Nice, we were on a 10 day Geocaching Road trip when we ate at this restaurant based on the recommendation of our B&B. Service and food were spot on. We felt that this and the other restaurants in the area were a little higher priced than we expected. However the food was good.

Dinner started with a nice cold micro brew served in a chilled glass! Appetisers of coconut shrimp and calamari. Coconut shrimp was very different, nice shrimp prepared in a coconut milk based Thai style sauce, and excellent. Calamari was nothing special. Pasta entrée was a small portion but very tasty. Coconut cheese cake was excellent. Service was good but not overly attentive.

Very dissapointed. I had been here in the past and it was amazing. The service was excellent and the food was really really good. Now under new management the menu is completely different and I’m assuming the cooks are different as well. I didn’t find anything on the menu i was in love with so I tried to add something. Not happening. I even tried to get something as a side order so i could add it myself. Also i a no go. Finally found something i could live with and waited for 45 minutes. There was only one other table. My grilled sandwich was burnt and the fries were stone cold. The waitress did bring me out some more fries that were hot and she was very sorry that everything was cold and burnt. But still charged me full price for everything. c’est la guerre. If you do decide to go there don’t go for the food. The desserts looked really good… And they have a good selection of local wines. But u might want to bring your own sandwich. :)

This place has a history of being an awesome restaurant for years under previous owners and it was amazing. The couple that owned it broke up and sold it. It’s been struggling ever since. Not only was our experience a failure, but how they handle themselves when things go wrong just added insult to injury. Avoid this place for any serious dinner event. Plenty of great options in Walla Walla do deal with a wanna-be hack of a chef with a massive ego. For us — it went down like this — wad a reservation for eight of us for 8pm. Orders placed by 8:15, food arrived at 9:35pm — well over an hour. We saw some friends on the way in and they were warning us «they’re very slow». We were on our 3rd glass of wine when the dinner finally arrived. Within that order, the lamb burger was cold to the touch and the cheese was not even melted. The server said it would take about 40 – 45 minutes to get a hot burger. Are YOUKIDDINGME? The waitress comes out with someone else’s boulonnaise that was turned away to offer it up in lieu of the failed burger. The soup was bland and under seasoned. Ok it gets worse. They had two steak options on the menu. One was with a filet/tenderloin, the other with a Wagyu Top Sirloin. I liked the cut of meat on one, but was not interested in the preparation on the other, so I asked to have the meat cuts swapped. Any restaurant would normally do this — but this arrogant chef refused — «NOSUBSTITUTIONS — PERIOD». But he was happy to send out a boulonnaise substitution for a FAILED burger? What a jerk. He thinks he’s running he French Laundry here. Get real. Serve your customers. Do it on time. If you screw it up, make it right — we get that mistakes happen. It’s not about you, it’s about the customers. If you can’t do that, find a new line of work. We are done with this place. Hungry, still after leaving we stopped by Public House on the way out and had a burger there — the place was completely slammed busy but they produced a great meal, quickly without any fuss over a slight modification. Should have gone there in the first place.

We were tourists in town to pick up wine and play golf. We had reservations at 7 pm… got seated at 7:20 and got our salads at 8:30 and then we got our dinners two hours after we were first seated. Way too long! The food was creative and interesting but we had lost our enthusiasm for eating by the time we were finally served. Our waitress apologized. But, we probably wouldn’t return unless the chefs get the dinners out a in a more timely fashion. We were seated outside on the patio but outside the areas of the heat lamps, so we had to go to the car and get some vests and down parkas… it got chilly on the patio.

This place had a pretty good menu going and quite some good reviews so we decided to give it a try on our Walla Walla trip. The restaurant was nice and intimate with a cute patio. We ordered the sirloin steak and Monchong with green curry. The steak was cooked perfectly rare, but the sauce was not memorable. Monchong was also cooked perfectly paired well with green curry sauce, however, the Chinese side of me was not used to how the bok choy was prepared. I grew up eating bok choy cooked tender. This dish, the bok choy was grilled, undercooked on the base(ugh) and burnt to crip on the leafy part. Overall, we left a little underwhelmed. The good thing is they seem to change their menu quite a lot, we would visit again if in the area.

Visited on 3⁄26. Restaurant was suggested by a couple of the tasting rooms in town. A little skeptical due to past reviews. Had the veal bolognese absolutely the best I have ever had. Our group of four all had fantastic meals and great service. Found out that this restaurant changed ownership. Forget some of the old reviews this place. Is worth a try.

Wait staff was very helpful. Venue was nice. Cesar salad was the most pitiful I’ve ever encountered! My husband and I both ordered one(at $ 10 each) and there was probably not more than 4 or 5 leaves per plate. I can go to Costco and buy a huge bag of Romaine hearts for $ 3.75 each. This was pathetic. We won’t be back.

This place is a charmingly quaint(is that possible?) bistro tucked away just south of downtown on 2nd Street. It has a new owner, who also happens to be the very creative chef. He has crafted a menu that should tempt almost anyone to try something that is a little different. Yes, there is steak on the menu but there are a variety of less standard choices that may result in your meal containing something new or something prepared in an entirely different way. This place is quite small so reservations are recommended. The prices are very reasonable for Walla Walla and would be cheap in any metropolitan establishment. The service when we were there was impeccable and the waitress anticipated our every need. The bread served before the meal, accompanied by oil and vinegar, was exquisite with a richness and texture that was almost a meal in itself. If you are a bread lover, this could definitely be your downfall! Oops! Where did my shoes vanish to? The soup of the day was spicy and delicious. The main courses were filling and had great flavor. The dessert, huckleberry sorbet, was melt-in-your-mouth yummy. The wine complemented the meal perfectly. As a final coup-de-grace, the owner came out and explained how the wild shrimp and antebellum grits ended up on the menu. Definitely worth repeated visits to try other menu items.

New ownership(again). Tip for tourists: it is a four-minute drive from downtown straight down 2nd avenue, and the trip is worth it. The interior of the restaurant is cozy with booths and several small two-person tables. I also noticed a large group(not sure if those tables were pushed together or one big table). The booths are comfortable and provide more privacy, but the two-person tables can be very intimate and romantic. There is a comfortable patio for warmer months. The wild shrimp, antebellum grits with holy trinity cajun sauce was tasty, and I am looking forward to my leftover grits as breakfast. Most flavorful shrimp I’ve tasted. When the owner/chef stopped by our table, he explained that the grits came from the south, and he was trying to stay true to a southern recipe. How cool is that? Loved the fact that he took the time to explain the recipe. The excellent huckleberry sorbet finished me off for the evening, but I’ll be back.

New ownership and an amazing new menu. I love chef owned restaurants where people really care about 1) the food 2) their customers 3) taking risk. SFG does all three under this new ownership. Chef Makaiwi has taken a risk, going solo and using some great ingredients along with this superb culinary skills to bring South Fork Grill to a top dining destination in Walla Walla. Great for couple, groups and families. I have been in at least three times over the past few months and have walked away completed impressed with the service and the food. A must try in Walla Walla!

Prior to our visit we had heard of many ownership and worker changes, some good some bad, so we weren’t sure what to expect. The almost empty parking lot was disconcerting. Our waitress told us that the new chef/owner had taken over two weeks ago. The menu was exciting, the service appropriate and the drink selection local. Of all four entrees, we were not disappointed and we followed those up with equally delicious desserts. This restaurant is on track to become a local hotspot again.

The place looked pretty good when you walked in, but that’s where the good ended. The waitress did not know any details about the menu and was not helpful at all. I ordered the prime rib which was a misnomer, it was a rib roast alright, but it definitely was not prime, more like a choice cut at best. Overly fatty and a pretty small portion for the larger«cowboy cut» and at $ 28, plus $ 6.00 for a simple dinner salad, a bit overpriced. It was more like the $ 11.95 «prime rib special» you get at a cheap Las Vegas casino. That aside, we waited 40 minutes before our meals were brought to the table. The wine pour was pretty small as well. I thought I was at a wine tasting, not out for dinner. I had to flag down the hostess and the water boy to get more bread, salad dressing, etc. Our waitress would race past, never making eye contact and would ignore our attempts to get her attention. The first time we saw her after the initial greeting, was about 30 minutes after we sat down. She did say our meal was delayed because they had a larger party at another table which she apparently felt it necessary to point out with her index finger. Although I can understand delays associated with larger groups, that party was not really that big, and that’s the equivalent of telling your customer«We have a more important customer at another table, so you will have to wait» Mediocre food, neglectful service, chintzy wine pours and overpriced entrees. I would recommend you stay away. Much better places In the Walla Walla area to choose from.

Not the best experience. The service was great, and friendly. The atmosphere was quaint, and cute. The mojito was excellent. BUT… the food was not good. Other than the fries. After that, our main courses were very bland, and over priced. I ordered the curried halibut, and it came with hardly any sauce, and plain white rice, and boring broccoli. It is a huge pet peeve of mine when you charge so much money for sub par food. Hire some good chefs, and splurge on some extra sauce.

Since I’m new to the area I was encouraged by the reviews here to try this restaurant a couple weeks ago on a weekend. The reviews here on Unilocal!made me think the food would be delicious. Haha! Not even close! I ordered the fish tacos at the suggestion of the waitress. What a disappointment to find more mango salsa than fish in the tacos. To top it off the fish was really dry. So today at work when I’d forgotten my lunch I decided to try some take out since co-workers were going here and it would be convenient. Why not give them another try — maybe my weekend experience was a fluke, I thought. What a colossal mistake! This spinach salad wasn’t prepared as they’re menu said it would be. And to think I paid over $ 10 for it with the addition of grilled chicken which tastes like it was cooked with fish. UGH! What a frustrating experience! I would’ve given them just one star but I thought I’d throw them a bone and add another star since the take out option was convenient.

Lovely location and ambiance, but our food was not good. We ordered the raspberry brie chicken and chicken Caesar for main dish, plus key lime pie and Mocha for dessert. Where to start? The raspberry chicken was pounded so thin and breaded that it would be very difficult not to over cook, and this one was terribly overcooked. The Mocha was delivered lukewarm, and the pie was just average. Overall a very mediocre dining experience, even though the outdoor setting was lovely. A small rant, which would otherwise be overlooked, was that the waiter very nicely moved the standing heater closer to our table for heat, but it was not turned on. Nice gesture, even though it didn’t produce much!
