I have been here many times over the past 10 years. Typically we go downstairs to the tap room for a burger. This is a really special place as it goes back to the mid 18th century. It was a cold night and the fire was roaring. You feel like George Washington going into this place. So the ambiance is special, the service was pleasant but a bit spotty. Had a Pine Island IPA on tap which was great. Their house Cabernet was also good. We got adventurous and ordered potato leek soup, NY Strip, Short Ribs, and my wife got a burger. The soup was good but I’ve had better. The short rib was flavorful and tender. The chopped root veggies that came with it over a bed of mashed potatoes were a bit under cooked. Not sure how this is possible. Overall the meal was very good. My wife’s burger was excellent. The real disappointment(besides that it took almost 80 min. to be served dinner) was the NT Strip. It was maybe ¾″ thick, perfectly cooked, and tasted like it came out of a Walmart family pack. Either raise your prices and buy from a better distributor or serve a different type of steak, maybe sirloin? It was really bland. It was pan fried so maybe that has something to do with it. Next time I will stick to beer and a burger…

The atmosphere and the service get 5 stars the food and prices get 1. Maybe it was an off night but our food and the table next to us coincidentally both had bad meals. We ordered the salon and the NY strip steak. The Salmon was bland and flavorless. It was served with greasy risotto which was also bland. The NY strip was gray and tough. The server offered another item from the menu but we declined because by the time it came the first entrée would be either cold or done. The table next to us ordered the same thing and did replace the steak with a burger which came out first rare. It was sent back and finally came out right but well after the other person was done eating. Maybe it was a bad night but when your paying close to 80 for 2 for drinks and a meal I expect it to at least taste good. And that was the bill without the steak on it. Living locally I won’t be back.

I’ve only been once, as we are new to the area. We had a wonderful time however, I had one martini too many and can’t remember my meal! ha! The bartender/owner who’s son is the chef was wonderful but he is a heavy handed pourer! I hadn’t realized until it was too late. My husband, sister and I sat downstairs and it was great. We hope to return and I’ll stick to the wine. My husband is very snobby when it comes to food and he really liked it and wants to return.

i LOVED this place! My boyfriend and I went here for my birthday weekend — we were staying in Warwick which is one of our favorite weekend escape places & wanted to try something different. The experience was so cozy, special and delicious. I’ve been suggesting this to almost everyone I know!

Went here during a weekend at the winery in Warwick. Being used to amazing food close to home makes me a little bit picky while trying new places on vacation but i am well aware sometimes you have to be happy with the simple because not everywhere is NYC. That being said — we had an amazing dinner here. Cipriani it is not BUT it is quaint and charming and my oh my it was impressive. Go for the tasting — you will not regret it. We even did the wine pairing because we know how to roll. GENEROUS pours for every course(we know how that can be right people?). Every single dish was amazing. Chef did a beautiful job of making our bellies full and our heads a wee bit tipsy.

Went for me and my husbands 1 year anniversary. Was a Sunday so not many people so was nice and romantic. Ian was very attentive and even gave us a dessert on the house for the occasion. Food was delicious and would go back for sure. Atmosphere was amazing. Beautiful old house with tons of charm

One of Orange County’s best restaurants. Beautiful shabby chic setting, creative entrées & great service. Out of the way location adds to ambiance.

Fantastick. Creative. Finger-licking good. We had their chef’s tasting menu and everything on it was great. Be careful if you don’t like truffles — chef uses them extensively.

I am extremely picky and this is my second five star review this weekend. Blackened catfish, creamed spinach, beet salad, and the banana bread pudding were all outstanding. Clams and scallop appetizer were also very good. Rustic, old country atmosphere with a 250 yr old fireplace. Drinks and wine excellent. Service was very friendly with a local, you are at home or at a relatives country house feel. Fairly priced and very fresh, high quality ingredients. Great job Iron Forge Inn. Will be a regular patron anytime in the area.

Everything about the Iron Forge Inn is absolutely wonderful. The food is fresh, locally sourced and truly made from the heart. From the wings & burgers on the Tap menu to the duck & scallopes on the upstairs dining menu everything is sure to please a rustic and/or refined pallete. The atmosphere is country charming meets rustic romantic and just delightful. This is a must try restaurant that I assure will please.

Made a reservation here a couple weeks in advance of a surprise weekend getaway to Warwick with my boyfriend. When I called, I asked specifically if we could be put down to eat dinner outside in the outdoor dining area they advertise on their website. I was told we could absolutely sit outside and my reservation would be marked accordingly. Upon arriving for dinner, I mentioned to the hostess our request to sit outdoors and was promptly told«there’s no chance of that happening, we have a wedding tonight». Disappointed, we were sat in a glass enclosed porch which seemed to carry the smell of cat urine and was pretty hot with little ventilation. After waiting about 10 minutes to be acknowledged by a waitress, we had decided to only have appetizer salads and go elsewhere for our main meal. Both the beet/fennel and the walnut/Gorgonzola salads were indeed tasty, but nothing to write home about. Overall, I’m sure they put out some good food, but I was unhappy with the poor coordination.

I am a concierge at a luxury hotel in New York City and have to say: I LOVED my experience at Iron Forge Inn. My girlfriend and I rented a car, spent the day at Storm King park, visited historic Sugar Hill and ended the evening with a romantic dinner at Iron Forge Inn in Warwick. We reserved a one-of-a-kind experience: the Chef’s Tasting menu(7 courses), served in a private gazebo. The experience was so unique, romantic and memorable we could not wait to tell others about it! The gazebo is perched up on a hill which you have to take a mini hike to. We were seated at the white-clothed round table, with candles everywhere, music and champagne waiting for us upon arrival. The waiter, Steve, was excellent: efficient, professional, and very friendly(yet unobtrusive). The food was great: don’t expect Jean Georges-level gastronomic experimentation(which we didn’t want); but a tasty, hearty American meal, mostly from local ingredients and prepared with a slight modern twist. No raspberry-jam-infused foie gras here, but the foie gras dumplings did just fine! The lamb was cooked perfectly. It fell off the bone yet was not over-cooked to the point of lacking any juices. The duck was yummy. We hope to come back with friends next time. If you are looking for romantic, unique, memorable: come here and you will not regret it.

Been hearing great things about this place so me and my boyfriend decided to try this place out. It was so lovely inside and was surprised with how great the food was! From our appetizers to our entrees, everything was so delicious and we felt very satisfied after we left. Can’t wait to make it out again to another nice dinner and hopefully we’ll try some desert this time!

Iron Forge Inn — a beautiful and absolutely exquisite restaurant that is a gem nestled in Warwick. It is something out of a painting, but once you step within its historic walls, you instantly feel at home at this warm and inviting restaurant. The staff are so kind and friendly, they go above and beyond to provide a memorable experience that leaves a lasting impression. And this coupled with the elegant food is just wonderful. The executive chef Erik Johansen is amazing — being able to achieve the ultimate comfort food with such finesse and detailed nuance. He truly shows creativity with his farm to table menus, and really lets each season sing on the beautiful plates he presents. This restaurant is an absolute favorite, I would highly recommend to anyone!

We went with a large party for thanksgiving. The food was just blahhhhh and the prices were a lot! I had hair on my scallops but they took that off the bill … So they get points for that! The waitress was sweet and helpful. The music was wayyyy too loud but they offered to switch our seats. I would not go back

Had a lovely brunch with my family today. My only complaint is the fact that there was no muffin or croissant basket for the table, as one would expect at brunch. Also the hash is not your typical hash… it was very good, but not what I was expecting ordering hash. I do recommenced and I will be returning.

Quaint country inn set in warwick ny, hudson valley. Family owned and operated, with friendly, professional, attentive staff. My fiancé and I were seated in a small yet romantic room which held four other tables which made for a quiet, pleasant dining experience since there was only one other table seated during our meal. Now for our meals. The dishes were served in a very timely manner, and were plated very elegantly. We never felt rushed to finish our serving before the next arrived. My scallop and pork belly appetizer was delicious with flavor profiles that are not frequently found in this area. My roasted duck breast came with a char on the skin that I wasn’t aware would be prepared as so or to my liking(personal preference) The accompanying roasted baby root vegetables, and the almond milk, fois gras sauce were very good* my fiancé had a very delicious tomato and mushroom ragout with truffle custard and Parmesan crisp, again flo or profiles not found in this local area. She also enjoyed her surf and turf*entrée, reserving comment on the(turf) the hanger steak was a little tough, however the chef did recommend medium rare, she prefers medium Our desserts were excellent, Banana bread pudding for me, and the chocolate plate for her. We both had a little trouble with(chasing) our desserts around the too large plates. The stars on the food descriptions dictate that I understand the various diets of today’s society, and the difficulties a chef faces to please patrons I felt the chef was light handed using salt during preparing the dishes for my liking, nothing a little shake at the table didn’t fix. We will most definitely return for another meal. 2 apps 2 entrees 2 desserts 3 drinks 135

What a delight to dine here. This quaint and historic place dates back to 1760 if one believes the number posted on the side of the structure. They started with an amuse bouche of creamy soft goat cheese and potatoe on a plate drizzled with local honey which worked extremely well on my insides. Four course prix fix was near excellent. Shaved fennel and beet salad: delicious, interesting, and no complaints. Second course was a soup with mushrooms and other very natural seeming ingredients which would have been perfect if not a pinch too salty. Third course short ribs which was cooked perfectly, had a lot of flavor, and NOTDRY as one recent reviewer lamented. For dessert I had the honey cheesecake which was fairly light and I rate it high on the delicious scale as I do for the rest of the meal. Other family members at the table also rated their dishes highly. We ordered a Cabernet from California which was good enough. Most of the wine selections were from very common vintners and therefore not very interesting. The service was extremely nice but unfortunately the busboy was too young to be on target with anticipations of what our needs were. I wished that they had the LBV Porto, but instead I drank the tawny which was so-so. All in all I would say the prices were in line with the quality and would recommend a visit.

Went here for my birthday on Friday night and was really looking forward to a great dinner. The menu looked promising and I’ve heard really good things. I was greatly disappointed. I ordered the short rib. Where do I even begin to describe all of the culinary fails that were made. First off the short rib was dry. No sauce. Just some pickled onion that was a poor attempt at pickling. How do you not serve some type of sauce with a short rib? It also lacked seasoning. The risotto was the worst risotto I have ever had in my life. It was extremely overcooked and had no depth of flavor. Where was the cheese? It was not creamy at all and was just a blob of starch. My friend ordered the duck med rare and that too was tough and lacked any type of seasoning. I don’t know if this was an «off» night(we all have them, I know) but there is no excuse for the lack of heart that was missing from these dishes. It seemed as though the kitchen was just trying to push the plates out without no real sense of care. Usually I would give a place another try but I don’t think I will with the Iron Forge.

SOYUMMY! I can’t believe the overall rating is only 3.5 stars… how can this be… I loved the appetizers, we had mushroom ragout(AMAZING blend of flavors) and the scallops crudo(SO fresh and jumbo) Main dish of surf and turf and pork chop were great too. Every corner of our plates were scraped clean. Service was attentive, environment was unique. Will DEFinitely come back despite the distance from my home.
