Horrible! Food is mediocre. You can’t enjoy your food because your too busy shivering it’s so cold. People had to put their coats on that’s how cold it was. Had to wait for our food for over 40 min. Then it wasn’t even that good. Don’t recommend if your on a time schedule or like to be comfortable while eating.

Great little bar with great bar food, hot dogs with bacon, or cheese, or anything else they can think of to top it with, lots of local beers, sweet potato fries delicious, Moscow mule fantastic in a copper mug, burgers good too, tight tables, small space, dirty bathrooms are the only reason it’s not 5 stars, street parking

This place was awesome. Great food, great atmosphere and great service! Would defiantly come back. Traveling through the area, we saw some reviews on Unilocal and decided to stop. It was a good decision.

The food here is always good. I usually get the fried Brie burger which is very rich but so mouth watering delicious! Everyone loves the huge pork wings. Make sure you have time tho because this place is not quick as they make everything to order.

Delicious, every time! Since the day they opened, the food is always fresh and cooked to order(sometimes taking extremely long in a busy weekend night) but worth the wait. We love a good burger, which the definitely have a nice selection to choose from but my favorite is the Southwest Salad. The dressing is made in house which means it is different every time and by different I mean spicier!(you can only eat half your salad your mouth is on fire– spicy) The sweet potato fries are to die for and you will eat every last one!

We were intended for another locale, but as chance would have we were lost. Then through the fog, yes literally, the fog, Knuckleheads appeared and our direction was changed. Appearing like your average burger & dog joint from the outside. Inside, far from it. I was immediately drawn to the significant tap beer board with 20 – 30 high end brews. My Candy Shop Eyes and Glare went into hyper mode. I settled for a Founders Backwoods Bastard, fresh and well served. Onto the menu, «Woe» not your average. Flavors: spices, meats, sauces, vegetables, and grilled pineapple ALL creatively intermingled in a taste bud explosion! For instance, I had«The Big Jerk,» grilled chicken breast, topped with jerk sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese, grilled onions, pineapple, lettuce, tomato & Chipotle mayo. This is definitely not a one stop location, I plan to return and work my way through the menu along with the tap list. You should too.

Solid burger joint. which we lack in this area. I’ve been here a handful of times, and the burgers always shine. These guys use good quality meat-burger juice running down arms. I’ve had everything from the classic, American cheese and LTO, to the latest. peppercorn crusted, caramelized onion and fried brie wedge topped burger. Yes. fried Brie. Amazing. Great beer selection, they must have at least 15 – 20 on tap, with a lot of local brews! Plus. Come here for the burgers and que, makes for a uplifting Monday night.

Was in tn North Haven attending the Renaissance Faire when my group wanted some real food and drink. Riding around Wallingford is like walking around a giant buffet line. So many restaurants to choose from. We all decided to try Knuckleheads because it looked good and there was beer. lol We got to the restaurant just before the crowd came. Our waitress(wish I knew her name) was fantastic! Really relaxed service with us. Talked real with us and not all fluffy like 99% of other restaurants force their employees to do. Some cursing and laughs and she was the best waitress I can say I ever have. My whole group loved her! The food was fantastic. Burgers were juicy and full of flavor. Nothing was greasy at all. Fried cheese curds were beyond awesome. Fried pickles were crisp and not limp. Full of flavor and good size portions. Prices are good for everything and great on hot dogs. Lastly the establishment is very clean and comfortable to sit in. Bathrooms were clean, no complaints there. Parking is on the street. The crowd at Knuckleheads ranged from older folks to babies. Luckily once the place is full it gets pretty loud so if a child is there and starts to cry you really don’t notice it. We all agreed we’re going to be back to try some of the other food on the menu and hopefully we’ll get the same girl to help us with our food. Thank you Knuckleheads! You add a great establishment to the area.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I like a good burger and out of all the places in Wallingford, Knuckleheads is about the only option for a gourmet burger. But,(There’s always a but) I don’t *love* it. When I do order from them, I always get it to go. The burgers have always been good, but very greasy. I want to like the sweet potato fries with the maple sauce, but I don’t. I find that the flavor gets old fast. The first bite I was raving about them and by the 5th I wanted it to go away. I also want to like the décor, but I just can’t get into it. It feels like a theme park version of a garage-style eatery. There’s just something about it. Lots of diamond-played steel and lots of red and black. Their beer selection is good! I’ve been several times to meet some friends for a drink. That’s a good thing. And they have darts! That’s fun. The end.

Drove down from Meriden, nice location, nice people. Started with nice spicy dry rub bone in wings — Smoke & Fire dust(habanero) w/a half pour of aGreenflash Road Warrior Rye IPA(only $ 3!) The Stout Baked Beans were awesome, as were the glazed(maple syrup!) sweet potato fries, and the Bruised & Boozed burger. The burger has Brie baked inside of the burger, so it’s a delightful mess! Knowledgable, polite & helpful staff. Had a great time.

We went there for happy-hour. All of the beers on tap were served warm. Which is too bad because they have a decent selection. We ordered an appetizer of potato skins. It took 35 mins to arrive. And when it did it, The portion was small. This was the special and it costed $ 9. The bartender was friendly but we also think she was drunk. We won’t be back.

So to start with a drink I ordered a beer. Crème brûlée stout! Excellent! It really smells and tastes like the name! For dinner I had a Smoked Cuban melt. Pulled pork, ham, swiss and pickles with yellow mustard and mayo on grilled pressed rolls. Yes plural, it is served on TWO rolls panini style. The melt came with nice and crispy fries. Very very good! Had the homemade baked beans which were fantastic, and the mac and cheese which was also really good! I had to try the sweet potato fries from my wife and those where also goo. Staff was friendly and on top of water refills! Very cool place!

I love Knuckleheads. The menu is amazing, to begin with. There is a burger for everyone there; I prefer the Kahuna burger without a bun. I’ve also had the nachos, hot dogs, and other apps and have always been happy with my food. I was sad when they changed the sweet potato fries but they are still the best in town. As for the beer… I would go every day if I could. Knuckleheads is great at supporting and promoting local beers by having Tap Takeovers on a regular basis. The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly and will take a minute to go over the options with you if you’re not sure what you want. You can’t ever go there with a beer in mind, even if they had it on tap yesterday, because the 30-ish beers on tap are rotated regularly. I’ve been there when they’ve completely erased the list and started from scratch because so many logs tapped out. If the food and the beer were all that mattered, this would be a 5-star review. My only complaint is that the bar side is not the most comfortable place to hang out. There are only a handful of tables and they are taken quickly by people who couldn’t get tables on the restaurant side… who then sit there all night. I wish there was a spot at the bar specifically for people who don’t have a seat, otherwise you are elbowing people out of the way to order your own drinks, or standing in front of the waitress station and getting nasty looks. They have a back room that isn’t really used for much of anything, so I wish they would expand back there and maybe put more tables.

Knuckleheads has a unique menu, with plenty of options for any of your junk food cravings. From tasty fries, burgers and stuffed, topped and sauced hotdogs you’re bound to find something to enjoy. I’ve had a bit of everything and always have enjoyed my meal — the burgers tend to be very peppery, maybe the pepper shaker has larger than average holes, so I steer away — but that may just be a matter taste. Knuckleheads is a solid bar food spot for wings and a beer. The only downfall for me, is I prefer Archie’s buffalo sauce and they’re a few blocks up — so I end up there a bit more frequently. They’re a definite 3.5, so a 4 will do.

After reading several Unilocal reviews and hearing recommendations from friends, we finally made our way to Knuckleheads one Saturday afternoon. I don’t know why, but I exoected a dark dive bar… it was not that! Cool modern décor and a casual vibe. We had Delaney as our server, and she was a sweetheart! Looking at the menu, we wanted one of everything! It was a very hard decision. We tried the wings to start, spicy bourbon BBQ. Yum! Wings were perfectly crispy and well sauced. We were pretty full after eating the wings so could not go for the huge burgers this time. We got hot dogs to share, one junkyard dog, one Flyin’ Hawaiian. Both were excellent, but I preferred the junkyard dog. We also got an order of sweet potato fries to share, and they were just as good as other reviewers said. They are a must have! I was also very happy that they had Downeast cider on the tap list. We will definitely be back to try so many other items from the menu that sounded great… pulled pork Mac and cheese melt, chicken n waffles, burgers, more wing flavors! I wish they had a Mac and cheese topped hot dog… I may have to create it next time I’m there!

I would love to write a full detailed review of Knuckleheads, but I was with Angie N. the night that she went and she summed up our experience in way more detail than I probably would have. I was the person who ordered the Hybrid Moments dog. She’s right, it was awesome, there are no other ways to describe it. Overall I would absolutely love to go back the next time I’m in the area.

I was going to the Fitz and the Tantrums show last night, and a friend suggested we go to this place for drinks and food beforehand. I’m not from the area, but she had been here before and it was clearly her first choice out of three places she mentioned, so I agreed. Knuckleheads has a really cool setup. It’s half restaurant, half bar. We sat in the restaurant part. The menu mainly consists of hamburgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches. The hot dog selection was awesome. I’m not usually a hot dog person when I go out to eat, and I almost got the pulled pork/Mac and cheese melt, but I decided I would go with one of the hot dogs because I figured I wouldn’t easily get to try another kind of hot dog like that anywhere else. All of the hot dogs came wrapped in bacon. The one I got was called the Chihuahua Dog — bacon wrapped dog, guacamole, jalapeños, sour cream, and salsa. Bigger than your regular hot dog. And so delicious. I tried a bite of my friend’s Hybrid Moments hot dog(bacon, fried egg, cream cheese, American cheese, and Thai chili sauce)…awesome. There are no words. They have a really unique beer selection. I got the Local Option Morning Wood amber ale(which is actually out of a Chicago brewery). Probably wouldn’t get it again because I tend to like lighter-tasting beer, but it was nice to try an option I had never heard of before. They had a specialty $ 5 cocktail, too, which seems unusual for a Friday night– a lot of bars seem to take advantage of the fact that people will be out drinking on a Friday night and don’t offer many specialties, but the drink was really good, especially if you were willing to pay an extra $ 2 for the cucumber vodka upgrade– REALLY refreshing. Our waitress was Delaney and she was great. It was a really busy night, and it did take the food a long time to come out. One of the downsides was that some of us got our food before others(went in a group of five and the hot dogs came out a good 15 minutes before the burgers), so if you’re the type who waits to eat your food until everyone is served, you would have been eating cold food. Luckily we weren’t that kind of group. The sweet potato fries were the best I’ve ever had anywhere, and I get them at most restaurants I go to. They seem to have been baked in maple syrup. Didn’t even need ketchup or any other kind of dip with them. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese(homage to my original menu selection), and I’m glad I got to experience that. Four stars due to some of the food coming out so much later, but it was worth the wait and seems like a really cool place to hang out. I’d go back– I’d love to sit in the bar section next time.

I had plans to come here for a few days, and was dreaming about the menu every night this week, luckily it was just as good as I expected! I decided to go classic with some some boneless buffalo wings and a BLT, both were delicious. The bacon was perfectly crunchy, and the wings were big and seasoned very well. It was a bit crowded when we went, the restaurant was filled with a pretty even mix of families with young children, highschool and college kids. Overall a very cool restaurant that I will hopefully be back to soon!
