My friend reserved an art session for us on a Sunday at 4pm. We had the whole place to ourselves and it was so much fun! They started out by giving us artists caps and aprons. We were then shown to our easel. After filling our palette with different paints we went to work on our painting. I really liked the hands off approach the staff took with us. You can pay more for a lesson, but we were just looking to have a good time with no pressure of making the perfect paining. They had books with several different picture ideas if you needed help knowing what to paint. We brought our own picture for inspiration. A bottle of wine and two nonalcoholic beverages were included in the session. We were only able to finish half of the wine and still focus on the painting. We were there for a little over two hours. While we were painting, the staff would come by occasionally to offer advice such as using the hair dryer to dry the acrylic paints and add layers to the painting. It was just the right amount of guidance, not overbearing at all. After finishing the painting we signed our initials on the painted wall behind our easel and the staff took some pictures of us with our masterpiece. It was the perfect way to spend a rainy May day in D.C. I would highly recommend ArtJamz to anyone who wants to try painting your own picture while drinking and having fun with friends.

Me and my friends(group of 5 people) spent wonderful time in artjamz dupont yesterday evening! We would say, especially thanks to one of the staff member who guided us through the whole settling down and painting process — his name is Logan. He was extremely helpful and very professional. He made us feel comfortable, and obviously knows how to do his job! He took good care of us, we were impressed. We will definitely see you again ArtJamz!

Michael M.C., thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my review. It’s encouraging that the studio strives to make improvements based on patrons comments and reviews. That alone is worth a couple more stars! :-) I am glad you are able to expand into VA and I look forwarding to giving the new location a try. Afterall, I did come home with a really great party favor(my awesome painting) and so did all of my friends — and they were happy about that! Thank you again.

I went here with my mom and aunt who were visiting from out of town and we loved it! The staff was friendly and helpful, and it gave us a chance to unlock our inner artist! They have fun inspiration books and great painting materials. I would definitely go again with friends! It would also make a great place to have a party.

SAVEYOURMONEY&PAINTATHOME! I went to art jamz on a Saturday night with a group of friends for our good girlfriend’s birthday. She reserved some spots for our party weeks in advance. When we arrived nothing was organized and there were no instructions. We stood in line behind another group thinking we had to pay 1st. Honestly, there was no direction and the staff said nothing to us. While in line someone eventually comes over to us and says we can get started and she said she would give us a tour of the place. She didn’t introduce herself. There was no welcome or greeting. It was just strange. So the tour she gave us consisted of us looking to our lefts to the paint supply area. SERIOUSLY! The lady giving the tour wasn’t enthusiastic, she seemed a bit bothered that we were there. Keep in mind, we are a chill crowd. So she explains that we just pick out a picture from their books and then figure out how to paint it. That was the first and last that we saw of her. There was no direction, NOTHING! I had to ask her where we were painting because she didn’t even tell us where are canvases were set up. So we all got started and another staff member rushes over and says we need to pay. She made it seem urgent and as if we weren’t in line when we 1st arrived to pay. They obviously have poor management there. Quick to ask for payment but shabby on providing good customer service. Bye Felicia!!! I’ve been to a paint night in another place before where it was instructor led, seated and worth the money. In this case, there was no instructor, we had to stand up(which really wasn’t a big deal for me) and I heard other people complain about not having a seat. I did see little stools that were covered in paint that could have been used. I’m trying to figure out what we were paying for at art jamz. The paint and the space, perhaps? So I start doing the math on if this is worth the price because I have good quality paint and brushes at home. A canvas is only a few dollars, the paint they had was standard, which I understand, being that this is a business. The brushes were cheap, and the customer service there needs ALOT of improvement. I would NEVER go back there again. I felt like our party could have been treated better and more effort should have gone into making sure we had a good experience.

Loved this! Perfect for valentines. Parking is tricky so get there early to look for a good spot on the street.

We visited Artjamz today for a staff outing and to say that I had fun is ANUNDERSTATEMENT! I have never painted anything, and I absolutely loved my experience today. Gloria was so patient and kind and she helped me paint a photo of the Toronto skyline… I am quite the needy person, so she helped me with the sketch and I did all of the painting. Thank you a wonderful experience! We will definitely be back!

Pretty fun place overall. A little disappointed that the class my husband and I signed up for started almost 30 min late, but the staff was super friendly and helpful in understanding the basics of painting. The ambiance promotes creativity and the background music made it feel fun.

My friends and I had a great night here for my birthday! The people that work there are great, the environment is friendly and encouraging, and the music is perfect for the DC crowd. I’m only debunking a star because the checking in and paying needs a lot of work. They need a more efficient system because the lines were terribly crowed and long(about 20 minutes) which obviously cuts into paint time. Also, it is frustrating how much ArtJamz charges for bringing in your own canvas. In my opinion, $ 8/$ 10 is a pretty hefty fee for something I already paid for. If it was $ 2.5 or something, I would have thought the fee was reasonable, but the current rate feels like a penalty. Because of this, my friends and I considered having our own paint parties at our homes, a thought that wouldn’t have ever crossed our minds otherwise. But don’t let any of that discourage you from going. You will have an awesome time. Just remember to get there very early and expect to spend about $ 30 or more.

This place is simply awesome. I wanted to do something different for our date night and they did not disappoint. It’s everything the site says it is and more. The staff there was personable, knowledgeable, hospitable, and inspired is to make a masterpiece on our first(of many) trips here. The drinks and music, and like minded clientele only added the fun. I can’t recommend it more. Superb.

Such an amazing staff. I came for a birthday party, and I’m no where near a good painter, but with the staff supporting and encouraging me, I felt much more comfortable. Louham was the best, and I’d definitely go back with her help!

The location is convenient, staff are pleasant, the supplies are abundant, and the experience is both unique and memorable. Note, however, that reservations available on the site for $ 18 each are, in fact, credits toward the«experience,» not the total cost of the event. That distinction is stated online, but it’s so counterintuitive that more than one member of our group overlooked it. It starts closer to $ 35 per person for the smallest canvas and alcohol is extra.

Love. Love. Love this place. The staff is very friendly and so helpful. They give you tips on how to paint and how to make your painting look better. They have good deals as well. Roman was very helpful to me.

I’m not that into this form of art but we did still have a good time. I like how friendly and helpful the staff was and that I was able to make something out of nothing. Great place for a date.

It was a rainy Sunday, I had friends visiting and we were feeling artistic. Browsed through the web and came across a nice deal on Groupon. Hopped on an über and arrived at ArtJamz to channel our inner creativity. ArtJamz not only met but exceeded our expectations. The deal was pretty generous, we could have chosen a large canvas(20“x24″) and still had enough credit for a drink. We were a bit intimidated so we went for medium(16“x20″). The studio assistants were pleasant and provided us with all the information we needed to know to make the most out of our afternoon. They gave us brushes, paint, aprons and wine :) 2 hours of inspiration, bonding and laughter ended up in a nice portrayal of city landscapes. My friend being from the NY area decided to paint the NYC skyline while I decided to attempt Van Gogh’s starry night with a DC twist. I went home and hung it proudly on my wall. I know my friends did the same. I loved everything about ArtJamz and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to enjoy a good time. Glad to have a place like this in DC

I absolutely loved artjamz evening session and I’m so glad I discovered this place. This studio is conducive for letting your creativity flow on the canvas with all the supplies provided as part of the session. All you need is to walkin with your creative ideas. The adult sessions let you sip an alcoholic beverage so that it’s just you in trance with your work of art. For me this experience was all the more exciting and nostalgic as I picked up brushes after about 15 – 20 yrs. And this was bringing me back on the track I’d strayed away from(my cherished hobbie with some laurels to my credit :-)). I wish the sessions extended for 3 hrs as medium-large canvas needs a little more time. I dont know if there is an option, but if so you might need that for large canvas painting. I couldn’t give finishing touches to my painting but I’m still satisfied with the outcome. And most importantly the staff was very helpful, patient and friendly. They taught me few tricks to mix colors and use sponge for effects. If you are a novice you would definitely benefit a lot from their guidance. Overall its a fun place to play with colors and be on your own irrespective of your painting skill level. The time just flies away there. I look forward for my next visit now :)

Loved it! Celebrated my birthday here with friends and what’s not to be fun with wine and some paint brushes?! It’s the perfect girls night out! You don’t have to be talented with art. You just need to be open to doing something fun with friends and have something to show when done.

Definitely exceeded my expectations… I have been to other«wine and paint» places and this one was by far the best! Went Saturday night for my boyfriend’s birthday, there were about 8 of us and they were able to accommodate everyone(even though I didn’t realize we really should have booked a private party with that number… oops!) The music was great, they had a full bar with plenty of options ranging from bottles of wine to red bull vodka cocktails and the best part of all was that they cut you loose and let you do your own thing. There were a TON of supplies and the 2 hours flew by. Will definitely go back if not for another party, maybe just a night out to mix things up.

I had been here once before for a date and it was fun, but I had the best time when I came for NYE. It was me and my best friend. Package price was great, staff is always friendly and helpful… Couldn’t ask for more. I definitely don’t paint on my free time nor are mine anywhere near as good as the ones you see on the walls. Regardless, it’s such a comfortable and chill environment that I felt at ease. They have some interesting and tasty cocktails! Stop by for something different and fun in the city.

I was so ready to give this place 5 stars but this incident has to be the worst business I’ve ever dealt with… Let me explain. Im from California and I came here during my first night in Washington, D.C. hoping for a great night out with my boyfriend. My time at Art Jamz was actually really enjoyable– the vibe was great, the people were cool, everything just seemed to be going right. UNTILL we decided to leave our paintings over night because it was raining that night in DC. I mean everyone that stayed there late was doing it. I thought it was safe because they seemed like a business that cared about their customers and art. They didn’t make it seem like a big deal to leave it there for a day. Of course we had to sign a waiver, I admit we signed it but little did we know that our paintings would be painted over… YES, THEYPAINTEDOVEROURPAIDPAINTEDCANVASESAFTER1DAY. It was my worst decision leaving it there. I just don’t understand what kind of business paints over someone else’s PAID work after one day… It’s ridiculous. The date and our names were written on the back as well so they should take into consideration before painting over it that we only painted it the day before. I think the worst part was the lady on the phone who told us that our paintings were painted over after one day… We called saying we wanted to pick it up but she carelessly told us that it’s been painted over. She described one painting that has been painted over but the other one she said she would«try» to find it but it’s probably painted over as well. She told us with little care and just kept telling us that we signed a waiver and usually paintings don’t get painted over the next day but she guesses they just had time so they did it. I am upset that we paid full price for two medium canvases that were just painted over the next day… What kind of business is this?! I know this isn’t a storage space for paid canvases but come on, after 1 day?! If you’re going to offer to leave paintings there over night to just paint over them the next day. Don’t leave customers the option to trust you. It’s deceiving and unethical.

This is surprisingly a lot of fun. We ended up getting a bit rushed since we went close to closing. Prices for liquid refreshments were way out of whack(expensive! 4 bucks for a bottle of tea or something like that) Each person in my group had different discounts through Unilocal or groupon. Unilocal was maybe 30% off, groupon was 50% off. Back story of why I even went: After going to a few professional galleries and loudly announcing that everything is a ripoff and I could easily paint everything I see here, I was inclined to put my money where my mouth is. Suffice to say, not even my mother would want to hang up my finished product Great selection of colors, brushes and cool painting equipment no normal person will have at home. Staff was not particularly helpful but I also did not ask for much input. I would definitely go back again but probably only with a groupon.

Totally a great business! It’s our job as patrons to keep good business open and thriving! Will and Brittany took great care of us for our Anniversary. Will helped us choose the best canvas size and time option. Brittany provided excellent coaching as we moved through our painting. We learned to blend the different colors in our sunset. I highly recommend this for a date or just a great time with the friends. Stop reading and start planning to go. Will and Brittany will take great care of you.

Unleasing my inner Jean M. Basquiat Attending ArtJamz was an awesome experience. I painted«Just Art» with a mixture of colors that turned out looking amazing. I was a little skeptical but painting at the event was such a fun activity. I’ve never painted on a real canvas before, but it was fun and you get keep your painting as a souvenir. I would advise anyone coming here to be prepared to stay awhile… time spent depends on what you decide to draw/paint. I came in a little late but from the time I walked in the door, I was treated like a true guest of the store. Their staff is amazing in every way and explains each and every steps of the canvas painting process to me. The painting supply items were in large supply and variety of colors to choose from for the entire group. The staff continually makes sure that you are enjoying your experience and they will help you with any question you may have so your item will turn out exactly as you want it to. Only problem was that the AC was out and the place was a bit hot. The staff pulled through and brought in some fans which made a huge difference. Overall I would totally come back here, and also recommend my friends to this location!

This place is fun! I wish that I could really paint, but I’m still working on that. I have been to many of the painting and wine classes that give you direction on what to do. This place has a different twist where they provide the paint, canvas and the painting area with some wine with your purchase and you can paint what you want. The new location is so much bigger! They have two floors and all type of canvas sizes. You can really let the creativity flow here. I do recommend that if you have a painting in mind that you want to do; print it before coming. Its kind of hard to look at the picture on your tiny cell phone when you can print it and tape it to wall at eye level and paint away. Go here, its fun, the people are cool and you will get some ideas and maybe pick up a new painting.

For 3 hours on New Year’s Eve( ), we painted our own canvas, a large group canvas, and the walls; all while listening to awesome music and chowing down on hors d’oeuvres. It was a really cool way to celebrate New Year’s Eve… something different than the typical get-so-drunk-I-can’t-remember-anything experience. I found it interesting, even refreshing, that people didn’t care much about the midnight moment. We did the countdown(starting at 5, not 10; because people didn’t even realize) and then for just a minute or so, people drank their champagne, pulled poppers, blew party horns, and threw glitter. But then it was basically back to music and painting. Nice, clean fun. As for the venue, they had a large supply of acrylic paints, pastels, pencils, markers, brushes, and stencils. It’s not a huge place, but it was certainly big enough to host ~50 people on NYE. And the staff were very friendly and helpful, offering advice and guidance on people’s works. As you can see from my painting, I went«abstract»(i.e., I had no fucking idea what I was doing), so there wasn’t much advice for them to give. But they still stopped by my easel to check in. Overall, a really cool experience; especially on New Year’s Eve.
