I used to go to Thayer Arena every week as a kid. Between my brothers’ hockey games and practices and my figure skating lessons our family spent a good amount of time in Warwick. There were a few places to eat close by. Well, places that my Mother would go to. She did not like fast food but would take us anyway to the BK next door. There used to be a Newport Creamery not 100 yards away. But Subway was really her choice to feed 3 hungry kids. I came back yesterday. I needed something to eat that wasn’t heavy so for the first time in my life I ordered a salad from a Subway. When I think of it, ordering a salad at Subway makes sense. I mean they basically have a salad bar in front of the workers, right? So after the server asked if I wanted a chopped salad or a regular salad I hesitated and asked what the difference was. NO, I am not seriously out of the loop. I just know not to assume that one term means the same everywhere. So I learned that chopped at Subway means they take the lettuce, spinach, and onions, place them in a bowl and chop them with a rocker knife. Then they add the rest of the vegetables, toss and empty the whole shebang into the plastic bowl and cap it. I’d gotten the«Veggie Delight» because I didn’t have enough imagination to get anything else. I was informed that I could have any salad dressing or sauce that’s in the prep area. I asked for Ranch but only found out after leaving that it was Fat Free Ranch(I hate FF Ranch but was too hungry to care at that point.) The employee was polite and very helpful so honestly I wasn’t going to count it against him. And he generously gave me 3 of those packets which was very decent. Croutons and a fork&knife were packed into the bag as well. This place has always been pretty much clean since I was a kid. Back then they had the old subway wall paper that decorated every store. That is gone now but the store(which is tiny,) is neat and looks like most the others with the faux wood paneling and yellow counters. It maybe has 4 booths or 2 booths and 2 tables. They have the self serve soda fountain that I like. This place seems to almost never be empty. Like I said, it’s small. It’s across the street from the rink/pool, next to the Honey Dew Donut store and only has one way in/out. The street is a bugger to cross and is almost always busy. I do not remember ever having nasty food here or poor service. If you want to read the menu go online before hand so you’re not standing there gaping like an imbecile. The order queue is short and narrow. It’s obnoxious where they put the refrigerated drinks. If you don’t grab it before you order you’re stuck pushing past the others waiting to order to go get it then leave for the door.

I like this little joint, simply because when I ask for extra pickles, look out! The place is small and the lot fills up quick but it is on the way to Cub Scouts so it’s conveniant and I prefer to give the kiddos this as opposed to BK or McDonalds. Friendly staff and one of the cleaner Subways I have been to. Not that they are all nasty, but the tables here seem to always be clean and the floor swept.
