As an avid watcher of Bar Rescue when I heard my friends band was playing at Marley’s I thought it was a perfect chance to check out this updgraded bar, sadly I was not overly impressed. The décor is tacky at best and it seems like all the money was spent on some fancy lights and a dance floor that no one used. We sat at a table and waited and waited and got NO service what so ever, finally we gave up with our seats and grabbed a drink from the bar. The only attention we did get from the wait staff was a waitress nagging my boyfriend not to spill our drinks on his way back to sit down. Oh, now you see us huh? Our friend had ordered fish tacos earlier in the night and they were average. I hope this location can make the best of the warmer weather and outdoor seating next year, if not in my opinion Marley’s by the beach will be washed out to sea for good.

Food is still only ok, my turkey burger was over cooked but I have to say our waitress really was great. On top of everything and always there with another drink just in time! I think if my burger was cooked right it would have been really good, liked the SUPER spicy mayo.

We live in North Kingstown and my husband had never been to Oakland beach, so we took a spontaneous trip. While walking on the beach we heard music and were drawn to Marley’s on the Beach. It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon around 2 o’clock. We took a seat in the outdoor area and I headed to the tiki bar to order us a beer. The bartender told me the draft I wanted was available inside, so I proceeded there. The inside was basically empty, with two bartenders chatting with a friend. I moved to where they could see me(5 feet) and proceeded to wait several minutes for them to finish their«non-business» chat with their friend. I ordered 2 Narragansetts. She must have poured out over 5 glasses of beer(or foam) before she could get one acceptable glass. I told her to forget the 2nd one, and ordered another brand. We were hungry, so we ordered food from next door at Iggy’s and sat on the railroad ties that separate the two… drinking beer, eating clamcakes, and listening to the GREAT«open mike» music. As I’m sitting there, I was thinking… Bar Rescue could really help this place. It has a lot of potential. Imagine my shock when I learned that Bar Rescue HADALREADY been there! A band member made the announcement that the episode was premiering the following day and they were having a BIG celebration. WHAT??? I watched the episode and don’t see what they did. I never saw anything to indicate that they sold food. While we were outside, I never saw a waiter/waitress. Some of the outdoor umbrellas were broken giving a shabby appearence. Not enough outdoor seating. They didn’t improve beer taps(clearly). I don’t get it. We loved sitting out, enjoying a beer and the music, so I think we’ll have to give it another try. It wasn’t awful, but theres a lot of room for improvement. Probably wouldn’t cost much either.

My 1st time there we ordered drinks and they were served in old dirty plastic cups. We ordered sandwiches one was warmed up in the microwave the other was still half frozen. Also this was after Bar Rescue tried to save there asses I will never go back or ever bring anyone there.

Fail. Would give zero stars if I could. Been here before and after bar rescue — where are the changes? Lol. Absolute fail — Iggy’s needs to sell alcohol — maybe, since they own the bldg they can open an Iggy’s Seafood Restaurant that serves alcohol and make better use of their bldg.

I am updating my review now because of bar rescue as i think they didnt do much to the place. but drinks are reasonably priced and its nice to sit by the fire. I dont thinki would try the food here(they need to update there menu to more a bar easy eat menu. getting a new chef. The have the room for some bigger bands they need to utilize it, some of these bands are mediocore at best. but its close i live in comminicut and there isnt many fun places to go around for a night drink. Bartenders are friendly

I was pleasantly surprised by Marley’s on the Beach. We both ordered the Seafood Mac ‘n Cheese, which was not only delicious, but was a very generous portion for its price compared to other places. The beach atmosphere is nice as are the $ 2 Narragansett drafts. Waitstaff was a little slow, but I’ll definitely be returning.

This was our first time here, we came with a Groupon to check it out. Calamari was good as was the service, drinks and location, right on the water. Not as busy as the seafood restaurant next door and a great place to stop by and have a drink. The apps were good but dinner was just fair. My husband had the seafood mac and cheese that was just ok, more milky than cheesy. I’de come back for drinks but definitly not dinner

Dear Marleys, I love you. I reeeeally do. I love the beachie feel I get each time I visit…(gives the same vibe as some of the spots we have visited in Florida and the Bahamas. ahhh… vacation.) I love that I can see the water and can squish my toes in sand whilst sipping a margarita on a sultry afternoon. I love warming those same toes at the edge of one of your wonderful, smoky fire pits on a cool summer night. Your burgers are fabulous. and your salad with lobster meat is to die for. But alas, my sweet Marley’s, I worry about you… I worry if you will survive. And I SO want you to survive. Yet. it seems to me, you have so far to going in understanding your customers. And basic customer service. Let’s face it, a place like Marley’s needs to capitalize, BIG-time, on every dry, warm day they get during these sweet(albeit too short) summer(and, if lucky) early Fall months. Yet, it seems to me that you haven’t a care in the world. Case in point. my husband and I have visited several times thus far this summer. usually on a Saturday night(I must say we do so miss your Karaōke Sundays.: /and have made some observations. #1 — We thoroughly enjoy live music, but YOUR live music is too loud. Way, waaaaaaay too loud. We might not be in our 20’s anymore, but we can barely stand being inside for more than a minute or two to use the restroom or order a drink at the bar before we need to run for cover for ear-relief. Youch. Is that really necessary? Your establishment is not the size of Carnegie Hall, why the need for such ridiculously excessive volume? I have to be honest that when we have a hankerin’ to stop by on Saturday night, but the weather was such that we would have no choice to remain inside, we have to decide against a Marley’s visit, given the painfully disproportionate sound surroundings. I highly doubt you would lose those customers who come in exclusively FOR the live music were you to lower the volume to tolerable levels, but you definitely lose US occasionally for this and I have to wonder how many others you might also be losing for this issue. #2 — as mentioned in #1 above, we have needed to go to the bar to order drinks, despite the fact that we are sitting at a patio table, seats on the sand or at a fire pit. For whatever reason, although there seems to be a presence of waitstaff wandering about, no one seems to have a clue to approach us to ask«How are you doing?» Nor do they seem to notice our almost empty glasses and ask«Would you like another?» My husband and I were there Sat. June 29. We had one drink(which my husband retrieved from the bar) and sat, for over an hour, and were not approached even once by anyone. No, wait. I take that back. At the end of our hour+, some young man came by and, upon seeing our one empty glass and 2nd-almost-empty glass, proceeded to grab them, basically to clear the table, not to ask if we would like more. I am not advocating for hard-sell pushiness where waiters/waiters hover around you every other second trying to increase their tab — that is just obnoxious… But SOME semblance of customer attention would have been nice. Don’t these people want/need tips? Or are they just in a hurry to be done with their night? Anyway. I still love you, Marley’s, I do… I just hope you might be able to be a little more attentive to my needs. If so, think we can look forward to a long, mutually happy relationship.

Gave these guys another try because I heard they were on Bar Rescue. Haven’t seen the episode yet but it doesn’t look like much got rescued. Wasn’t planning on ordering any food we just went for drinks but we wanted to check out the menu to see if it was changed at all because it was pretty small and boring when it was Marley’s(Oh yeah they changed the name to Michelle’s Beach Club and put a really ugly new awning up). The menu still says Marley’s on it though and the bartender informed me that they were out of 90% of the menu… which was only about 10 items so figure that out. He actually pointed to the couple next to us and what they were eating and said that’s it, that’s what we got. Oh well. Go by for a beer on the beach, maybe someone will have gone shopping by then and you can order some chicken fingers.

Met some friends here on Saturday for a little lunch & drinks. What a great spot! We had a nice table outside which looked out at the water — didn’t feel like RI at all. The drinks were quite tasty as evidenced by how many the 8 of us drank. Lava Flow, Melon something, Grape Soda, Sangria etc etc etc. All were delicious. We all split some nachos which were very good. I had the buffalo tenders for lunch — they were beer battered which I had never seen before but they were awesome! The batter had a crunch still and the sauce(buffalo mild) was quite good. Normally I go something higher than mild but the 90 degree temps ruled that out. ;) One friend got the fish and chips and the fish was the biggest portion I have ever seen. It looked like a turkey leg on steroids. He said it was quite tasty. Other people got chowder, burgers, and I think my allegedly gluten phobic friend got a spinach salad which was pretty good. Service was great and it really was a nice time. Not my typical hood but if I was back in the area I would definitely stop in.

Well we went to Oakland Beach in hopes of trying something other than Top of the Bay and Iggy’s. We remembered that Marley’s was nearby and thought«hey they have outdoor seating and we could enjoy the evening there since it was quiet enough». We thought wrong. if you have never been to OB, anticipate that the scenery is not south county!!! We only ordered waters to start as drinks… Plastic cups with exposed straws… We ordered Fried Calamari for an appetizer which stated that it came with pepper rings. FYI… Pepper rings to them equals Hot jalepino peppers sliced up… not banana pepper rings. We ordered fish n chips(sweet potato fries) and a burger. The Entrees came to the table, no calamari yet. The waiter realized that the orders were not right and brought them back. He returned with the orders corrected… Still no calamari. The burger was over cooked and the bun was flattened and soaked with grease. My fish was thickly battered with what we could only think of as fish wrapped in a dough boy(only not as good). I will say that the fish portion was quite large. After starting to eat the entrees we finally received the calamari. Can you say clumps of tentacles balled together in batter. Taste was good but I was the only who could bear to eat them since they were so hot. Grossed out after a bit due to the dismantling process of the squid. Oh by the way… Smoking outdoors near tables is not good for anyone… Unless you are a smoker. Live and learn and never return!

My fiancé and I went here for lunch on a Sunday. It was nice to be able to sit outside, but the«beach» there was not very nice. The food was mediocre. I just had a salad and a cup of chowder, which was standard. My fiancé ordered a burger that was supposed to come with guacamole and chipotle mayo, neither of which was on the burger that he recieved… we didn’t care enough to say anything. His french fries were a weird orange color that I’ve never seen on a french fry before. The worst part was that people could smoke anywhere in the outdoor dining area. We definitely won’t be coming back.

I don’t often go to the OB, but now that I’ve found Marley’s things might change! I went on Friday to see a friend’s band play the bar. It was clean, had a great selection of beers, and overlooks the beach with plenty of outdoor seating. The space, though small, lent itself well to the 5 piece band, all the equipment, etc without feeling cramped at all. All in all, this is a solid place — I can’t wait to go when the weather is a bit warmer to enjoy the tiki bar outside. :)

I grew up in Warwick and the Oakland Beach community had certain stigmas during my many years there. But during my most recent visit(the first in many many years) I was pleasantly surprised by the recent renovations to the area. There are new restaurants, the beach has been cleaned up and the art festival on Tuesday nights is a hit(so I’ve heard). Marley’s… The sign outside sold us for dinner. It gave 9 reasons to drink at Marley’s bar. SOLD! Dinner was okay. I wish they used fresh turkey patties and not frozen ones because the chipotle mayo, guacamole dressing and pepperjack cheese were delicious together. The fries were above average. Staff was very friendly, welcomed us and informed us of future events at Marley’s. I just wish more people were there. We were the ONLY customers from 6:15 to 7:30 on a Tuesday night. A band was in the process of setting up so maybe the crowd is bigger later???

This place was EMPTY but it was 6pm on a weeknight. The food was pretty tasty i got the turkey burger with a side of potato wedges instead of fries. The food tasted good but there were only 4 wedges :(There was a acoustic musician setting up so there is live music. I was sad that they didn’t have unsweetened ice tea. Only sweetened. Prices were reasonable but portions were not that generous. The staff were really nice + even told us about upcoming events. They have karaōke on the beach + an 80’s party coming up! If you want a lil caribbean beach feel right in Rhode Island this is your kinda place.

I found Marley’s on a trip to Iggy’s(It is right next door). The line was too long for Iggy’s and my boyfriend did not want to wait, so he dragged me into Marley’s. What a great surprise! It is in the perfect location, right on the beach. There were a handful of people inside, but we asked to sit on the patio in the back, which was quite cute! The food is good, the drink menu is fun and the outdoor seating area with live music is a lot of fun. My boyfriend had the chowder and clam cakes, and said they were great, so if you do not feel like waiting for Iggy’s, Marley’s is a great little spot!

Such a shame to waste a great name on a poorly run establishment. Unfortunately we printed out a coupon before reading the two most recent reviews. We got there and it was a very relaxed setting with a good sized deck and nicely spaced out tables. We seated ourselves on the deck and waited 10 minutes for a waitress. We then decided to move inside because it was a bit windy and we wanted service. After 5 minutes a waitress came and took our drink order. The drinks took 15 minutes but were worth the wait. We ordered right away and our waitress put our order in. The service from there went straight downhill… or I should say just short of absent. We waited a good half an hour+ for two entrees. I had the Jamaican Shrimp and my GF had the Rib Eye, which was delivered by the bus boy. My dish looked good, but the shrimp were unpeeled. If I had known, I would have ordered something else. The rice was bland and slightly overcooked. My GF’s steak was overcooked as well, but seasoned well. About half way through my peel n eat shrimp dish my hands were caked in spice. I couldn’t get the waitress to even look over at our table. She did stop at another table to ask how their food was. I am assuming that she ignored us because she knew there was an automatic 18% gratuity on the coupon. I couldn’t detect any manager in the place as well. Meanwhile a karaōke DJ came in to set up his equipment right behind us, moving tables and making us feel like we were in the way. His friend or GF sat right next to us staring at his setup and made me feel uncomfortable for about 15 minutes. She wasn’t participating in the setup, just staring in his direction. Finally I tried to waive our waitress down, but she seemed occupied mentally, even though there were several empty tables inside. Finally the karaōke girl was nice enough to get up and ask a busboy for some napkins, as she must have overheard our conversation. The busboy came over but my meal was done. Finally the waitress came over 10 minutes later and we got our check. All I have to say further to the waitress is she should thank for the 18% because she deserved less than 10%. The busboy deserved at least 8% of it. All she did was greet us, bring drinks, take our order and bring us the check, and it was an hour an a half + for all of that to happen. She didn’t even check to see how the food was. We won’t be back to Marleys…2 stars for the drinks and relaxed environment. Props to the busboy too.

One needs to make the distinction first that this is the new Marley’s with new owners — the remarks earlier than the end of summer do not match with the quality found after the reopening. The food is always good — although the menu has been growing quickly and I have not had everything. I think the pulled pork is one of the best dishes, although the nachos are quite good. They always have weekly specials. Although I have never had it from what I can tell the kids menu seems to be quite reasonably priced — something like 5 dollars for a full child’s meal and a dessert. What a deal. Good deals on brunch too. The people are very nice there — more than accommodating. The space is large and the outside will be awesome in the summer. There is a pool table, tvs, high tops, reg tables, and a long bar. Bathrooms are always clean and there is a unisex one for overflow. On the weekends there is normally a small fire pit lit outside — I dont smoke but its quite a nice deal — I will occasionally go outside just to hang by the fire. There is normally a live band or live music — and recently they will be having comedy acts. Overall — from my experience– its a great place to drink on the Friday/Weekend scene. Cheap/Fairly priced drinks along with some great craft selections, large open areas, live music, pool tables, food, an outside smokers area, and a great staff pull together a great restaurant/bar —– a place quickly being known as one of the hot spots in Warwick. Each person has their own tastes but I would recommend checking it out at least. offers gift certificates for cheap that might take the risk out of trying a new place — its worth the try… I have never been sorry.

Marley’s is easily one of my favorite ocean-side venues to visit in the summer. Having just recently opened its doors in this new location(a Marley’s can be found on Thayer St. in Providence, RI as well), I decided to give this place a shot. After laying out on Oakland Beach to get my tan on, the idea of purchasing a tasty beverage lingered on my lips. In I walked to Marley’s On The Beach.. . and what a pleasant surprise it was! I found myself sitting at an outdoor Tiki bar, with the grass thatched roof faintly rustling in the wind blowing off the ocean, soft sand filling the premises, a multi-tabled patio behind me, a acoustic guitarist strumming the like of Jimmy Buffett and the Beatles, and a cold glass of Blue Moon draft in my hand. Incredibly relaxing and beautiful. Honestly feels like one has been transported to a tropical island, without the cheesy fake-ness one can encounter at a backyard luau of sorts. Our bartender was quick with drinks and extremely sociable. My brother who accompanied me on this trip, spoke in great length about the new restaurant and the changes they’ve made from the previous location. A round of free iced Rum Runners made their way around to all the patrons sitting at the bar.. .. a treat from our firend the bartender, under the premise that it was hot and he felt like testing out the blender :-P Can’t get better than that! Though I didn’t try out the menu.. . I will definately be back to partake in what I hope to be, a delicious and mouth watering meal.
