Dao Tailor Alteration & Custom Design

Dao was very sweet and easy to work with. I called ahead to bring my dress in and was in and out within 10 minutes. She knew exactly where to hem my dress and where to take it in. Although I am used to NY prices for alterations, I would come back anytime! She was going on vacation and was able to have my dress done within 5 days.

Dao is extraordinarily skilled, creative, and kind. She’s a natural problem solver when it comes to dress-​making and alterations and always comes up with a solution. She is a gem.

I’ve brought several pieces here for alterations — dress pants, a dress, a blouse, and a winter coat. All were altered perfectly! The coat was a tough job, but she was able to alter it while keeping true to the original style. She is so friendly, and the prices are quite reasonable. Will definitely be a repeat customer.

I only got a pair of jeans hemmed here, but being a short person, it’s something I need to get done regularly. She was excellent! Very nice and friendly and knew what she was doing. And when I got my jeans back they were the exact length I was going for. I would definitely recommend her to anyone!

Amazing workmanship. I went to Dao through the recommendation of a friend and although I live in downtown Boston, I went all the way to Waltham because I only had one shot at having a fitted top altered due to a time crunch. She is extremely personable and knows her stuff, and does it VERY WELL. The top I had was a very fitted bodice with intricate beadwork and since it’s been a while since I last wore it, it shrunk during storage :). I wasn’t sure if it even could be altered but Dao managed and altered it with a very creative solution, and in a VERY timely manner at that! She’s very detail oriented and even when I was telling her that she didn’t need to do something because of the time crunch, she still insisted in doing so. You could tell she definitely takes pride in her work.
While at her shop, I also saw some beautiful gowns and dresses and when I asked her about them, she says she also designs and collaborates with customers who want a custom dress/​gown. She does all of this, and your usual, basic alteration.

I decided to finally write a review because I got great service and quality work here. I live virtually across the street and needed some jeans altered. I’m a guy who doesn’t know much about fashion, so the woman (I don’t know her name) gave me her suggestion. She was very friendly and the service was fast– next day. I wanted to write this review b/​c no one else has and I think she deserves kudos. I will be back.
