Best shave ice on the island! We came here three times on our trip. We are definitely coming back again. Jia and Jhon Rhee are so friendly and make the best shave ice! Highly recommended!

The best shaved ice my family and I have ever had! Every place we have had that has shaved ice has not even compared to this place. Hope we can be back soon!

My daughter convinced me to indulge and WOW! THIS will now be where I bring any family or friends, no need to drive to Haleiwa for shave ice. The small size was just right. I had root beer and vanilla flavors. Grandpa enjoyed a strawberry single flavor. Picked up a halo halo to go for my mom. Excellent!

I was on Unilocal and I asked my boyfriend«where is this place» he told me it’s the place I took you to get shave ice but instead they had UBE ice cream and you wanted that. I said«OMG, I can write a review» lol. I love the UBE Ice cream it was so ONO& my nephew got a small shave ice that looked super huge. He was excited & happy. I will be back again. Thankyou babe for taking us here!

I love this little place! I have been craving for halo halo for a long time and since it was a hot day I decided to scoop up my daughter and niece and take a little drive to Maili(a whopping 10 minutes away lol). The kids each ordered small rainbow shave ice. You can choose up to 3 flavors. And of course I ordered my halo halo. The shave ice was actually bigger than expected. The girls were happy about that. Then the halo halo came out and it was very delicious. Lots of good stuff at the bottom when other places give more ice and little of the good stuff. They also gave a generous sized scoop of ube ice cream. We initially planned to take it home but we ended up sitting on the picnic bench outside to enjoy our goodies. We left very happy! This place is a wonderful little gem in the heart of Maili. It has a plethora of snacks, ice cream, shave ice, drinks and even filipino goods and some groceries. Cute place and we’ll definitely be back again and again.

Great shave ice and the medium was huge! Only thing was I wished they took card also instead of cash only. Perfect place to go after the beach.

I love this shop… you can find almost all your necessities at the shop. Cooking, frozen, baked goods. I go there for their shave ice and ice cream. Their prices are reasonable and the sizes of their shave ice is huge. We can’t finish the small. I got both of my daughters small shave ices and next time I told them they will share a small. I got a scoop of ube ice cream and boy was that good as well. I was looking at their shake menu: snickers, cookies n cream, butter finger, chocolate!!! I want to try a shake the next time. The lady Jean that works there is really nice and personable too! I’ll be back soon!

The name of the store is «Dan’s Maile Shave Ice»(see picture). Weird location for shave ice but wow, outstanding place. The lady that runs the store is super nice. And she makes some of the best shave ice on the island. My wife has the halo halo, which is also very good. For me, shave ice is da bomb. I think the large is $ 3.50 or $ 4. Well worth it – and huge. Medium is really the right size as it’s plenty big. Go, you won’t be disappointed unless you arrive after closing time.

My first time into the store, you can tell it’s run by a Mom and Pop! Stocked shelves with snacks, drinks, golf supplies and items to weather the storms! First order of business — Halo Halo! I was told by some from friends, «Hoku…you need to try their Halo Halo! It’s the bomb and it has lots of fruit!» So what do I do after they tag me to a photo… go buy one! The wait process took a while — 10 min roughly due to the other customers that previously cake before us and that they had to make more cups.(I know it was you — Brea! The lady said a group of 6 and then 3 customers bought before us!) Once I got my cup and mixed away, that cup was gone in 10 min, I gave two minutes for enjoyment of the many flavors and beans and then it was gone! Definitely worth the 5 minute drive there instead of the 45 min drive to Waipahu! Now I know where to get my Halo Halo fix! Also if you were wondering if the 76 gas station and this shave ice store are related… they are! Same great shave ice at both spots!

I had craving for something sweet and cold and this is definitely to spot to go on the West side! I love Mom and Pop type stores and this is definitely it! I ordered a halo halo dessert with ube ice cream here and it was delicious! They also sell snacks, drinks and musubis here too. Cute store around the corner from the 76 Gas station in Maili on Hookele Street.

Found this place and they have great shave ice. I think better than Matsumoto and the prices are awesome. Small was huge and only $ 2.75! The kids got shave ice and I had to get their halo halo. Love it! A new fav place now.

Keeping it local for my 50th review. It’s hot as ever on the west side, so what could be more natural than shave ice in Hawaii to cool off. My daughter saw another person order shave ice from a lunch spot in Waianae so of course she had to have one too. However I didn’t want to get it from«that spot» because the Smalls are REALLY small and the wait is ongoing till forever. So we headed to Maili shave ice and snacks. It’s quite easy to find. Turn at hookele street, which is where 76 gas station is at the corner in Maili(of course), then go straight for a bit until you see the signs for shave ice and bright green gates. Park anywhere that’s not obstructing the main road or driveways. I didn’t really look around except for the shave ice menu but at a glance they have lots of snacks, ice creams, and drinks. Like a small gas station store, with better snacks that is. There are lots of shave ice flavors to choose from, but the ones my daughter and I got were grape, blueberry, and passion fruit. The grape and blueberry are not my usual choices of flavors but my daughter chose them but it turned out alright since it was all delicious and I enjoyed them. The ice was really soft and the lady puts lots of syrup so there are no plain spots outside or in. Anyway the size of the shave ice was huuge lol. For a medium it was more like a mountain costing 3.25. My daughter and I could hardly finish it so I recommend sharing the larger sizes and individually taking a small. They have other toppings too, also you may add ice cream so that’s a plus. Overall I will come back many times. The lady behind the counter is sweet and it’s not too far from where I live. Beats heading to the north shore for ice!

I was a little confused turning down into a residential area and then a little more confused when it said«Dan’s Maili Shave Ice» on the outside. But BINGO! I did find the right place. Tiny store but I was dying for some Shave Ice after hiking the pillboxes. Lots of good flavors to choose from and the sizes are HUGE. I ended up with a medium with vanilla ice cream, and strawberry, passion fruit and Li hing mui flavors. Soooooo refreshing!!! This will be my hangout from now on after I do any hikes down this side of the island!

That is some good inexpensive shave ice. Not a long line. Cute place. Not much of parking but you can find street. It’s just a neighborhood store. They don’t have anymore expresso machine. They have about 8 ice cream flavors. And lots of shave ice flavors. I got the passion fruit and mango with snow cap and vanilla ice cream. At the end it’s like orange cream but not orange flavor. Kids got root beer, Blue vanilla, bubble gum and guava. Niece put cookies and cream with it. Weird but ok. Lol So if your ever in Waianae side hit this spot up. Good prices. $ 2.50 and up.

POG and passion fruit snow capped shave ice, mmmm talk to me baby! Decided to try this place out since I was entertaining my nieces, I am so glad we came. You can’t miss the bright green gates of this establishment. We walk up and there are two nana’s sitting outside, smiling and talking(found out later she’s the owner). Lots of flavors to choose from. You can also add ice cream, sweet condensed milk(snow cap) or/and li hing mui powder. The size of the shaved ice is very deceiving. Ordering a medium is like ordering a large, the small a medium and I’m a little scared to see how humongous that would be! It was easy to dig into, syrup flavoring was perfect! I recommend trying the POG and passion fruit flavors. I’m sure all the flavors are awesome as my nieces loved their picks too!

Wow! Sooo Yummy! We had Matsumotos the other day & Maili’s is WAAAY better! The shave ice is finer, so it kept the flavors at the top & they didn’t leak to the bottom. Yay! No Flavorless icy slush at the top here. At the other place, it lost most of the flavors out the bottom… booo I got a medium… which was more than enough… Small would have been ample… Large is big enough to split between two or three people… Great prices… There’s also some good snacks & even a few grocery items… Definitely coming back! You should too! :-)
