Had dinner for the first time at Farm Table last night. Our service was excellent. Our food was terrific. We had the Caesar Salad, which presentation wise did not inspire; however, the flavor was fantastic. We had the ribeye and halibut as entrée’s. The halibut was great! I would highly recommend it. The ribeye was good but not exceptional. We prefer a bit more flavor. Definitely will return! Would recommend! Look forward to trying it again!

Service is very friendly and food wasn’t bad. However the price was very expensive for what you get.

Great place for a weekly night out. Food is tasty and served hot. The flavors are well developed. The menu changes with the seasons. Like the short ribs, scallops and seared tuna.

If you love chain restaurants, this won’t be your place. If you value and appreciate farm-to-table cuisine as well as supporting local farmers… you will love Farm Table. The menu is creative and like nothing you will find at any other restaurant.

My Mother’s Day meal experience Seated in a bad spot(with a reservation) and when requested another seat high school help was willing to let us walk out the door rather than accommodate out request. She advised me they the tables had been assigned ahead of time when I watched the hostess choose the table in front of me and tell her to seat us there. Hostess stopped us as we were leaving and said she would meet our request. Kids pizza– Burned Salmon– Overcooked Forbidden rice– Under cooked Scallops– Under cooked Beet salad– Amazing! This was my 3rd time eating here and had had issues with service but never the food…

This is what I call a one and done. I was there last night with my regular partner in dining and we both ordered the rib eye. The only changes we made were to sub spinach for him and creamed Brussels sprouts for me over green bean casserole. Our waitress was nice and attentive enough. The steaks were cooked correctly. The problem was just lack of flavor. The ONLY food I ever salt when eating out is a baked potato, and not always those. However, I had to salt all my food, because it was pretty tasteless. This despite what looked like garlic and herbs coating my steak. I’m not sure the source of their steak(I know, it was on the menu, but I didn’t read all that), but it was a little tough AND left that unpleasant waxy feel in our mouths. It wasn’t really bad enough to send back, redo, etc., just was okay. For $ 29, I want more than okay, I want good, or great. Great would have been nice! If this tells you anything, I’d MUCH rather eat a steak at Outback or Carrabba’s. Maybe I should be willing to give places a 2nd chance, but it is my money… so when I’m disappointed I typically just move on.

The place is beautiful and the service is excellent. We had the short ribs and scallops. I loved my scallops but the short ribs were very dry and there were no potatoes or anything else on plate. It tasted more like an overcooked pot roast. The scallop sauce was AMAZING. The waitress was very familiar with the sauce and explained how they made it to us. The drinks were great. I had the Southern Lady martini and it was so great to have a martini not filled with sugar and fruit. We will be back.

So, it is Valentine’s day. People put on their best smiles and restaurants their best menus. This was my second visit; however, it is not a love story in the making. We ordered four dishes. Steak, shrimp and grits, salmon and pork chop. The good first. Pork chop was ok. Over brined and cooked on a grill not on a flame. It tasted like salted, breakfast ham. The shrimp and grits. Let’s call it forgetful. It was ok but like everything else ordered, over seasoned. Salt, ol’ bays and more salt. The salmon was cooked well. However, it was served with Asian noodles and Asian seasoning. I think this might have been OK had it tasted like salmon and Asian noodles; however, the salt theme continues. This one was completely inedible. Now, that brings us to the steak — — see photo. Again, we are served what appears to be your average, truck-stop-breakfast steak. Less than a half inch thick, covered in garlic, oil and salt. The life was pressed out of it and served raw. After all this, the staff were kind enough not to charge us for the steak. Just so you know, we didn’t eat any of the food. OK, maybe a bite or two of the pork chops.

Got to visit this place for the first time last night. I loved the comfortable and cozy atmosphere. The menu was original with a nice variety of flavor sand everything we got was fantastic. Our server did a great job and her recommendations were spot on. We’ll definitely be back!

Really good food and great people. Great gluten free options. I had the special sea bass with pomme frites. My wife had the forbidden rice. Loved the food, well prepared. The downside of the meal was no GF deserts available. Not enough a negative to knock a star off as I rarely eat desert anyway.

Over rated. Food was bland and very small portion size. I won’t be back to many good places to go in the area.

Dinner here for the second time. The atmosphere of a farm house is quant and not overly kitch. The hostess as expected is a young women and polite and prompt. The cocktails were made properly and delivered well. Our waitress was polite and prompt though it’s always a bit unbelievable when a waitress tells you every single thing on the menu is fantastic and everything is fresh… I find it hard to believe Salmon is fresh, it’s most certainly not flown in daily and is most likely previously frozen so not fresh. The appetizer Pomme Fritte were decent thought tons of stuff like cheese and green onions on it that are not mentioned on the menu nor added anything to the flavor other than taking away from the basic dish. The rib eye I orders was cooked to medium as expected and was flavorful with a good char I like. The pork schnitzel was cooked fairly well and flavorful. The green bean casserole was soupy and had a onion string casserole topping no bread crumbs. The children’s chicken fingers were fresh meat and were excellent. The overall experience is one that tries to emulate a high style farm to table and the quality of ingredient is there, the skill of the chefs to execute is not.

I was expecting a bit more from Farm Table. The décor is great and space is beautiful. There was just something lacking with the food. It can be be slightly better and I would suggest focusing more on the home-cooking and farm-to-table theme and not trying to make the food too fancy whilst compromising taste. They have their own garden outside so there is the emphasis on fresh food and farm-to-table goodness. I checked their website to try to make a reservation since they open at 5pm. I called around 1pm and said I wanted a reservation for 4 adults and one child at 7pm and the person that answered the phone said no problem and took down my name. When we arrived at 7pm, there was no record of my phone call or reservation. It really didn’t matter since the restaurant was empty on a Tuesday night but I was just a but confused how the communication gap occurred between the phone call and the hostess book. Either way, we sat down at a large table and there is a rustic bar and then the open kitchen area in the back where you can see the cooks preparing the food. I like the wooden tables and dim lighting and it had a very rustic, farm house feel. Their beer and wine selection is pretty minimal. $ 6 house cabernet and $ 10 glasses of Meiomi Pinot Noir and a few in between. They have Foothills so a few good craft beers on tap. The best thing we ordered were the garlic pommes frites(fries) and they were part of the small plates menu section. The portion was huge and they had the best flavor. As fa an entrees, I ordered the schnitzel and it was a huge piece of meat deep fried in the same batter as my niece’s chicken nuggets. Schnitzel is supposed to be pounded flat with not too much crust but okay I gave it a shot. My mom had the liver with sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes had cheese in them and everyone at the table that tried them made a sour milk face. Cheese in sweet potatoes is not a good mix and this is back to my first point of just keeping things simple and not trying to make home-cooked comfort food fancy. My brother had a flatbread with some greens and what looked like grapes. I saw the cook make the dough and the fresh concept is there. The flavor though was lacking and it just needed something else. My sister-in-law loved the short ribs and the meat just fell off the bone. If there is a next time, I will get the pommes frites to start and short ribs. One of the managers came around during the meal to ask how things were and he had on a Gatehouse tavern shirt. I think they are owned by the same person and the tavern is right next door with bar food and drinks. The manager was very kind and since they did not have apple juice for my niece, he brought her a fresh apple instead. The staff was great and I was just expecting a little more from the food.

I had the shorts ribs with potatoes. It was so delicious. The meat was tender with a large portion that I could barely finish. It was placed on a large scattered bed of crushed potatoes. It soaked up the sauce from the ribs and made it incredible. My brother had the pork chops. It was rather large cut about inch and a half thick. It looked really good and he liked it. The sides were good but not the star. The restaraunt is well decorated inside but if you have a chance you should sit outside on a nice night. They have a good assortment of beer, wine and signature cocktails. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. She could answer any question or offer recommendations. She even gave us a sample of a side dish that was accidentally changed on our entrée. You should give this restaraunt a try. The ingredients are from local farms so ask questions so they can steer in the right taste direction.

In Raleigh for business and did a Unilocal search for farm to table restaurants and Farm Table was the obvious choice! It did not disappoint. I nearly licked my dinner plate clean it was so good! Started with the beet salad, which was yummy. The horseradish goat cheese added a unique flavor to it. Had the grouper as my entrée — it was amazing! Lots of fresh flavors and a good portion of veggies to accent the fish. Compliments to the chef! Love this place and will definitely be back if I’m in the area again!

TIP: Their menu is on their Facebook page, not on their website! Even though this is a farm-to-table place where the menu changes seasonally, there is indeed a menu, and it can be checked out easily. Sis & I decided to try it out on this lovely Tuesday evening. Atmosphere is very pleasant and comfortable. Nice covered patio outside, although we(I) opted for indoors this time. Our Server was great and helped us fine the right wine. We both ended up with a nice rich Cabernet. We love to share when we go out for our monthly sisterly event, and chose three things. From the small plates section we went with Baked Chicken Wings with a Honey Bourbon Glaze. Also Grilled Asparagus with a Poached Egg, Tomato Hollandaise and Sliced Country Ham. Off the Large Plates section: Seared Snapper with Artichoke Black Olive Risotto and Preserved Lemon. The wings were four meaty drummettes with a tangy sauce. Loved the jalapeño and green onion with it. Finger-licking good! The asparagus was perfectly grilled, egg and hollandaise perfectly prepared as well. Personally, I didn’t care for the texture of the ham. Too chewy, not my thing, but Sis liked it fine. The Snapper was also delicious, but had no lemon flavor at all, and surprisingly came with a very yummy cream sauce. The menu never mentioned that. Fortunately, cream sauce calories don’t count when they’re not your fault. Prices for the quality were quite reasonable, imho, although it’s definitely a quality-over-quantity type of place, which was perfect for us. $ 8 for the wings, $ 10 for the asparagus, and $ 23 for the Snapper. Dessert choices, though yummy sounding, we passed on this time around. I usually prefer to do dessert when Husband’s around to eat 90% of it. Very much looking forward to future visits!

So far this place is great. Our waiter is still learning but the food is looking amazing. When you enter one greeted by a similar ambiance as the previous Italian restaurant. We tried a local made charcuterie platter and it tasted great. The only problem I had was being left with a desire for much more. I also wished that there was a bit more bread. My wife then ordered the shrimp and grits which not only looked appealing but tasted phenomenal. It had a smoky taste with a beautiful presentation. I however ordered the special which was little neck clams served with an amazing beurre blanc sauce with shallots and white wine. Oh my whomever made my dish had to have lived in the north because I loved it so much that I licked my dish. Yes I really did! I think they need to make this a permanent dish. To finalize our adventure we had peach cobbler(which was made from daylight donuts) with whipped topping rather than ice cream. Now honestly I was really expecting ice cream on top. For this reason only, I had to subtract a star. Perhaps if the whipped topping did not instantly dissolve into a milky liquid it would have been better.

I Love me some farm to table. Especially when they focus on using local fair. Décor is very nice. Kind of a shabby chic farm feel. I never made it to the previous restaurant so i can’t compare it, but it was a very comfortable upscale country hometown feel. Menu changes based on the season and whats available, so what was on tonight’s menu may not be there a couple days from, which is fun and keeps it interesting. The hubbie and I ordered 2 appetizers, the Pura Vida farm braised pork belly on a lentil pilaf and the chapel hill creamery farmer’s caprese with herb oil and garden basil. I’m not a huge fan of pork belly, but this was very good. I prefered the caprese salad though, which was not what i was expecting. it was cheese, topped with a fresh tomato, topped with a fried green tomato. Although it was not what was in my head, it was still fantastic, and defiantly something i would order again. For the entrée we ordered the HRB farm braised short rib in a beef reduction, roasted potatoes, sauteed triple beans and scallions, at least that was what was on the menu, but what we got seemed different than what i expected. The braised short rib was served on top of what i thought were pureed carrots, and there seemed to be braised greens on top of the short ribs. not sure if this was suppose to be the sauteed triple beans and scallions or if it was substituted for something different. Either way, I’m not mad. This is part of the adventure of farm to table style restaurants, sometimes things change a little in the process based on what is available. So you have to be willing to be a little flexible when you’re ordering b/c it might arrive just a little different than what is on the menu or in your head. Our friends ordered the salami, cheese bread appetizer, which was good, although i’m not sure i would order it, just b/c it’s not my thing. They ordered the shrimp and grits, which was very good, something in it had a bit of a mexican flavor. After much debate we think there was a pepper of some sort that was giving it the distinct familiar, but i can’t put my finger on it flavor. They also ordered the nightly special which was clams and pasta. Although i did not try it, someone did lick the bowl… soooooo, i’m going to say that’s a good sign! There were 2 desserts available, which are not actually made on site, but are from Sugar on top, a wake forest bakery connected to daylight donuts. They offered peach cobbler and pecan pie. Our friends got the peach cobbler and we got the pecan pie and then we just shared it all. Both were good, although I’m not sure they were worth the $ 8 price point. Although good, i probably would not get them again. But hopefully they’ll rotate out the dessert options, so i might be tempted. Wait staff were very friendly and patient. And although you could tell they were new, they weren’t afraid to say, I don’t know and then go ask someone for an answer. When it comes to wait staff, i don’t need perfection, just someone who is willing to be honest! Overall it was a great experience and the food was good! I look forward to seeing what they do after they are open a little longer. But it is obvious they have good staff, and great chefs. Maybe they’ll eventually move to house made desserts and maybe offering some house made breads? Who knows! But I think this is a great addition to the wake forest area!
