I just found Anthony’s Old World and I was so excited to find an Italian deli sandwich in Warwick I had to rush out and get one, really two. I had to try the chicken rabé sandwich and the Italia grinder. $ 7.95 each. The Rabé was fresh tender and flavorful but not too much garlic which sometimes happens when people make rabé. But not here they took the chicken and it was grilled it had that nice smoky flavor to it and there was a touch of black olive. So after eating half of that sandwich I then tried the Italian and it was fresh nice cuts of soppressata, capicola, prosciutto A medley of olives and spice with a touch of olive oil. Anthony has the bread made freshly at a local bakery just for the deli. I just found out that they do a Wednesday night BYOB($ 2 fee pp) but that will unfortunately be ending soon for the summa and will begin again in the fall. If you live in Eastern Cranston, Warwick North or South Providence side try Anthony’s. PS the people were great! Pss try the sandwiches with a bold red wine!

If it wasn’t for my friend recommending that we come here for lunch, I wouldn’t have given it the time of day. Anthony’s is at the end of a mediocre strip mall and the restaurant sign is a faded mess, but once you go in and see the menu you realize that you can’t always judge a place by its exterior. The food is absolutely fantastic — my Italian Stallion was comprised of sausage, fried eggplant, banana peppers, red peppers(and something else I think)…all on a large crusty loaf of bread. I also had the pasta fagioli and it was equally delicious. My wife had an Italian(they have a lot of different variations) and my wife said it was fantastic. We spoke with the owner and he said that he goes to the market almost every morning to buy his inventory as he’s very picky about what he selects and wants to make sure everything is fresh and up to his standards. The next time I’m in the area you can be certain that I will stop in. Yum.

Went here after recommendations from a couple people and it definitely lived up to the hype. I got the Roma, basically their Italian grinder. Probably the best I’ve had in years. Provolone is cut thick so you can taste it. Served on great crusty bread.

Eating the leftover eggplant pizza from yesterday, the morning after! As I do I’m thinking to myself… Self, thank you once again for over ordering lunch and thinking of your breakfast self” If you get the opportunity to get a spinach pie before they are gone you will know what I’m talking about. This place is a gem and Anthony is the heart of it all. On and off I’ve gone here for years and every time I come back I realize that I need to come more! The bread Is parbake which makes it always crunchy outside and soft inside. The meats are not cheap quality. The soups are always hearty. The premades are homemade, LASTLY if there are any baked goods left on that deli case when you get there GRABONE! Lol anything made here is worth trying. GRAZIEANTHONY!

UPDATE: I went back a few days later for the roast beef panini and it is SOGOOD! It has roasted red peppers and rabe and the meat is so tender. I love rabe in sandwiches but oftentimes it’s watery and makes a mess… not here! — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – I went here today for the first time after seeing it multiple times on Unilocal and reading all the good reviews. My husband and I stopped in for lunch sandwiches to go. He got the Milano and I got the Venetian. We both agreed the bread was awesome… just chewy enough and it didn’t crumble all over the place. My sandwich, which consisted of capicola, soppresatta, sharp provalone, and a mixed olive salad, was delicious. The olives were more of an actual component rather than a condiment-type afterthought… there were tons of them! They could have used a bit more meat, though, for the $ 7 price. My husband’s sandwich– prosciutto, mozzarella, tomato, basil, and olive oil– was good although the prosciutto they used was very different from the Parma prosciutto we’re both used to. It was cut much thicker and didn’t have as much of a cured flavor. Still tasty, just not as expected. It was hard for me to choose my sandwich because they all sounded so good. I definitely want to try more! This spot is tucked so far back in the plaza that it’s invisible from the road and the sign isn’t particularly large or eye-catching. I’ve lived here for 5 years and do all my shopping at the neighboring Stop and Shop and I.M. Gan’s liquor store and never once noticed it. I couldn’t believe it’d been there this whole time when I finally decided to find it today! Anyway…definitely worth it! I’ll be back!

Pros: Fresh bread with a great tough crust with chewy inside. The meats were tasty and flavorful. Veggies were amazing and fresh. Cons: A little out of the way for me but I can’t wait to go back and try another sandwich!

They make a pretty good meatball sandwich and it’s quick. Easy place to grab lunch. They also have a number of items that you would expect at a small Italian deli. I haven’t tried the pizza but it looks great.

Ok. Maybe I am missing something. Sandwich was ok. Chicken Caesar salad small and for the price not worth it! There are many other options around town! Like I said, sandwich ok but not worth the hype.

Absolutely amazing sandwiches. The bread the use is perfect. All the ingredients taste fresh and flavorful. We live pretty far from here so we can’t go often but the few times we’ve gone, we’ve been super impressed. I have tried some of their soup, and also the Milano sandwich and they were both perfect and big portions. We took the kids with us and they were very welcoming and friendly. When my 1 year old got a little grumpy the owner came over to chat with him and distract him a bit while we waited for the food, before I had to take him out to cool off. Great prices considering the quality, service and portions. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for lunch in the area!

I think the best way to describe this place is that I feel very European whenever I order one of their sandwiches. You might call their sandwiches no frills, but they put a few simple, high quality ingredients on a chunk of fresh baguette and magic happens. I’m particularly partial to the Napoli and Milano. This deli is tiny and tucked into the back corner of a strip mall. It’s easy to miss but take the time to pop in. The people are pleasant and friendly and you’re getting some well made food.

Sandwiches are awesome here and their Wednesday dinner is even better. They also deliver which is big for me. Everyone I’ve dealt with is friendly and courteous. I’ve never eaten at their place so I can’t comment on service but the food is as good as anything around.

That is one goooood samach. I was looking for some place I had not tries and ended up at the corner of Airport and Warwick Ave. The place there was closed so I immediately hoped on to the bat phone and dialed up the Unilocalster. I was informed that there was a place just down the road. So in Texas speak, that could be up to 10 miles. In RI speak, it was a drive. About 2 miles. Anyway, tucked in the back of a strip mall, there it was. It was a Wednesday. I point that out because on Wednesdays they do a soft close at 4 of their sandwich line and devote their attention to Pasta Night. Not being in the mood for pasta and convincing them that I drove ALLTHEWAYFROMJOHNSTON, they were happy to see if they could oblige on the sandwich front. I had the Italiania. Oh what a great sandwich. Fresh bread, fresh toppings, big portions friendly staff. I think I shall return to the scene of the crime, on a Wednesday … only for the pasta. I figure of they are that intent on serving pasta, on its very own special night, it has to be good.

I wanted to try this place because of all the great reviews. I decided to try it for a random date with my boyfriend. When we got there the open sign wasn’t and the lights were off(we got there around 10:30). I went in anyway since I saw someone on the phone and knew they opened at 10. When we walked in I said hello and the guy on the phone just looked at me. We looked at the illegible menu and was trying to figure out what they served. The guy eventually went to the back to continue on the phone(sounded like he was taking care of a customer). After a few minutes we decided to leave. As we were leaving the guy finally got off the phone and asked us how we were doing. I said we were all set and left. The guy should have acknowledged us when we walked in. He should have said hello and he would be right with us. I would have then waited and asked for a paper menu so I know what they actually serve. The board menu gives you a headache and makes you dizzy when you try to read it. May come and actually try the food one day. But that wasn’t a great experience for me.

So you don’t want to go to Federal Hill. You don’t have to. Best sandwiches in Warwick. Steak special, the Roma, the Capri you can’t miss. Anthony knows all his folks by name and is a very nice guy. Head on down and grab a bite you won’t be disappointed. Disclaimer: great review so no small business owner has to endure another boob from Unilocal

We’ve driven by this little deli for years and finally tried it. We only wish we’d tried it sooner. The sandwiches are delicious! The bread that they serve the sandwiches in is really unlike any other deli. It is crusty on the outside and soft inside. Amazing! There is a huge assortment of italian sandwiches but I usually order a chicken sandwich special that is a breaded chicken cutlet, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and provolone cheese. It is literally the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. The kids get meatballs and sausage on a plate, they love that. We usually go for lunch on Saturdays and the staff is very friendly and always seem happy to see us. We’re so glad we found this place.
