TERRIBLE!!! WARNING – DONOTBUYANYTHINGFROMTHISSTORE. I was treated very poorly and even lied to by the sales staff. I guess since they have almost $ 800 of my money, they don’t need to have good customer service anymore. We have bought several thousand dollars worth of merchandise over the past three years of living on Hawaii, but this was by far the worst experience. On February 6, 2016, I bought a Koa watch at the location by Ward Center for my husband for his birthday(May 20). I bought it early because I had just received my tax refund and wanted to get him something extra special for his 30th birthday. My husband and I are both military, and he deploys a lot so I also wanted to have the watch purchase early given our crazy schedules. When I was in the store I was treated very poorly; ignored and had to beg 2 sales staff to even let me look at the watch to buy it. I bought it anyway, but was concerned about the return policy since his birthday was still three months away. The female salesperson told me it «wouldn’t be a problem». She said as long as I brought it back to that location, and told them it was a gift, then it could be returned if necessary even beyond the customary return window. I had my daughter shopping with me and she also remembers the saleslady saying that I could return it in May if it wasn’t my husband’s style. Fast forward to his birthday, and he does not like the watch. It isn’t his style, and makes him feel like an old man, so we decide to return it since we were told we could. We brought the watch back to the location by Ward Center last weekend, and were treated like criminals. The salesperson(Asian male this time) was incredibly rude, and told us we couldn’t return it and accused us of being liars. He flat out said he didn’t believe us. We showed him the receipt, and he literally turned his back to us, and mumbled some very ugly words. He was condensing, haughty, and refused to let us return the watch, which is still brand new in the box with receipt, even though his colleague had told us we would be able to. We left shell-shocked and in disgust at how awfully we were treated. It was literally THEWORST shopping experience I have ever had. We honestly just want to return the watch, get our money back, and never set foot in Martin and MacArthur again! STAYAWAY!

Gorgeous koa pieces! Pretty pricey and impractical(how easy is it to ship a $ 4K rocking chair?) but the items are gorgeous. I ended up with a couple of pairs of koa earrings.

I didn’t feel welcome in this store at all. I went to try on some Koa sunglasses and the sales man treated me as if I was going to steal them. He hovered over me as I tried on each pair of the sunglasses and locked the cabinet each time I tried on a different pair. It was a very awkward shopping experience and not one I’d like to repeat. He told me that they had a shoplifting problem, so they are extra careful. However, this rep was standing there the whole time. I probably won’t go back.

very cool store with wood everything, you name it they have it. My favorite are the watches, very artistic and yet they are fun and light weight. This is a great store to buy something for that someone who has everything.

The store has some beautiful products and we are great fans of Koa Wood. My review is really on the service. Unlike some of the other reviewers, we found the customer service experience here to be among the worst we had during our trip to Hawaii in March. There was an iPhone case made of Koa wood that caught my eye, and as I was trying to touch it, I was advised quickly and pretty rudely that the case I was looking at was display only and not one for customers to touch. From there on, the clerk was really cold and rude to us(middle age heavyset man), which is probably the opposite of how you want to treat someone looking at a ridiculously expensive and non-protective(but beautiful) iPhone case. He seemed like he was waiting to go on a break and we were standing between him and the clock, and getting our grubby tourist hands on their merchandise. Ouch. Sorry, maybe it was a one off. Really a bummer as we love Koa wood and the store looked beautiful. My partner left immediately as he couldn’t stand the negative energy. I stuck it out for five more minutes of window shopping but we both vowed never to return.

What a nice shop. Basically most of their products are made of Koa wood and it’s really beautiful. And it’s really expensive. No cheesy tourist gifts can be found here. You will be getting a quality Koa wood item. If you are looking to display something from Hawaii in your curio, then it really needs to come out of this store. It is a chain so you find many on Hawaii. This shop was large and had a good selection of products. Don’t miss it.

A great place to buy gifts if you’re looking for non-tourist trap, actually made-in-Hawaii items. Much of what was in the store was far above my price range, but they also had plenty of items that were more reasonably priced. The staff was polite and friendly, answering our questions even when it was clear that we wouldn’t be able to actually afford the item they were discussing. They also had the perfect«box» to store the non-traditionally shaped item I bought for my mom. I had no worries about it breaking on the flight home. This seems like a simple thing, but it’s nice not to have to worry about packing your luggage just perfectly and remembering you’ve got breakable items when you’re exhausted after your 15+ hours of travel time home.

Went into the store expecting to see items geared toward the Maui tourist, and was pleasantly surprised to find high quality, island-made goods. We ended up buying our wedding rings here from Lena. She is awesome and was very patient as we decided on a style. They are highly recommended.

Ok, sooo… after a few months of being back to the mainland, the products we purchased from this store have not held up very well. We bought a knife that has started to rust and come apart from the handle. We also bought a trivet made from Koa wood and when we put something hot on it, the wood or whatever film it’s covered with started to bubble! Overall the stuff was nice to look at but the price was way too high for things that don’t even do what they’re supposed to do. My advice would be to buy something decorative, not functional.

Martin & MacArthur is definitely pricey, but the items that they carry are so well made that it is money well spent. We stopped to browse the store while attending the WoW event at the Shops at Wailea. They carry beautiful jewelry, that is usually made by local jewelry designers. This is a great place to pick up a souvenir of your vacation or a gift for someone special in your life. The staff are very friendly and courteous and we appreciated their efforts as they offered to help when we lingered over different displays. I also bought a sugar free Hawaiian tea while there that has quickly become a favorite in our condo, everyone has agreed that we need to go back to purchase more.

The World According to Noelle Allergic Girl’s Guide to Life — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — Maui Honeymoon Review Series — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - This Martin & MacArthur has the best customer service– they are informative and polite. Its a decent size location filled with many great items for your home décor needs. The hubby and I picked up the cutest pineapple shaped Christmas Ornament, a fish coaster to complete my mom’s coaster collection(they don’t always have the complete collection in stock) and two bottles of the Alii Kula Lavender hand sanitizer. While Martin & MacArthur produces good quality items they are expensive. The Alii Kula Lavender line of products is sold here, the Ritz Carlton Spa in Kapalua and varies other place around the island– one should note they are considerably cheaper when bought at their gift shop at the Alii Kula Lavender Farm. I love the variety and good quality products sold at Martin & MacArthur!

Love how 95% of the stuff here is made in Hawaii… it’s a great place to stop for all the gifts on your list. I give this 5 stars for the handmade bracelets for $ 15 alone. I bought one last year and had to come back and buy 3 more this year for gifts. I love this place and the service is excellent.

This is a great shop to stop by if you’re at the Shops at Wailea. They have all sorts of fabulous Hawaiian gifts and locally made art, jewelry and other souveniers. The gifts here are upscale yet in many cases affordable. I couldn’t resist leaving without purchasing a cute necklace first. Definitely stop in here and check it out… the service is friendly and nice too!
