I don’t understand all the hype about this place. The coffee tastes stale, the staff are rude and don’t use gloves and the prices are far from reasonable. The only good thing about it is the deck that overlooks Salt Pond.

This is such a cute coffee place with plenty of choices both in terms of coffee, non coffee beverages and food. There is a ton of outdoor seating and indoor seating as well. It has a great local flavor to it and very friendly staff. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the neighborhood and looking for your morning coffee!

A lot of reviews on this place seem to comment on the fact that the location is what keeps it in business and that is the only thing inherently special about it. I beg to differ. I came in to Java Madness about a week ago with my mother because we were passing through and needed an afternoon pick me up. The girls on staff there were all very sweet — the barista who made my mom’s latte made it wrong(my mom needs soy milk) and when we informed her of her error(she made it with regular milk) she apologized and made a new latte right away. Mom loved the latte and thought it was fresh. I had a chai latte– I love chais. They are generally the only thing I get at places like this unless I’m really tired and in need of some serious coffee. My chai was average– not the best I have ever had and if I come here again I will probably try something else. Overall, the staff was incredibly friendly, coffee was great, chai not as much. Sitting out on the deck was great though, the view was beautiful. There was a thunder storm rolling in while we were there and listening to that was incredibly peaceful.

Really great view of the water, fun atmosphere. You can get a variety of items from bagels, pastries, sandwiches. I have one of the free cold brewed iced coffees from the RI food fights, I have to say the coffee was not very good, it wasn’t strong and didn’t taste like a cold brewed. But I did purchase a red pepper scone, was very tasty, never had a scone like this before so I would suggest it! Staff was friendly, so if you are looking for outdoor seating and a small snack then I would go, just don’t expect much out of the coffee.

I’ve tried my best to love Java. Great location, and their sandwiches/food selection is great. I’ve always had a yummy lunch courtesy of Java. However, their coffee isn’t that great. The girls working there are rude and make you feel uncomfortable. When I was there the other day waiting for my order, I almost decided it would be my last time in there because of the customer service. That is until the owner came out and made it a point to say hello and smile, like he usually does. He is always nice and welcoming. Too bad he couldn’t help out serving customers more.

Stale tasting coffee and rude staff. Simply put, there are a million places in South County to get coffee without dealing with curt, cold staff and settling for last night’s coffee that they couldn’t sell. Every time I’ve made the mistake of stopping here on the way to work I’ve left disappointed and today was no different. Pass on this one and save your dollar.

If it wasn’t for the view I’d never go there. Located in the marina on Salt Pond, it’s beautiful to sit on the deck a have a coffee. Other than that, the food(bakery items especially) are average at best. Scones may be the worst I’ve ever had. Coffee is ok. Sandwiches are pre-wrapped and not made to order but reasonably tasty. All in all, nothing special, except the view.

Soooo, the atmosphere & view is great. The BELT bagel sandwich is absolutely delicious. The quiche is flavorless … Needs seasoning, desperately. Coffee, so so. Not bad, but not amazing. A vaca spot for sure! Relaxing and pleasant. How’s the cappuccino? Delish!

For all the negative reviews about the coffee here, I wasn’t going to get one but thought how much worse can it be than the expensive one I had earlier in a fancy Westerly café with 4.5 stars. All I will say is that the ½″ of espresso I had here was as good as any I had in my 6 years living in Napoli, the heart of superb coffee. So forget the poor taste the reviewers have and try a real coffee. First class.

Coffee and food overpriced. What awful music they have. If it wasn’t for the view no one would go there.

Both the good and the bad. The good: great location and atmosphere with good food and coffee. The bad(today anyway): poorly managed… prices wrong on big blackboard menu and 35 minute wait for a bacon egg cheese on English muffin(and not told the wait was that long for hot food when ordering!). Owner did not seem to care very much was even more disappointing… offered to microwave my cold coffee.

Coffee is good, I’d say in the middle of Starbucks and Dunkins strength which is perfect. Dunkins is all watered down and over iced and milked while Starbucks is too strong and causes stomach aches. This place makes the coffees blended perfectly. I’m not a huge fan of pre-made sandwiches but theirs were ok, maybe have the option of a pre-made or fresh made and I’d be more likely to eat lunch here again. It’s really a great view with fast wifi both indoors and outdoors. The girl working today was very nice and polite and had a smile on his face. The guy who served me showed no signs of customer service. He didn’t smile at any guest, he didn’t engage in conversations, he was very flat and grumpy with his attitude and demeanor. He left the poor girl alone unless a line formed all the way to the door. I’ll come back for the coffee but not lunch until fresh sandwiches are available. I’ll also wait to have the friendly girl serve me instead of the grumpy guy. I wish everyone understood how important Customer Service is in any job. I took away two stars mainly due to his

For a line out the door, this place was speedy and had great attitudes! It was a HUGE plus that the coffee was delightful!

I usually go to Java Madness on weekend mornings a few times a month. Typically it is just to pick up a coffee and maybe a breakfast sandwich. The Maui iced coffee is really delicious, and I think that their iced coffee’s always are tasty & fresh. Much better than Dunkin’s. There aren’t too many places to sit inside, but their outside seating on their deck is perfect for a sunny day. There have been times I’ve sat out there up until late November. It’s really nice looking out at all the boats on Salt Pond. The only downside I would say about this place is the live music. Sometimes it is just so irritating you can hardly hear yourself think, let a lone try to have a conversation. Some people may like it, but I’m not really into that hipster scene. Other than that, I think they do a fantastic job. It’s also a great spot for lunch, and their pre-made sandwiches are always fresh!

Great setting next to the water in Wakefield… We had two special sandwiches. One was a Spinach bagel with sausage, cheddar, basil and egg… the basil was fresh and flavorful, the sausage tasted fresh and nicely cooked. The second was a egg and cheese sandwich on English Muffin, also well prepared and crispy. Nice little spot !!
