hands down one of the BEST pizzas I’ve ever had in my life!!! DEFINITELY the best pizzeria in DC; made in an real brick oven! Large pizzas start at only $ 12.95 and $ 2 for each topping. It’s about 8 or 10 slices. I always order large and eat on it for about 2 days. Tastes just as wonderful as it did the first day! Authentic ingredients, lovely service, great atmosphere. Absolutely delizioso!

I’d heard rave reviews about this place from several people, so when I got the chance to finally check it out I had pretty high expectations. I am happy to report Bacio lived up to the expectations(and maybe even exceeded them!). The service was great and the restaurant is very cool. My group of 3 ordered one large and one small, which was MORE than plenty for three people. The large pizza alone could serve 3. I went for the Seaton(roasted red pepper, prosciutto, cherry tomato, mozzarella, pesto sauce) and it was excellent! The pesto and red peppers were not too overwhelming, which they sometimes can be. All the flavors blended really well and held together on the delicious crust without falling apart(a huge plus for me). We all split the Arugula salad and it was good, but definitely not the highlight as there was far more cheese/walnuts/cranberries than there was arugula. This place is close to my house so I’m looking forward to many trips back to check out the rest of the menu!

Great pizza! It’s a neighborhood place that offers much better pizza than any other place in the area. Glad to have it nearby. It’s our go-to. I think it’s better than Rustik.

Great Pizzeria, good prices and amazing customer service. I was visiting from out of town and the owner offered me free sample of their homemade ice cream and even gave me a free cookie. Who does that? The pizzeria is located on a quiet street with the option of dining out doors. At night the whole restaurant lights up, and you feel like you are sitting amongst the stars(very chic and romantic). — Happy customer :)

This place was actually recommended to me by a friend, so we walked over together to check it out. If you plan on eating inside, note that there’s additional seating upstairs. The stairs can be hard to see. In fact, had my friend not been here before, I would have assumed that there was only 1 table inside at which to eat. We seated ourselves upstairs near the bar and waited on our waitress. As it turned out, we’d be doing a lot of that as the meal went on. Our waitress was horribly inattentive and the dining area was small. The pizza, however, was absolutely delicious. I had never been to a place where the topping were underneath the cheese, but that was the case with my pizza here. After freaking out momentarily thinking that they had brought me a plain cheese pizza, I was able to enjoy what turned out to be an amazing pizza. Do yourself a favor and take your food to go if you decide to eat here.

Great pizza. Probably the best margherita I’ve had this year even though it was not a traditional Neapolitan. Great sauce along with the sliced cherry tomatoes perfectly zinged with the buffalo mozzarella and basil. The eating area inside is tight with just two tables. Your best bet is on the patio unless you use a wheelchair. Then there’s no place to eat since there’s a step to the patio. Even the path from the entrance to the inside counter to order is not wheelchair accessible either because of a small table. Even though it’s a converted house, these barriers are easy to remove and should have been.

Baccio is the best, and since moving to the neighborhood we’ve had it at least twice a week. The patio is wonderful especially at night and the inside cute and cozy. Take out specials are great! The Bloomingdale is my favorite and they also offer gluten free crust :)

Despite living in Bloomingdale for a while, I hadnt made it to Bacio, despite wanting to try it for a year! I finally stopped in on Saturday night with some friends visiting from out of town, and we were NOT disappointed! 3 of us ordered the calzones and the 4th person got a large pizza(in case we wanted to try it!) and it was way too much food! the calzones were delicious, but I think Ill order the pizza when I return(hopefully soon.) On the way out our friends got some ice cream, which was delicious as well! Happy to have a cool neighborhood spot like Bacio!

So my roommates had been giving many compliments to this place… so I tried. I went there on a sunday and ordered a small pizza to share. It was slightly better than dominoes. It wasn’t gross, but is wasn’t good. In fact, pretty terrible. Ugh. never, ever, ever again.

I’ve figured out that for some people, traveling is a way for them to be happy but for me, I’m perfectly content trying out a new restaurant, an activity I find more sustainable in more than one way. First I get to support my local community; second I get to share a good experience and third I can afford going out to local places more than I can afford overseas trips, reducing my carbon footprint and putting money back into my neighborhood. Since I’ve been car free, I prefer to choose places that I can walk to or take the metro to, and Bacio, while a bit of a hike from the metro, was completely worth the impromptu trip with a friend after work. We arrived shortly after its 4 pm opening yesterday and found ourselves walking up to a beautiful patio and restaurant/store. There was a mini playground set up, suggesting a neighborhood friendly place to take young children, planters with fresh basil, lights strung up around the patio, and a bunch of picnic tables at the ready for al fresco dining. My friend and I chose to sit inside on the first floor and have service. I ordered the Eckington while she ordered the Bacio’s Margherita. We both opted for the small 10″, which they qualify as being«good for one person». I personally ate half because I ate a big pasta lunch, but my friend ate the whole thing. We both agreed it is the best pizza we’ve had in the DC area. The cornmeal crust is top notch, and it doesn’t hurt they use organic ingredients and support other local businesses by offering their products for sale. The plan was to come to the neighborhood for Grassroots Gourmet but when I suggested pizza, she was up for it. We were more thrilled to see that they had red velvet(the real reason we came) and chocolate cakes from Grassroots Gourmet but decided to go to the actual storefront itself only to find out that cake slices are not sold so we went back to Bacio. This time, we chose to sit upstairs, where there was slightly more space and much cooler. Downstairs was sweltering and while it could have been because we were eating fresh hot pizza that was generous in toppings and didn’t fall apart, we didn’t want to endure sweating so much the second time. The server was the same in both instances and was very sweet and accommodating. We encountered lovely service all around. Upstairs is a lovely area with a couple of booths, an interesting wagon wheel table, and a couple of tables in the front part of the row house where my friend and I chose to sit. It’s a beautiful and peaceful place and kind of makes it hard to believe there’s been so much violence in the Shaw neighborhood lately. The cake was good, a little dry, probably from being sliced and in the fridge for some time, but the frosting was sublime. It had a beautiful shimmer, was rich and creamy but sugary and light, all at the same time. Each time my friend ordered something besides water to drink. The first she chose red wine, the second time, she chose prosecco so they sell alcohol and I saw DC Brau in the counter fridge. They also sell dog treats, cards, Moorenko ice cream, Uncle Chip cookies, and soda.

There are few better things to do in the summer in DC than sit on the patio at Bacio’s eating pizza, enjoying a glass of wine and following that up with some of their delicious ice cream. I sincerely recommend this place and I am an extremely picky born and bred New Yorker when it comes to pizza. The Bloomingdale and the Eckington are standouts to me. The restaurant is clean and quaint and the servers are very kind and attentive. I wouldn’t recommend Bacio’s so much for take out. The pizza is best eaten hot and fresh and doesn’t hold up too well to reheating.

When Bacio opened up in Bloomingdale, I was ecstatic to have another food option– any food option– in the neighborhood. Little did I know that it would quickly become my go-to«I had a bad day at work» dining location. The staff is friendly. The new patio with picnic tables is a great for people watching. Their prices are reasonable for what you’re getting.(Check out the take out specials on their website for deals!) But for the important part: the food. Bacio serves up the best pizza I’ve had in the city. Red sauce is fine as a base, but IMO it pales in comparison to pesto. And their pesto is so. good. I’ve had many of their Creation Pizzas and am always happy, but prefer to make my own: pesto base, pepperoni, mushrooms and spinach. The small pizzas are the perfect size for one person to have dinner with a few slices left over for lunch the next day.

Bacio is in Bloomingdale and it’s a great feature of the neighborhood that continues to grow in its diversity of food options. From me, it’s 2 blocks away so it’s perfect if I want to grab something quick with little to no hassle. The staff is friendly and the quality of the pie is definitely above average. I haven’t eaten there, but they do have outdoor seating which would be nice for a small group or family. If you’re looking for take out pizza and you live in the area, I would definitely check it out. Some folks think they’re pizza is the best in DC, while I don’t agree with that, I can’t say that their argument is without merit. Bacio, Bloomingdale’s own slice of something great and reliable.

Just another reason to love Bloomingdale. I came here on a recent Sunday early evening for dinner with a friend and we sat outside on the terrace. It could be that this is a new neighborhood for me or that it is a quiet contrast to 14th street, but something about sitting outside here made me feel like I was on vacation. I love how their pizzas are named after different neighborhoods — I split the«Shaw» with a friend– it came with ham, baby arugula, cherry tomato, Bacio mozzarella, and pesto sauce. The others look really good too but I’ll probably have to get this again when I go back. The atmosphere was really relaxed here; granted it was a lazy Sunday around 5 but we sat for a while talking and felt no pressure to leave. I even opted for dessert, which I don’t normally order. When the server told us they have honey lavender ice cream I had to try it. It was really good– and this is coming from someone who is not a big ice cream person. It wasn’t overly sweet; in fact it was pretty light with a lavender aroma that was not too overpowering. There isn’t a lot of outdoor seating but I believe they have seating upstairs and this would also be a nice place to pick up food from if you live nearby.

What a fantastic place tucked in one of the more charming rowhouses of Bloomingdale. Bacio pizzeria isn’t pretentious or expensive, but it IS a place where you can get a banging pizza. Five of us sat in their brand new upstairs dining room, and it felt just like that – like we’d popped in on someone’s really nicely decorated quaint living room, and they just happened to have three fantastic pizzas for us to try. We got three large pies: the Bloomingdale, the No. 81, and the Eckington. The Eckington, with pepperoni, ham, sausage, onion, Bacio mozzarella, and tomato sauce, is basically a meat lovers pizza – and it was my favorite. This was a tough call because I loved them all. The Bloomingdale, with prosciutto, cherry tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomato sauce, melts in your mouth. The No. 81, with ricotta, gorgonzola, roasted garlic, fresh mozzarella, parsley, tomato sauce, was really interesting. They chose to throw in the garlic in whole cloves, and initially you’re a bit thrown off by the thing. But once you bite into it, you get the rhythm to their madness. It’s actually quite delicious. I absolutely recommend popping by here on a weekday. You’ll have the place almost completely to yourself, you’ll have a good laugh, you’ll try a good pizza, and you’ll go to bed at night feeling like the world isn’t such a shithole, after all. I can’t guarantee that last part, though.

This is one of the finest newly renovated eateries to enter this neighborhood, which is changing for the better. The renovations were perfectly tailored for this property. Over the summer there are tables out front and a little slide and bench set up for the youngsters. Its a real family and neighborhood friendly restaurant and pizza place. Many of the churches order their food from here because its so good and the owners are really sweet and caring. They have put their heart and soul into Bacio. The wine was fantastic. The Pizza was fantastic(coming from a New Yorker). And I hear the calzones are special too.

Local pizza done right. I’ve walked by this establishment SOMANY times and pictured me sitting with a close friend in a window above the street delicately nibbling on home made pizza. Well that all came true in just one bight. First, this place is too cute. You walk in and see a small counter to order for an outdoor patio, or venture upstairs to a mismatched dinning room that feels like your own home. The waiters are extremely friendly, and the food is better than you’d expect. Pizzas: Common Good(Large for 2 at $ 16.95): A A powerhouse of vegetable and perfect thin crust, this is the perfect pizza to split between two people with perfect people watching. Dessert: Nutella Cake($ 5): A. I am SOPICKY with chocolate cake, but I can tell you this one was worth every bite. Perfect buttery frosting, dense cake, great flavor and texture. I regret not coming here sooner but am glad I finally got to sit up in the window with a close friend.
