We had a great time. Nice and sincere service and food was above expected. A simple review for a great place to dine. Thanks guys.

Burnt Ends are some of the best I’ve ever had. The Mac n’ cheese was also delicious and creamy. Brisket was good, and not too smoky(a problem I’ve had before at places). Keep your eyes out for their trailer, they do food truck appearance I’ve heard. I have not run into them though.

Blew into the Victory Inn today for lunch after a business meeting and was psyched to find that their Smokehouse was open for business… on a Monday. Usually, the Smokehouse is only open on certain days of the week and I didn’t think Monday was one of them. All 5 of us opted to walk on the wild side and try the«House» for a little authentic Michigander Bar B Q cooked in the back of the parking lot. Three of us opted for the Turkey sandwich while the remaining two grabbed the Pulled Pork sandtown covered with the Smokehouse’s Sweet(rather than Spicy) sauce. We also«bought in» at the Bar B Q counter and got real poker chips to trade in for some coleslaw and mac’n cheese at the window inside. Both the Turkey and the Pulled Pork plates drew rave reviews from our table as did the Mac’ cheese and slaw as we washed it all down with Diet Cokes. The only downside of our lunch at the Victory is their quirkiness of having to place orders at three different places inside and outside this dive bar. Our waitress, as friendly and as helpful as she was, would only take drink orders. The Bar B Q had to be ordered outside at the truck. The slaw and mac’n cheese came from the walk-up window inside the bar. Whew…Glad I had my Fitbit on today… Got nearly a thousand steps in before taking my first bite of my succulent Turkey sandwich. Despite the long-distance runaround(1970s YES song) had a great experience and a 4-star lunch at this comfortable mainstay at 12 and Mound.

The smell of BBQ emitted as I drive past Victory Inn every day enticed me to come in… and unfortunately it was not worth it. It is a weird set up; you order your food outside at the shipping container and bring it in yourself. Unless you are getting a side, which you redeem inside with a poker chip. We ordered the ‘smokehouse baked beans’ but they were inside Victory… does that mean the Victory Inn made them or the Smokehouse did? Either way, they were not smoky at all. And the pulled pork we ordered was cold. It was like they cooked it in the morning and that was the end of it. I ended up brining it home so I could heat it up, but it was still disappointing. If you want goo BBQ, stick with Bad Brad’s or Lazybones.

I found victory smoke house on Unilocal and figured I would give it a try. My fiancé and I absolutely love a good BBQ– which is sometimes hard to find in Michigan. The minute you pull into the parking lot you get hit with the smell of some good BBQ. We ordered the brisket, pulled pork, spicy sausage, St. Louis style ribs, burnt ends, Mac and cheese and the baked beans.(We pretty much wanted to try everything!) And we are so glad we did!!! This place is amazing! We will be back!!! And I will definitely tell my friends! Keep up the good work!

This place serves some good bbq! Ill explain each item I had in detail below for thpse curious, but overall, everything was great. Each of the meat items had a good smoke flavor. The mac and cheese is pretty darn good; they use quite a bit of cheese in the dish, and I enjoyed it. This place also has awesome customer service, with a friendly and patient staff. The bbq is ordered around back, sides are picked up on the inside. Fortunately, this is a real bbq place where you can smell the smoke when you walk in. This means that everything on the menu may not be ready when you want it. Ive had enough terrible bbq to know thats a good thing. Be patient, and thankful; this guys are actually trying to make real BBQ. On to the food, I tried an assorment of the offerings on their menu, which entailed: beef spare ribs, pork st louis style spare ribs, beef brisket(with and without sauce), smoked pork belly, burnt ends, and mac+cheese. The beef ribs were great. Fyi these are beef spare ribs, with the meat between the bone, not short ribs, so it it may take a bit of work to get the meat off the bones. I didnt have a problem with that, and regardless of personal feelings about the cut, I believe anyone will find them to be delicious. The pork ribs I found to be particulary good. There really isnt any other major bbq place in the area I can think to compare them too, but they were good. There was a good rub on the meat. The ribs came with a sauce already on them, which was less intense, which I actually liked. This is one of those places where I felt the sauce was added to compliment, not to cover up weak flavor. The brisket here was good. Great flavor, with a nice smoke ring. They also leave a little fat on top, like most good places. The burnt ends were good as well, and if you have never had them, this is one of the few places in Detroit I recommend you give them a try. The smoked pork belly was interesting, and something I really enjoyed havinf. Not too many bbq places serve it here. It has more of a char and bark on it than other things here. I enjoy that flavor, but those not use too it may want a bit of sauce with it. The mac and cheese is pretty darn good. Its a thicker mac and cheese, with a heavy amount of cheese. Its the kind of mac I love.

Absolutely love this place. Big fan of the dirty d sandwich but honestly, anything you get is fantastic. Reasonably priced and very friendly staff. One of the best BBQ places around in my book.

Get there early for lunch because tables will fill up! I got a sandwich with pulled pork and brisket which I highly recommend. Great smokey flavor and a lot of food for your dollar. The Mac and cheese was also really cheesey and delicious as well. ** revising this, I found out they have a spicier BBQ sauce, be sure to ask for it!

I read a ton of really good reviews and finally had the chance to stop in and try the BBQ. Initially the order process is a bit confusing. You have to go to the back, pay for the the BBQ’d meat, then any sides you buy must be taken into the bar and picked up at the service window. You then get a seat and get another server for drinks. I’m a good tipper but being presented the opportunity to tip 3 times seems like a bit of overkill. Now the food. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, pork belly sandwich, and a side of mac and cheese and beans. We found we had two big complaints with the sandwiches. 1) They are doused with sauce and 2) The bun is very stale and crumbly. I’d have like to sauce myself, and now I know if I go back. I would much rather just have slices of white bread and make my own sandwich but it’s not my place. The pork, It was smoked nicely, however it was very cold. I know bbq sits and that is part of the game but it wasn’t even warm. With that said, it was decent. The pork belly was sub par and we probably wouldn’t order that one again. It was pretty tough and just warm. The mac and cheese, is standard mac and cheese, nothing special or bad. The beans are the star of the show. These are hot, lots of pork, creamy and would be something I’d order each time with our without bbq. I think with a few tweaks this could be a really good place.

I had the beef brisket. Meh. It was tough and had too much fat for my taste. Not sure what others are raving about with this place.

I have mixed feelings about this place. We walked into the Victory Inn, the bar part, and Amber, our waitress, instructed us on what to do. She explained that we sit in the bar but have to walk outside into a little shack part and order our food and pay there.(Amber btw, was so amazingly nice and friendly. She made my experience here that much better). So off we went. I reallllllllllly wanted the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Hrmph. it’s not ready yet. Ok, so how about the Turkey. hrmph, it’s not ready yet. So, I guess I’ll get the Brisket Sandwich and a side of Mac N’ Cheese instead. I guess I might not be a huge brisket connoisseur but I’ve had it a couple of times and to me this brisket seemed extremely fatty. To the point of it being slimy in my mouth. I didn’t enjoy this or the flavorless bun it came on. I managed to eat half of the sandwich and most of my Mac, which was quite tasty btw. My cousin raved about all of the food she ordered, so maybe it’s just me :/ I would like to come back to try the Pulled Pork and to see what all of the hubbub is about.

Ribs are Great, but $ 24.00 is way to much for a slab of ribs with out any sides. If you want me back as a customer again, you better lower your rib prices. When you first opened your ribs were $ 16.00 then went to $ 18.00 then a month later went to $ 20.00 and now they’re $ 24.00. Sorry to say but you just lost a loyal customer.

This is by far the BEST barbeque in Michigan! My wife(from San Antonio) gives it the Texas seal of approval! I highly recommend the brisket and pulled pork. The brisket is juicy with a perfect smoke ring and the pulled pork melts in your mouth. The Mac and Cheese is delicious, but the baked beans are only okay. The price is great for what you get. Ihave already visited for times and I will be back many more times!

I just got done shoving my face full of pork belly, baby back ribs, sausage and brisket. and I must report complete satisfaction an all fronts very delicious REALBBQ. I think I pretty much ate a half pound of sausage by myself. This is not pre-made or left over from yesterday reheated BBQ, its fresh off the smoker. I like to think I am a good judge of BBQ, I have been smoking and grilling for many years myself. I sometimes have a hard time with what many people«think» is good BBQ. Chain restaurants are typically not. The BBQ area has real smoke, a great indicator of goodness in BBQ. They have a great setup outside the Victory Inn Bar and Grill. Its a converted shipping container with the BBQ trailer attached to it. A really a cool setup, looks like something you would see in East Texas. All heated and covered so don’t worry about being cold if you have to wait in line. I had a feeling it was going to be good from the setup alone. You can order to go or you can go into the Victory Inn and they will bring it to you. I took it to go and sped home like a maniac. Great job guys. I will be back, it was worth the 26 mile drive. I would recommend this place if you are looking for some fantastic BBQ. Worth the drive for sure.

Great new gem close to home! Had the BBQ baby back ribs –half slab for $ 12, beef brisket for $ 8, baked beans n coleslaw. Best baked beans I’ve ever had… ribs were perfect and the sauce was amazing. Huge portion of brisket –great cuts of meat. My only suggestion would be that the brisket be served a bit more tender. BBQ sauce is awesome sauce. Bring it over from the tent behind into the Victory Inn(only kink that needs to be worked out and it wasn’t a big deal) and grab a 23oz Coors light for 2.75. I would say this was a Friday night steal… PROTEINMAHHHH
