This is definitely not the Bar 7 that I remember. The crowd was not the young professionals I expected. The Kettle One and soda that I ordered did not have Kettle One but some other cheap harsh vodka. Anyway, it was a good while it lasted.

Bar 7 was my go to lounge! Drinks were pretty good, never a long line and wasn’t overly crowded. The upstairs plays good music but the down stair is more reggae music and a lot less people. Apparently the secret got out. Last 3 times I was there the lines were longer, cost more to get in and it was packed. I mean church on Easter Sunday packed! They took forever to open the bottom floor and within seconds that was packed too. It gets hot and crowded like the Sean Paul get busy video but no dancing. People just standing around in Instagram boutique dresses looking cute. Bar 7 is official Club 7. If your looking for a chill lounge this isn’t the spot, but a fun night definitely

Vary fun on Saturdays nights drinks can be expensive but it’s like that downtown dc, anywhere you go vary classy women and sexy women. Right adult vibe and you are partying with real adults.

I came here with three others on the evening of New Years Day. I’ll say this spot was ok. I wasn’t feeling the $ 20 cover charge but I guess that’s what happens in DC. Best part about the place was the DJ later in the night. It’s funny because when a buddy of mine said we were going here, I looked up the Unilocal reviews. Many of the Unilocal reviews were on point. The place is small and narrow. It was jam packed! Extremely packed! And folk were still coming in all the way until the end of the night. But business wise I understand. The crowd was pretty cool and folk were actually dancing most of the time which is a plus for me. I hate the new party scene where no one is dancing but everyone is just standing around looking cute and taking pictures grrrr. Glad this spot wasn’t really like that. Although this spot was packed, there weren’t any incidents. Security guys are standing within the crowds. I didn’t order any food but my group did have shots which were pretty strong. Certainly lots of beautiful women in the place. It was over at like 3am. May check this spot out again at a later date. What I would recommend if you come here is to find a spot and dance there all night. Do NOT try to dance within the crowd because folk are constantly walking through and you’ll get annoyed lol. Music was mainly trap music with some current rap and a little throwback rap music.

Saturday night. $ 20 cover(yuck). Venue. Two levels but the basement doesn’t open up until later on in the night. The main level is super narrow. There’s a small section in the front by the door(but who would want to stand by the door?) then a bar lining a good stretch of the left side of the floor with a narrow pathway leading to the back section. There are tables along the other walls that can be reserved and you can order hookah at the tables and at the bar too. Alicia was the bartender we went to and she was pretty attentive whenever we needed another round and made the drinks decently strong so no complaints. The $ 12 price tag was questionable though. Like, why? Great music. The first DJ was hitting until about 12/1230am. The second guy started off lukewarm playing less known/mainstream songs that somewhat toned down the level of excitement in the place. It got better though. The first DJ eventually made his way to the basement level once it opened up and played Reggae and African hits so it was nice to have a different vibe down there. The crowd. It was a mixed bag. I was fascinated when at one point I spoke to some guy who looked pretty straight faced and observant… he told me he was working… security for one of the patrons. Like what??? And when I leaned in to hear him better I felt his bullet proof vest all over like whoa! I asked and he confirmed. Double whoa. The place wasn’t turned up like that though so I was more surprised that someone felt the need to protect themselves in there. Some professionals, some not quite professionals, some guys with tighter pants on than me, some women with unique outfits on, some with blah outfits on… mixed bag. It was kinda refreshing honestly. Even though my review is all«Yay, I’m a fan!» over EVERYthing… It’s 4 stars in my book and I’d come back. I had fun and it was a different scene.

Unfortunately, one of my favorite happy hour watering holes has finally lost me… I tried very hard to stay loyal, great location and has a history of some great bartenders. When I first started coming here for happy hour, the drink and food specials were the best hands down attracting a very pleasant happy hour crowd… Since then, the drink specials are inconsistent and now, there are no more food specials… Why would I pay $ 10 for itty-bitty chicken tenders when I can go to The Park and get jerk wings and Mac and cheese for less, then add on the $ 2 dessert and I’m in heaven. I’ll tell you, if it wasn’t for a particular bartender, I would’ve switched happy hour spots a long time ago! So long bar 7!

I traveled a few hours to Bar 7 after reserving a table for my boyfriend’s birthday. Once I got there around 11:20pm, I had to stand outside for about 15 mins and wait for a waitress to bring me and my guests in. After entering, she sat us at a table that wasn’t the one I reserved because«my table was not ready yet». Its about 11:50pm at this time. FINALLY, when we are seated at our table, it STILL isn’t ready. When the table was finally set up, I requested that our bottles be brought out. It took about 20 mins to bring the first one out but once I requested the other, it took over an hour. It was about 2:20am when the second bottle was brought out because apparently, they didn’t receive my order of TWO bottles. After arguing for about an hour, and claims to get the approval from the manager, it was brought to my table. Needless to say, my guests and I had to quickly drink the bottle because the lights get turned on at 2:30am and the club closes at 3:00am. The entire experience was completely unprofessional and unpleasant. I have had much better experiences everywhere else and would not return to Bar 7 for a VIP section or maybe not even for a simple happy hour.

There is no one inside the bar, but they won’t let anyone else in. Nothing has been explained. I asked if there was a private party, and they said no, but they still let no one in. Very disappointed.

I’m a regular at Bar 7 and usually come here with my girls on Friday nights for early evening drinks and twerking(even if we are the only ones dancing lol). I love coming here because of the music and the crowd. A lot of professional African-Americans frequent this spot so it’s nice to mingle and get to know people. I always invite friends here because I know that they’ll have a good time. Sooooooo this past weekend, I decided to stay past HH and see what Bar 7 had to offer as far as night life. Unfortunately, I was expecting a vibe similar to that of HH but that was definitely not the case. When I go out, I’m not the type to just stand there sip a drink all night and look pretty; I go to dance and have fun. For the majority of the night, the DJ played trap/hood music which is great to get you hype, but not always the best music to dance to. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Future, however I expected justttt a little more diversity when it came to the music. The men were very content to stay circled among themselves and their bottles of Henny which they clearly spent their rent money on. There was more seating and VIP space then there was dance space. I thought that they would move some seats around after HH but they all stayed in their exact spots. The entire setting just seemed like one big giant VIP area where people were either too cute to dance or were just there to wave their $ 300 bottles of alcohol in the air for all to see. I still love Bar 7 and will continue to frequent it for HH but I don’t think that I will stay past 10pm again. If you love trap music and don’t feel like doing much but bobbing your head, this is the spot for you. If you want to dance, you might want to check out other places instead.

I go to Bar 7 way more than I actually should… but the happy hour drinks are super cheap and the music is pretty good. I believe all happy hour drinks and food are about $ 5-$ 7. The food isn’t that good, so if you aren’t starving eat somewhere else. If you are looking for a cheap happy hour, with a club atmosphere, head on over to Bar 7. Oh! Be careful walking down the steps, they are super narrow and you could fall, especially when drunk and in heels, just a little FYI.

Just finished up a night of twerking here and I must say I was not very impressed! This place is teeeeeennny tiny and extremely narrow! They have a downstairs area that they closed off after 11pm the night I went, leaving everyone to congregate at the upper level. Now, this wouldn’t be a problem if Bar 7 was the size of Park, but Bar 7 is nowhere near that size. Think of a long hallway crowded with bottle poppin’ just-turned 21 year olds, and you have Bar 7. The crowd was decent, but they were way too self-conscious for my liking. You know, the type that wants to dance but is too afraid to look«lame», so they just hold up the wall the entire night. I don’t go out to stand around and look at other people, so I was like hmm… Music was good — Friday night was straight hip-hop which I like and they were rarely any repeats. Getting a drink here is like pulling teeth after 11pm — good luck finding a spot by the bar! All I wanted was some water and it took a long time. Also — Bar 7 only had ONE bathroom open for the night, which I found to be outrageous. Of course, by 11:15, it was disgusting. Someone also needs to tell their staff to hit up Pier 1 — because the«VIP» couches were torn up and worn down. Beware before you pay $ 500+ for a table with holes in your seating. Just sayin’! I got in free so overall I was cool with it, but had I paid I was have been blown. I like places with more than one bathroom available, people ready to dance and ample space. Bar 7 failed in all areas!

I used to come to Bar 7 all the time when I first moved to DC about 4 years ago, but I think I stopped when one of the creepy bouncer dudes gave me a business card with his swingers group on it. Pause. Last night, I gave it another try for a friend’s birthday. It was a Wednesday, so they had great happy hour food and drink specials from 5 – 10 pm and best of all KARAOKE! The place was empty, but we had a blast. I’ll definitely come again on a Wednesday.

I love Bar 7. I celebrated my last two birthdays here. It’s definitely one of my favorite places to go for nightlife in D.C., and I’ve been to many bars and lounges in the district. I love the music and drinks! Both never fail when I go. The only reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it’s small. Other than that, I’ll choose to go to Bar 7 for some hip hop and patron margaritas any day.

It’s DC Carnival week, so I decided to stop by here for the Caribbean happy hour. It’s a nice venue with the lights, but it can get crowded fast, especially around the bar where there isn’t much walking room. The food is delicious, hands down. I had both the cheesesteak bites and the veggie spring rolls and enjoyed both thoroughly. My only complaints are the following: The place was freezing because of the A/C, I wish they turned it down a few degrees. The drinks aren’t as strong as a lot of other places in DC that don’t charge $ 6, and the service was realllllllllllly slow. I still overall had an enjoyable experience. Shout out to that Caribbean music!

I stopped in for happy hour on a Friday with some friends from in and out of town and I have to say that it was one of the more lively happy hour experiences that I’ve had in recent times. It felt more like a day party and everyone was enjoying themselves. Downstairs where we started our evening had Hennessy and Belvedere drinks on special for $ 5 or less I believe(sorry had been sipping from a previous happy hour so some of my memory may not be as vivid). Note that downstairs is a liquor only bar, no beer or wine. Upstairs had the beer bottle specials and maybe there were also some beers on tap as well. The crowd upstairs was very live and many were dancing. The seating(comfortable) fills up quickly. But definitely order your drinks and sneak downstairs to sit and have conversations where it’s a little less crowded if thats what you’re looking for. This place is a really fun after work start to a night out.

This is an awesome hot spot for many reasons. For one, this chic boutique bar is nestled between two metro stops: Chinatown Gallery Place 7th Street and H St. NW exit(2.5 block walk) and The Mt. Vernon Sq. and Convention Center Stop exit near N St. NW.(1 block walk). Secondly, they have two great floors where parties and events can be held. On the level one(the main bar/entrance) there is plenty of seating, a stage and long bar with filled with libations to quench your palette. Bottle service and reservations are easy to for the optimal experience in your own fashion. Next, they can place 2 to 4 bartenders on the bar to make sure you receive quality service. They have amble and friendly security to keep the peace. The Bar 7 Angels(3 – 4 beautiful women) are awesome you have to see them perform karaōke. One of the most intriguing things about Bar 7 is that they support local artists, charities, and the community. You can book your own event, party, reception, fundraiser, or what have you just by talking to management(Easily available/accessible). Another star in my book is that they offer quality and fun spirited karaōke with Dj Ra. Free on Wednesday nights at 7PM and Saturday nights at 10 Pm(double your pleasure). Each night presents new to awesome drink specials and sometimes even open bar on select liquors. You have to see it to believe it.

Let’s see, if you want to listen to today’s top urban radio hits then, this is the spot to be!!! It’s again the typical urban nightlife after 9pm or club time, with ball to you fall overpriced bottles and liquor prices. It’s a «Bar”(Bar 7) so of course they have the happy hours thing going. Here’s what you need to understand; ITS A BARTHATDOUBLESAS A CLUBSO… Please don’t expect it to be spacious when the crowd comes because it won’t get any bigger, so set your expectations low!!! As always the women come deep and party with themselves and the guys are all«rich» industry moguls who want the«baddest bitches» in the club so it gets aggressive. 2 levels in which the upstairs doesn’t have a «true» dance floor, so find a corner and dance, and send a few from the crew to get drinks because once you leave, your spots are taken, lower level is smaller but has a dance floor. So if you in town and are bar hopping this spots good enough to stop through but some advice if you looking for women there, there’s a 10 to 1 ration men to women. So desperate women this is your sword spot fellas look at the pretty view, drink, dance, then move on to the next spot

Love this place! They have a great happy hour to include decent food and drink prices. They have a DJ that spins based on the age of the crowd. I came here based on a co-worker’s recommendation for a work /networking happy hour. This place turned even the most uptight folks into more relaxed and laid back people lol Did I mention that the service is impeccable! The manager(Kris) ensured that we were well taken care of. He personally came by and asked us if we were ok and if there was anything he could do to make our time more memorable. That rarely happens! He’s awesome! They have table service and a full bar and excellent bartenders! They have a drink called the Cinnamon Margarita that is DELISH! Gotta try this spot #fav

I hate long narrow club like a damn hallway and that’s exactly what you walk into. There was a downstairs but as soon as I seen people go down there they came back up! My boyfriends brother thru a party for his bday and all his guests couldn’t even fit on the stage. I don’t like the venue but that doesn’t mean there arnt any pros! The staff is friendly, bartenders on point. Security wasn’t all in «bully/I run this ishh» mode and were actually very helpful. The DJ was on point but wouldn’t play my damn requests. It takes them over a week to post the pics the photographer takes. In the beginning it was fun but by 1 it was too packed for that little bit of space. Overall the party’s what you make it so make sure you bring a fun crowd!

Parking is a complete nightmare but then again I guess this is to be expected since Bar 7 is located across from the Washington Convention Center; metro if possible. Not too sure if this is a DC thing, but the bartender took AND kept my ID to start a tab. I found it kinda weird but I rolled with it. The happy hour specials are well priced. Top shelf liquor was $ 4 and most appetizers were $ 5. I had the fried shrimp and sweet potato fries. Yummy! The shrimp was not fried too hard and the fries were baked just right. I would have never thought to combine shrimp with sweet potatoes but when you are hungry, the combination works! On this particular night, the band, Black Alley was performing. The stiff, professional happy hour crowd turned into more of a cool, calm, local vibe and the atmosphere was transformed into a real party-like atmosphere. Black Alley definitely has a new fan in me. So why the low reviews? The service. Simply put. I have every intention of reaching out to management as they have very serious issues that need to be addressed. For instance, Cool points was immediately lost when I saw all the bartenders tending to their personal cell phones while working. This is tacky on so many levels. In addition, when it was time for me to close out my tab, I had to literally yell at the top of my lungs to get the bartender’s attention because she was too engrossed in the game, Candy Crush. The fact that she took me for a lady to a gangsta in 3.2 seconds knocks off a couple of stars. I have no desire to return here anytime soon, but I will stalk Black Alley…
