guy… you can literally see the intuitive passion he has for this exquisite food he serves. I loved that he remembered us and seemed delighted we were back. It is never an overkill he has a humble professional and warm personality and it shows his obvious years of experience in the art of cooking and feeding people. We always have the cheese plate– It is just mouth watering. There is a small dish of honey and sliced green apples to compliment the cheeses he selected and wonderful crostini to deliver it to our mouths… Before we even get that he already has place a hot fresh crusty dinner roll with chive butter in front of each us. We love to listen to his description of the food he understands what he is expressing so well. Also, he remembered I am allergic to mushrooms and knew just how to replace the flavor appropriately. I always have the duck or braised short ribs with chive risotto and truffle reduction he makes special for me since i cant eat the mushrooms I love so much. my picky Husband is so enthralled with the pan seared bass special he had that day, and he is very picky with fish. It is almost impossible to prepare fish the way he will like it but I cant forget him saying«This is what fish is supposed to be like!!» He is a man of few words so that was major. Last but not least… the dessert… its fresh, they make it there and OMG the CREMEBRULEE …I had to pinch myself and make sure I didn’t die on the way there without realizing it. Stephan is an awesome person and on our last visit he even decided to slip in an extra course and surprise us… it made me feel that he loved our love for his fresh beautiful food. It was a scallop, I cant even remember what ingenious thing he did because it went down so fast and was unbelievable… the fact he did that special for us just made me love him that much more. I don’t know even what it is with this place… we have had a lot of good food in life but I think sometimes, when all the right elements come together in one place it becomes nothing short of bliss.
