I loved the music performances here at night. My only issue was that they didn’t have very many«mock“tails. The bartender made something up for my on the fly though so that worked.

Cool and bluesy boozy. Great musicians. I was not a fan of the baked brie everyone loves, but then don’t listen to me, I am impossible and expect the best on my plate. Older mellow crowd, mellow atmosphere maybe good for an early sleepy date or to hang with a few friends and listen to music. only one staff bartender on a sat night which was odd. I give it 3.4 stars.

Sorry to see this place go. My boyfriend and I had our first date here two years ago. We went back last night for a goodbye-to-Blackfox drink and the bartender surprised us with champagne after we told him why we were there. Very sweet. It’s absence will leave a void in Dupont — not many places to go that are chill, low-key and affordable.

Great music, drinks, and food. I’ll be completely honest — I did not expect a place like this so close to home. It’s not one of those stuffy uptight lounges frequented by lawyers and lobbyists. But neither is it a frat-type dive bars? Black Fox Lounge managed to take the best elements from various bars to form a great venue with live music, perfect for a night out with friends.

We’ve only been here twice, but it’s very nice. The main attraction is the jazz and other types of music, live and otherwise. We got here today early for dinner and a couple of drinks. We had to use up a voucher and didn’t really feel like waiting for the 9 o’clock show. The Grilled Cheese was good with cheddar and mozzarella, bacon and tomato. Peter had a 50⁄50(half ground beef, half ground bacon) burger. He said it was good … different. Well be back another night for a show.

The Black Fox is a pretty classy establishment. My friend and I were drawn to it because of the live jazz that was going on inside. We wanted to grab a drink and catch up, so we certainly didn’t want to walk into a bar that was blasting loud party music. Inside is fairly small, but there were still a couple of empty two-seater tables, so we snagged one of them and went up to the bar to order our drinks. I got my standard Midori sour, which was good. However, the prices for the drinks were a bit steep. I really liked be fact that we didn’t need to scream to each other to communicate, especially considering the live music and large group of people sitting next to us. It felt like a hole in the wall(in a good way), and I plan on checking it out again next time I’m in Dupont!

This place was okay. The bartender was nice, the musician was nice, but this place is not that memorable. I recommend you come here, but don’t expect anything too great or terrible, its just okay; serves its purpose. I had the apple-ginger martini, taste good. I also tried their special ginger drink in their copper cup; the copper cup intrigued me and I love ginger; it was okay but crazy strong, I had to add in triple sec.

Black Fox, nice to meet you! I am Kimberly and you will most likely be seeing a lot of me soon. Besides their live jazz acts the bartenders have are VERY generous pour-ers! I stopped by last night for a Filipino Young Professionals Meetup and it was the perfect spot for our group of 15 people. Not quite dive bar and not quite cocktail lounge, it had an easy going atmosphere that would please beer drinkers and handcrafted cocktail lovers a like. I opted for the happy hour Prosecco($ 7) but their signature drinks were definitely appealing. I’ll be back this summer to sample their Cucumber Bath, made with Hendrick’s Gin, Pimm’s and Tonic. A lot of yummy looking things were coming out of the kitchen but because I gave fried food for Lent I had to pass(THREEMOREDAYS). Thank you Black Fox Lounge for keeping my champagne glass full and my company fabulous.

I am in DC for a week and have been here 2 nights in a row for a night cap… Both nights I have met some great locals and have witnessed some great local talented musicians… I am staying 2 blocks from here so far the plan is to stop in each night for a night cap… This is the classic local corner bar… I did not realized until reading the reviews that there is more than one level… I plan to explore the bar more while here… The jazz that I saw tonight was class act…

This place was… interesting We only stayed up stairs for a drink, but there were a lot of people going in out for the music down stairs. The drink I had was okay, a little too strong. The staff was not the greatest. never really checked on us, we had to go ask for our bill This place was pretty dead on a Saturday when all the other bars were packed, we should have known

My friends loved this place. Everything we ordered, they enjoyed. They went on and on about the flavor and how mcuh they loved it. I, on the other hand, did not care for this place very much. The service was great. Our waiter was named Roberto. I would recommend you try it for yourself. You may like it. I just wasn;t impressed. No real complaints. I just didn’t care for the food.

Very cool lounge to grab a drink. I work in Dupont so I appreciate the proximity to the office and delicious baked brie. Oh, so delicious. I went on a Thursday night, or maybe a Wednesday night. But, it was very empty considering it was prime happy hour time. But being able to be comfortable AND sit at a bar is great!

I went to DC for the first time over New Year’s Eve weekend, and on my last night some of my friends brought me here. And I really have to say — this place was REALLY the cherry on top of the cake that was my weekend at DC. We walked in right as the jazz band was wrapping up and taking a break. Our waiter told us that there was also live music in the downstairs section and encouraged us to check it out. Right as we were filing down the staircase, I heard this amazing voice hit this high note PERFECTLY. It was almost unreal! Apparently a troupe of actors who were performing in Billy Elliot decided to stop by and sing a variety of oldies, Christmas songs, and even praise music. My friends and I enjoyed this amazing live music over a bottle of prosecco and the baked brie appetizer, which were both absolutely lovely. I would recommend eating the cheese quickly, though! I was so entranced by the music that the cheese went cold and rubbery and was hard to spread onto the crostinis. After the music was over, we headed back upstairs and ended up bumping into some strangers at the bar. They were both friendly, funny, and drunk, and we ended up just talking about all sorts of things — pets, cities, alcohol, hair — for the rest of the night. Thanks for an amazing night at the end of an amazing trip. I am DEFINITELY coming back the next time I’m in town!

In the DC area for a few nights and was looking for some live jazz music. When my husband and I walked in the place is small with two male jazz performers. The environment was exactly what we were looking for. Not very busy considering it was a Monday night, but the music was quite enjoyable. The bar tender served our drinks, but never refilled our water, I had to ask for a refill. We ordered a dinner to split since we figured it would be large enough considering the price. After waiting 35 minutes for the chicken and rice dish, we were very disappointed in the size of the meal considering the preparation time. There was maybe enough chicken to make up two chicken tenders or to fill half the size of your palm. The rice was probably a cup full. It was delicious but for the amount of money and wait time, totally not worth it. I saw the reviews for the macaroni and cheese and was tempted to try it, but considering we waited so long and I was still hungry, we decided to go some place else. The bartender seemed more occupied with rearranging the items in his bar than checking on us or our drinks. Not good service at all and would not go back for a dinner if I was in the area. They did have some music downstairs, but we did not check it out. In my opinion this could be a really neat place to hang out and enjoy the music, if the service, both food and drink, were better handled. Also, there were only two other singles in the bar that ordered a meal, so that gives you an idea of 4 customers. The music was the best part of the night.
