Recommend the chicken gyro and fries plate. Very tasty. Only downside is that the food usually comes out just warm.

They do grilled meat and rice pilaf very well. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the ambience is light and open.

12÷20÷25 — two weeks ago I was in MA for a business trip and I ordered-in from The Grill mostly because of how highly it was rated. I was under — impressed as a whole, but I will say that it was one of the better meals I had while on this short trip(note: I was going to give 3 stars originally, but this fact made me bump it up one) I ordered an Omelet which was delicious and a kabob plate. Food came quicker than I had anticipated. If I’m back in the area again I would strongly consider The Grill again.

The gyro is one of my favorite dishes. Real gyros, that is. What the Grill offers is not authentic gyros. I tried their beef gyro and if I had not been starving, I would not have eaten as much of it as I did. The meat was greasy and chewy. The lettuce was old and limpy. The tzaziki sauce within the pita bread was not real tzaziki sauce… it was watery and flavorless. The watery sauce and grease turned the pita bread into a soggy mess. The fries served with the gyro were the generic frozen kind. The reason for the 2nd star is because the staff were quite nice. The food, at least what I tried, was not good at all.

I came here today and had the lamb souvlaki with fries. My husband had the falafal sliders. The service was great, staff was very friendly. Food came out fast. I thought the food was just OK. The seemed to skimp on the lamb, and there was way too much bread/lettuce to lamb ratio. The food was slightly boring in my opinion. The hummus and pita were great. The food is OK, the service is great. Would I come here again? Probably not, but it’s worth coming once in your life.

Went here after the movies. Waited 10 minutes for a table but about an hour before the entee arrived. Food was OK, just worst service I have endured for many years. Not worth it.

I love this place and good but dinner always takes sooooo long to get on the table. If they could get dinner out faster. I would give it 5 stars!

Good place to eat before the movies. They have a $ 8movie deal. I’ve been here a few times and liked the food. I usually get the beef gyro or shrimp plate. Service is good and friendly.

The beef khoubideh dinner plate was juicy and tasty. The hummus and pita bread were amazing as well. I was a little bummed that they ran out of the rice pudding. Well, it’s something to look forward to next time.

I’ve gotten take out from here about 5 times now and every time we love the food. It’s always cooked to order and taste fresh and flavorful. The workers behind the counter are always friendly and give good tips when we can’t decide what to get. I really love the chicken gyro and my boyfriend loves the kabob plates with rice. We recently tried the chicken salad(not sure of right term) it was delicious! I never feel bloated or over full when I eat here– just satisfied! We will plan to return weekly for the delicious salads, rice, and wraps!

judging from other reviews this place is either great or not so great. I’m Glad to say we had a great experience. the food was very good. the service was great too. the décor with the open windows and Mediterranean feel was a great change of pace specially after the winter we had. We will come back and enjoy more delicious food. Thank You.

Was excited to try this Mediterranean place in Waltham. Finally went here. It was a big disappointment. Service was friendly, but slow. I counted 3 waiters and 6 tables including us. Not sure how it could have been that slow. We were seated and waited 10 minutes for menus. That’s a long time in a place not that busy. The food took forever too, after we finally got a chance to order. The waiter was nice, but he rarely made an appearance. Often promising to get something, like plates, and never returned for 15 minutes. To put it in perspective… A table of 4 was seated next to us… about 5 minutes before our food arrived. We finished eating and they still hadn’t gotten menus yet. Yikes. I expected they would leave. The food wasn’t good either. I had a chicken kabob which was lacking in size and flavor. Waiter told me it would come on panini bread. What? I asked to substitute a pita… afterall, the cuisine they offer is supposedly Mediterranean. Fries were so greasy, like dripping in puddles of oil. Tasted frozen. We tried the spanakopita, which was heavy on the oil. Swimming in it, to the point of turning us off from it. We won’t be back. I wanted to love the place. Food was not even marginally good and service was so slow, I wonder how they stay in business. The plus side. Waiter was nice. Parking is easy with a lot right across. Prices are decent.

I’m actually shocked by how mediocre my food was here. I’d never ordered from The Grill, so I had no clue what to expect but for the price I paid, everything really was substandard. Nothing was bad, but nothing was good with the distinct exception of the lamb shish kebab itself. Not the sandwich, which was soggy, but the meat itself– that was excellent, tender and well seasoned. But the falafel was oily, without much texture. I also really did not like the hummus; I try a good deal of hummus from different stores and restaurants and this is the first I’ve ever disliked. It tastes like olives. Period. That’s it. But in a very strange way. Hummus shouldn’t taste that much like olives anyhow! Unless that’s a special flavor! I guess I might return and order another lamb shish kebab, but probably not. If you’re on the fence about this place, I would definitely save the money or go someplace else!

The special with the Embassy Theater is what got me in the door. But, the good food with a Persian flair will get me back.(Don’t miss the dinner and show special. You pay $ 8 for a movie coupon at the restaurant.) It is clearly a family run place a and not a restaurant with remote management. You can sense the pride in their food. Twice we asked about how am appetizer tasted and they brought over a sample worth a complete description. The menu is described as Mediterranean. But, there are so many Greek and Armenian restaurants in the area, this could fall into a stereotype. Instead, it has a Persian flair. For example, I highly recommend the Kashk Bademjan appetizer, which is a mixture of sautéed eggplant, onion and mint. It is a flavorful and delicious combination that was different than what I had before. My very tasty dinner was the Shrimp Salad Plate($ 12.99) — A skewer of marinated shrimp and a side of vegetables are grilled over open fire and served over a bed of lettuce with olives and other ingredients. I really like it when the grilled flavor comes through and there is a nice light lemony dressing that was excellent. Usually, I find that restaurants are too heavy handed with the dressing. But, this was perfectly done. My wife ordered the falafel plate, which she completely enjoyed. When we came back for a second night, we had the delicious lamb stew. The lamb was very tender and flavorful. My wife absolutely adored the rice pudding dessert. Usually, she is not a fan of rice pudding. But, she found it creamy with great added flavors. After speaking with the owner, we decided that the next time we will have him pick some Persian specialties for us to try. This is not a formal place for a romantic date. It feels more like a diner with a counter in the back. That is not a bad thing. I am just setting expectations. There are two large screen TVs on each side of the restaurant, and, fortunately, the volume is off. Expect that it will be crowded just before the movies at the Embassy start. And, expect that it will be empty right after show time. The food is really good and the service is prompt and friendly, which does mean something to me. I will be back.

I love Greek food – I lived in Athens for a year. I have had a really hard time finding good Greek food out here in Boston. I am really excited to have this new place in Waltham! It’s not entirely Greek, more Persian. The tzatziki was fantastic, just the right consistency and great with their fries. My husband and I shared grape leaves(really good, served warm, which is different from what I’m used to, but they were delicious!) and a falafel wrap, which was solid. We had great service on a Friday night. Sad to see the place a little empty – I hope more people discover it! BYOB would be a great addition to this place, if possible!

My friend and I were greeted with this lovely surprise before we stepped into the movie theater across the street and decided right away we were going to give it a shot after the movie. I got very excited, because for the past 4 years that I have been at Brandeis, I never noticed any other Mediterranean restaurants on/right off of Moody Street. I had imagined it to be a completely self-service restaurant because of the sign saying to seat yourself accompanied with the visible cash register next to a counter, but the single waiter in the restaurant was very friendly and attentive. A basket of pita bread with a plate of hummus were complimentary. My falafel plate came with 4 falafels that were well fried(crispy on the outside and not mushy at all), but the chickpeas flavor did not come through that strongly. It was a fair portion given the price. I hope to be back to try some of the other items on their menu. This place would definitely be a hit among Brandeis students who are looking for a quick, inexpensive, casual meal off campus with their friends!
