I’ve had this food truck book marked for the longest time. Boy was I excited when the food truck I approached was Aunty Nel’s! I ordered the Kalua pig tacos and Oh my mouth watering goodness! It was so delicious. The taco shell was nice and crispy, the pork was perfectly seasoned, lettuce, sour cream, cheese and the tomatoes tasted like lomi lomi salmon tomatoes… without the salmon of course. Excellent! I also ordered the butter mochi, oooweee was that ono too! The truck is parked in the Nanakuli Super parking lot most of the week(I don’t know exact days, but I will find out) I will most definitely try more of their menu items, well once I get over ordering these broke da mouth tacos! Fast, friendly and hot food. Oh and you can get your tacos spiiicy, always a plus!

Ok so ive never had any of aunty Nels deserts before however her truck is always at the Waianae farmers market. Let me just tell you that she makes the best kalua pig tacos i’ve ever tasted! Its addicting really ^-^ One of Aunties secrets is the taco shell. Its cooked to a crisp perfection. Filled with flavorful kalua pig and fresh salsa its one winnah!

I tried Aunty Nel’s poi mochi for the first time. They were at the Farmer’s Market in Waianae. I ordered 6 pieces and left to finish my laundry at the mall. I didn’t realized, but I ate all of it! It was hot and crunchy on the outside, and so juicy and chewy on the inside. Soon my laundry was finished, I had to go back and ordered a dozen to take home. My family love it and ask why I didn’t buy more! So it is a ritual with me to go every Saturday and order poi mochi to take home. I remember ordering 6 pieces again while doing my laundry. Aunty Nel said she needed to make more, if I could wait. I told I will pay it and come back because my laundry was in the dryer. She said no problem. She made one of her helper come and deliver it to me! How awesome is that! I gave the kid a tip for bringing it to me and thanked him. Aunty Nel and her husband are a very nice couple and easy to talk to. But the next time I need to try their meal. But I am such a fanatic when it comes to dessert! !

I’m surprise that they don’t have a restaurant yet. Their food is amazing. I’ve always only had their famous Kalua Pig Tacos and of course Poi Mochi for desert but last night I tried their gandule rice and patele and I loved it!!! If you haven’t tried this place, stop by and order a plate!

I had Aunty Nel’s for the second time last night. The first time I tried them they were working the Pride Parade. I had been wanting to try them again since then so we drove from Ewa to their location in Waianae to grab some dinner. I decided to get the two kalua tacos for $ 6 again. The food there is so good and the prices are pretty decent. When we ordered our food it was out in no time. As the owner brought us our food she also brought us some free desert to try which was delicious as well. They are extremely friendly and are open late which I love because sometimes its hard to find a good place to eat past 9:00. Overall a great place to eat. Will continue to go back and support this small business.

Wow! It’s been quite awhile since I’ve been THIS impressed with an establishment! It’s so exhilarating to be able to write such an ecstatic review :) I first tried Aunty Nel’s at Honolulu Pride. I ordered the kalua pig tacos, mild. It was love at first bite! Amazing. The crispy goodness of a taco shell melted in my mouth, the pork was tender and juicy, the vegetables were fresh, the sour cream was just the right consistency, and their homemade salsa was the perfect topping! Not a bad deal, either, at 2 of these mouth-watering delicacies for $ 6. I live in Ewa and Unilocaled their establishment to see where I could purchase more of their taco perfections. I saw they operated a food truck out in Waianae and decided to make a trek out further west(and pick up some geoacaches on the way). We found them in the parking lot of Food Giant where they said they would be. The owner was extremely pleasant and nice when she took our order. She got our food out to us rather quickly! We sat down at the table they provided and while we were partaking in taco goodness, the nice lady brought us a couple of the poi mochi balls to try. What a fantastic advertisement because what did I do? I went back and bought half a dozen of those as well as butter mochi. While we were eating, the owner’s husband(I believe) sat down and chatted with us while he was folding napkins/plasticware. He, too, was incredibly nice and welcoming. Everything about this place was great. They let us in on a little secret: they will soon have a lunch wagon set up at Campbell Industrial Park in Kapolei and a food truck in Waipahu. Closer to me! Regardless, I would continue to make that drive anyway ;) I mean, this place is truly as good as it gets for food and service! If you haven’t had the pleasure of trying them yet, you should make it a point to!

We took the bus one day up the Leeward side till we were at Waianae Mall Farmer’s Market which is in a rather run down shopping center, however we found a gem of a food tent. Aunty Nel’s which is uniquely known for their generosity with slices of dessert items had a small tent set up for the day. What drew us to stop were pictures of «Killah» kalua pig tacos, Wow more pig than anything else! Aunty Nel and her daughter were serving up some great eats here. After much talk and super nice service we polished off a serving of Banana Bread topped with Chantilly icing, again another great yummer, wow! So if you see Aunty Nel’s in your path«go for the goods».

Boyfriend took me here after I saw a sign on the side of the road advertising Aunty Nel’s poi kochi, cheesecakes, and desserts. After working up an appetite doing yard work in what felt like 90 degrees, we found the black truck that is Aunty Nel’s, and WOW. The menu is not huge, but she has so many desserts that it might be hard to choose; I knew for sure I wanted poi mochi because, well, I like poi, and I like mochi! The mochi came out immediately after we ordered it and was DEEPFRIED. DEEPFRIEDEVERYBODY. The outside was hot and crispy, still deliciously oily from the fryer, and the inside was nice and chewy, not too sweet, but had a distinct taste that can only be poi. Brian and I also got the kalua pork tacos at 2 for $ 5(one spicy and one bbq), a bbq kalua pork burger($ 4), and two huge slabs of cheesecake at $ 5 each(one guava, one pumpkin). The cheesecake I demolished in the car; the guava was a plain cheesecake with a guava topping, so good! But then I tried the pumpkin, and my god, it was the best cheesecake I’ve had in a while. Creamy, light yet still rich, and so pumpkin-y and delicious! I thought it couldn’t get any better, but then I got home and had the tacos. The tacos are in a fried corn tortilla and filled with break-apart, melt-in-your-mouth pork. The sauces(spicy and bbq) were just the right amount and didn’t overwhelm your taste buds, but the real kicker was the combination they made with the heaps of sour cream, fresh lettuce, cheese, and the HOMEMADESALSA. The salsa tastes garden-fresh, is not too tangy, not too salty, and is perfection. Ask for extra salsa on the side if you can!

I love Aunty Nel’s cheesecakes!!! Red velvet, pumpkin, almond roca… soo soo good! Eventually, I will make my way through all the flavors. How can I describe the cheesecake? Rich, delicious, decadent… and the crust, thick and buttery. Forget about the diet. Life is meant to enjoy these pieces of heaven! The elliptical will be there tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that…

The best! At $ 5 for a big, hearty slice — you can’t lose. These cheesecakes are so rich, you will have a hard time finishing a slice — and I have a sweet tooth! They are adding little things, now they have Kalua Pig Tacos… oh myyyyy! So ono!!! Their prices are GREAT!

#125/365 After hearing about their cheesecakes from a couple of other reviews, I just knew I had to give them a try, esp since I was in the mood for cheesecake. I actually kind of went to the kapolei farmers market just for them ;). Some of the cheesecakes that they had were guava, kahlua and pumpkin for $ 5. They also had bread pudding, banana bread, i think butter mochi, and a couple other bread desserts. The cheesecake that I bought was their guava and it was pretty good, maybe a tad bit too sweet/rich but it was still good nonetheless. I also like their graham cracker crust which was nice and crunchy. They cheesecake also had a guava filling along with the pink guava topping. Their cheesecakes are huge too so its well worth it! Next time I def want to try their bread pudding as that looked really good too. Overall, they make some good looking desserts and they make big batches that you can order too for parties.
