We ordered the 18 in large as they only have that and 10 inch meat lovers. It did take 45 minutes to get pizza. It was very good. It was a thin crust with great sauce. Meats were tasty. Could of had more cheese to make better

Sweet Basil has amazing pizza. Absolutely amazing… Too bad the overall attitude of the staff is drab and unwelcoming. We tried complimenting the owner about the great food, and he barely smiled or responded. Assuming his glib attitude has infected the entire staff. Go for good food, not for good service.

Sweet Basil’s Pizza is a five star place. Their single slice pizzas are great as a grab-and-go meal, and their big pizzas are great for family events. They have a nice atmosphere and a good selection of drinks.

The pizza was OK, but if you order by the slice, be prepared for reheated pizza of questionable freshness. The food prices were a bit high for what you get and beverages were way overpriced. Not sure how broke college students do it, but there’s always more debt right? It might have been 2 or 3 stars, but the staff was less than friendly and failed to even say thanks, or goodnight as we left, even though we made eye contact. Maybe if I were in skinny jeans…

While visiting Walla Walla recently on an overnight business and wine tasting adventure, we decided to try this place for pizza, due to the awesome reviews it received on Unilocal. We knew in advance to expect a bit of a wait, because of the college(Whitman) crowd frequenting this popular hang-out. When we arrive at around 7:30pm, the place was bustling with college students, and we feared a long wait, but we ended up with a nice bar height table near the front window, perfect for people watching! We got our order in for a typical Italian this crust pizza, and ordered a carafe of wine to enjoy while we waited. The wine was from CAVU Cellars, which happened to be one of the places we did wine tasting earlier. Excellent! Then our pizza was served, and we had just the right condiments at the table: Crushed Red Pepper, Oregano, Grated Parmesan Cheese. The pizza looked massive, and at 1st we feared we would never finish it between the 2 of us. But it was so good, and we were so hungry, we managed to savor ever last morsel of it, until we cleaned the pizza pan! I am from Boston, MA area originally, so I grew up on East Coast, 1st generation Italian, family secret recipe type pizza pies. Good pizza seems hard to find our here in WA State, much less over in a rural part of Eastern WA, but this place knocked it out of the park! A-W-E-S-O-M-E PIZZA!(We’ll be back!)

I can’t believe I haven’t already written a review for Sweet Basil’s. They are a 5 star place in every way. The pizzas and calzones are excellent, the staff is always friendly even when they are slammed, and the local owners give back so much to the community. Best pizza place by far in Walla Walla.

Service was great and salads and pizza even better. NY style at its west coast best. Brought three 18″ pies home for 10 and was more than a hit.

One of the few places open on Monday night after a very busy weekend. Pizza(pepperoni and artichoke heart) was delicious once it arrived. We had a very long wait — but they were very busy and apparently using only one oven. Caesar salad was just barely acceptable — the dressing was just dumped on watery lettuce. Given any other choices, we won’t go back.

We visited during the Gentleman of the Road festival. Suuuuuper busy, but still got our delish inferno pizza within minutes. Cool atmosphere, great view of the band, clean restrooms. Loved the GOTR décor. The pizza was just hot(spicy) enough. Good selection of micro brews on tap. Reasonable prices, slice and pint for $ 8.

This is a really good Pizzeria! The space itself is decorated with various music memorabilia which is nice with the Gentlemen of the Road stop over is this weekend. Local beer on tap which automatically earns a star in itself. The Burton IPA was awesome, the Pilsener was also pretty good. As far as the pizza goes, I tried the Chicken Pesto(absolutely delicious), Italiano(hearty and very tasty), and the BBQ(better than most BBQ). The staff were all very pleasant and didn’t mind us staying a bit later to finish our beers.

Pizza was pretty good. What really killed me though was the«pitcher» of beer that we poured into pint glasses and discovered it was LESS then 3 pints. Yes, 3 pints. AND, It cost a dollar more then buying three pints. Every pitcher everywhere is 4 pints. right?! I called them out on it and they offered without hesitation to «give me a little extra».(To keep quiet I’ll assume) Super lame.

We had the calzones. The dough was very well prepared by hand(we watched), but it was the sauces that really shined! High quality ingredients, expertly prepared, and super tasty. We well be back every time we visit?

Yum! Hand stretched, we ordered take out and instead of the normal pie, I chose a roasted red pepper, spinach, artichoke heart, black olive Stromboli and my husband a double cheese, pepperoni, green olive calzone. It was ready in 15 minutes and by the looks and its scrumptious taste, they must cook in a fire oven. When my husband went to get it, the girl mentioned that although the calzone came standard with four toppings, the Stromboli only three, my husband offered and paid for the extra topping. Not enough to take away a star. He ended up sneaking the garlic bread sticks(actually a very thin cheese & garlic pizza) as well and we had to stop from pure gluttony by saving a few pieces. Delicious!

I may have driven 4.5hrs just to eat here. Sweet Basil Pizzeria was my main goal for a short overnight trip to Walla Walla recently. We were here 4yrs ago and talked about coming back. I felt extremely motivated over spring break and made the trip on my own. When I arrived, I bought 3 slices – margherita, BBQ chicken, and potato gorgonzola. The last being their special for that day. Otherwise, SB has a selection of pizzas for the slice with 1 rotating daily. The line system is a bit wonky. You stand at the counter where the pies by the slice are, to place your order. You receive a slip of paper and stand in the pay line, which takes a while. My slices were warmed up and placed in a small box, as far as I could tell, they didn’t have small containers of parm or packets red pepper flakes to take home, but you can sprinkle some on your slices before you leave. OK, so expectations were pretty high since it’s been many years and many miles since I had this last… but the first bite was pretty close to memory. The margherita is just a classic, the tomato sauce is tangy and normally I’m not a fan of fresh tomatoes on pizza, but these were sliced very thin and almost caramelized during the baking process. The BBQ chicken pizza was sweet while the potato gorgonzola was very strong on the gorg. I had a moment of genius where I stacked my BBQ chicken and potato gorgonzola slices on top of each other, like a pizza sandwich, and it was heaven! I recommend this combo verily. Feeling satisfied with the sampling of pizza from the previous evening, I called in a take out of 2 whole sweet basil pizzas to take back with me the next day. The sweet basil pizza has fresh basil and mozz, which is a little confusing since that’s a margherita-style pie but their margherita pie is different(fresh tomatoes, dried basil atop a classic cheese pizza). The creamy mozz cuts thru the tang of the tomato sauce, and I love fresh basil, so this was the pie to get. I called ahead about 45mins and the pies were waiting for me, but I had to go through their line system of claiming my order slip and then standing in line to pay. All I could think of was my pizzas, waiting to be taken home! The staff at SB were friendly. My cashier from the first night was on the floor the next day and we did a «hey!» but otherwise, it’s a bustling restaurant and very popular with locals and vistors alike. I didn’t even try a hot slice before I proceeded to Seattle but the pizza held up well during the several hour drive(I had a couple stops and got stuck in traffic). I gave a whole pie to some friends(with the request that they commit the flavor to memory and make me a pizza next time) and worked on the other pie myself for the next few days. The slices reheat well, but you do have to put some time in the process. No microwave! I used my cast iron skillet with a lid and the slices perked right up. The pizza did not last very long for that I am both thankful and wistful. The price point for the food is similar to our local chain Pagliacci, it’s not a cheap slice. But I think for the flavor and quality, it’s worth it for the occasional splurge and 5hr drive. Would I go back for a pie? Sure!

Been here a half dozen times over the past couple of years. Good pizza. Not the best, but it’s better than Round Table, Pizza Hut and the like. Great little Mom & Pop place serving up a decent pie. Throw in some tasty butter soaked bread sticks & a house salad loaded with fresh greens & drizzled with homemade ranch… you’ve got a good thing going here. Next big decision is what to wash it down with? A craft brew on tap or a local red from one of the nearby vineyards? Restaurant is located in Walla Walla’s quaint downtown area. Parking can sometimes be a minor challenge but has never deterred us from going there. Just might have to circle the block a couple times and be willing to walk. The dining area is clean and open. Mix of regular tables & then the higher bar stool type ones. A kids area. Flat screen tv. Nothing to write home about. Not bad. Not great. But satisfactory. It’s a «bus your own» place but they still deliver your meal. This sort of setup always confuses me a bit. You place your order at the counter. Move down the line and pay(and order your beverage). Take a number to your table. Meal is delivered. Bus your table when done. I think it’s the ¼ service ¾ on your own thing that never sits right with me. Do you tip? Do you flag down for a refill or a side of ranch? Don’t get me wrong, other restaurant models do this. I’m just not a fan. This place just feels like it should be full service but it’s not. Which is not a make or break deal… I’m just saying. A word about that side of ranch though: pet peeve of mine — it should be complimentary. Nickel & dime-ing for a side of ranch is a bit irksome when I pay 99% of my meals & expenses on a credit card. I mean, really? Still, it’s a great little place. We’ll keep coming here when in Walla Walla and we are craving pizza. One more thing: anyone know the significance of the door handle to nowhere in the bathroom? I confess: I gave it a twist knowing it couldn’t possibly lead anywhere. Anyone else give in to the urge?

Great place to get a slice of pizza and a beer. I love the Hawaiian. It’s delicious. The service is good mostly because you just go to the counter to order. Whenever you’re feeling hungry go get a slice of sweet basil!

Sweet Sweet Basil and their 2 slices combo, not to mention a good lager on tap. Sweet Basil is across from Coffee Perk just off Main St. There’s a parking lot in the back of the Macy’s plaza where you can park for free to go to Sweet Basil’s in case the street parking is all full. A large oven/counter situation greets you when you walk in. Order at the counter, either precooked slices or from a menu board on the back wall, and then bring your little slip of paper over to the cashier where you can also choose a drink(beer, wine, soda, free water is in the fridge) if you so desire. If you’re dining in you then bring your number to whatever table you want and then wait for the pizza to be brought to you. I think my favorite pizza was the pesto one, but I was also a fan of the BBQ Chicken and the pepperoni. The pizza’s are all think crust, and the salads are a good size if you want veggies. If you’re in the mood for a calzone, they’re massive but pretty doughy. I wanted mine to be predominantly cheesy, just like my Unilocal reviews. Though they have limited beer options I enjoyed the IPA and lagers that were on tap. Utensils, napkins, and cups can be found at a station near the trash cans, and the seating area is usually not crowded. I found the staff to be friendly and never felt rushed to leave when enjoying a leisurely lunch or dinner.

We were hungry when we arrived in Walla Walla, so I was very happy when I was able to quickly find a place that offered gluten-free pizza. I was kind of surprised it was a very casual and family-friendly spot because for some reason I was expecting something a little more fancy. It was kind of loud, but… not too bad. I was hungry and couldn’t get myself to make any decisions, so I decided to ask the cashier for some suggestions. She was… not interested in recommending toppings or menu items. After a couple minutes, I finally picked some items/toppings and we headed to a table. I don’t remember much about the beer I had, but I definitely loved the salad and enjoyed the pizza.
