Buddy’s Pizza

DENISE Denise — What an excellent person, who chose to bar tend here at Warren Buddys.
The pizza and burgers rate high, the atmosphere is ideal, and the staff is second to none.

I had lunch at Buddy’s today and was really happy with the quality and portions of the food I ordered. Service was great and the price reasonable. I ordered the Greek Salad and the 4 slice version of their Lake Huron pizza. I brought leftovers from both back to my hotel for dinner. Give it a try.

As far as I’m concerned Buddys pizza is the best pizza in the world. I’m from Detroit and I’ve had Buddys Pizza since I was a kid back at the Conant location. The quality has been consistent over the years and it is always just such a treat to enjoy a slice of pizza. They also have the best minestrone soup I’ve ever had and today we also enjoyed a family size Caesar salad that was delicious. We were on the way back from the airport picking up my son who now lives in LA and he claims he can’t get pizza anywhere like Detroit pizza so he was in the mood for the best around!

Pizza was undercooked, they forgot to add a topping that we paid extra for, there were hardly any toppings on the pizza or salad. Total waste of money and rip off. Food cost for the medium salad we order must of been less than 30 cents. Very skimpy with items on both the pizza and salad. I will never go back.

Pizza Hut on steroids /​in a good way. I’ll be back! Had 4 square SOP, solid. Great service too.

I live in Indianapolis, family lives in the metro area… Buddy’s is always on my list when I visit!

Very delicious, super frendly and prompt staff. I don’t live in the area, but if I did, I would definitely be a regular! Their list of toppings is pretty extensive, you will most likely find what you are looking for. If you don’t…um…I dont know what’s wrong with you. If you’re debating on going here, just do it!

They have really upped their game in the last handful of years.
Gluten free crust, multigrain crust, kale, vegan cheese, craft beer… they’re definitely paying attention to a more health conscious mass.
I would have never gone here before since it was so heavy and greasy, now, it’s been rebooted positively and is delicious. Will definitely be back.

40 minutes into the promised 15 minute wait I’m was thinking that Green Lantern might be sounding better. When we were finally seated the service and food were actually pretty good.

This is a great restaurant. We like this Buddys best. The interior is full of Paul Adams Detroit portaits. The pizza and service are consistently very good. Always clean. Prompt service. The best of Detroit deep dish. They serve a great variety of bottled and draft beers. Their salads are ginormous. Try the antipasto. Their also known for their Italian favorites like spaghetti. Burgers and Buddys bread are awesome too. Open untill 11 on the weekends. They do a huge volume. Great small banquet/​party facility. T-​shirts are 13 bucks. Have fun!

It’s a different style of pizza. Crisp on the edges with a buttery crust, sort of a deep dish, think Chicago style with ¹⁄₈^th of the sauce.
Had the Detroiter, which is basically pepperoni under the cheese, and pepperoni on top of the cheese. Greasy, salty, delicious. Just a hint of basil lurking. Good stuff.

This pizza is awesome. It has great flavor and comes out looking fresh, clean, hot, and ready to eat. Don’t expect that you will be able to eat just one piece. It’s just not possible. From the cheese, to the sauce, to the dough, and burnt cheesy crust, Buddy’s has a real winner. The inside is comfortable, bright, and clean. The parking lot is always packed and it is a huge parking lot. The food here is just awesome. They should franchise if they have not already. Please bring Buddys to South Florida.
Buddy’s and Louies are neck and neck, but for me, for now, Buddy’s edges out Louies. Anybody would love having either of these places in their neighborhood. They ARE that good.

Stopped here for a work lunch. Another great Buddy’s location. We quickly were seated and ordered. We had a deadline of one hour for lunch, but we had a little extra insurance — the instructor! The greek salad came first and took the hunger pangs off. The pizza took awhile, understandable as it was the height of the lunch rush. We getting a little worried, but it arrived soon after. A nice combination pizza with the Motor City cheese blend — the crust as nicely carmelized as always. When the pizza was served we asked for the check. I think we polished off the pizza before the credit card receipt was signed! I’ll be working a little closer to this location in a few weeks, lots of opportunities to check it out again! Recommend and will repeat!

Consistently happy with this location. Today, they brought underwhelming bread sticks… And minutes later brought a new delicious batch and apologized. That’s service! Service is also consistently good. Pizza is higher than average price, but coupons can easily be found to bring the price down close to average.
Love coming here, even if it’s usually just for events or rewards.

Always loved this place especially the 6 mile Conant location however, this 13/​Van Dyke location always gives me poor service and mediocre food. The last two times there I got sick from from the food, First time by myself and just recently me and my 3 children all had to leave and immediately visit the rest room.
I will not return for a third.

Favorite pizza place hands down. I’ve been coming to Buddy’s since I was a baby. Any of the locations in the Detroit area are great. The pizza has often been imitated bit never duplicated. The crust, the toppings, the sauce = perfection! The true original Detroit Style pizza started here. I’m a huge pizza snob (you can see from my other reviews) and Buddy’s is the reigning champ in Michigan.

We ordered take out. 16 Wings ($ 14.99) and garlic bread with cheese. It was ready in 10 min.
The wings are breaded. We asked for extra crispy but did not get it like that. They were soggy. Hot wings were not that hot. Mild was mild. The wings seemed to be marinated in garlic or something. The taste is decent but it gets old fast and i kept burping up that taste – yuck. Blue cheese was nice and chunky but it too tasted garlicky.
We only received 3 pieces of garlic bread – what a rip off. It was good but they burnt one part of it.
Overall, I wasn’t that impressed. It seems overpriced for what you get.

This is everything Sicilian (American-​Sicilian at least) pizza should be. The sharp angles give you perfect rectangular slices with crisp edges with such an amazing buttery flavor you’d think they actually butter the slices before serving them.
The toppings aren’t anything gourmet or fancy. But you are here for the crust and the consistency. One bite took my Dad back to a night twenty years ago. And when you have been doing something this well for that long you really have no reason to change anything.
