The haircut was good, and the experience, relaxing. I certainly intend to go back. The stylists were also friendly and professional and gave me good advice on coloring and upkeep.

I «found» this place by surfing the interweb for a reasonably-​priced salon to get a hair cut in the Silver Spring/​Petworth/​Columbia Heights area. Solid reviews led me to Bravo, and I was indeed satisfied with my peers’ recommendation. The salon was clean and stylish, Arman was super-​nice and gave me a grade-​A haircut, but the real selling point for me was their 3, 6, and 12 month membership plans. One low price for unlimited haircuts during the term you choose– brilliant! Ain’t no young professional in this city got the money to be dropping $ 25 dollars every 2 – 3 weeks on a haircut. A great cut with cutting-​edge marketing led me to give this place 5 stars. BRAVO!

Happy to make this my regular salon. For a great price, you get great customer service and a great haircut (including shampoo/​condition). Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a reasonably priced, great haircut haircut. Lisa cut my hair tonight. :)

I have been getting my haircut at Bravo for a few months now and have had a great experience. The Salon was even open during the recent blizzard! Arman, the owner, has a great work ethic and chatting with him while he cuts your hair is as close to a zen experience as you can find in Columbia Heights.

Lisa does a fabulous blow out. She uses multiple round brushes and makes me feel like a movie star every time. Bonus for the mini snickers and butterfingers bars they always keep in the waiting area

Having a great salon a block from home can’t get much better. Arman has always done a superb job with my hair and there is always great conversation. Definitely recommend Bravo Salon and I will be back for sure.

I always read other Unilocalers’ comments on Unilocal but never wrote it myself. Anyway, Bravo is the first place that make me feel like doing it for them. This place is very small compared to a salon I used to go, it likes what you see in the picture is all they are. But the cute courtesy thing is they have some wines, drinks and chocolate corner for customers which I never got that offer from a big salon.
Actually, I wouldn’t get a haircut if my hair was not ruined by my husband! I had long hair for very long time and last week I just feel like cutting it. So I cut it in my bathroom myself. He saw it and thought it was fun. So, I let him do it, layering, cutting, slicing. Then Bam! it is like Mullet haircut.
Well, I will start with making an appointment at Bravo, it’s very easy, I made it a day before I went in. I mentioned over the phone that I want to use an expired Groupon deal and No problem! They are a couple customers when I got in around 10:30. At first, I requested Henry based on his reputation people mentioned on Unilocal but turns out that he already quitted. So, Arman an owner and also a stylist, was the one who did my hair. He did everything from washing my hair through cutting it. (I think that’s because it’s still early and also weekday, so he ran the place all by himself.) He’s very nice and skilled.(Since he can fix my homemade haircut and make it flattering) I really like my new short hair. It’s so modest but still girl look. Actually, I mentioned to him before that I wanted the cheapest haircut, no blow-​dry, no styling, That’s because I was just going straight home and didn’t want to pay more. So, my styled haircut included hair wash shampoo&conditioning, and hair cut. However, Arman did not let me walk out in soaking wet head, he also blowed dry my hair for a bit. The price was $ 25 only. I don’t think there are anywhere cheaper in DC for the same service I got here. I saw the customer before me paid him the same price as me too even though her hair is mid-​length. So, for me it just like I traded my expired groupon with the service for free. This place didn’t try to charge more money like some place that always does when I use groupon. They also did not make me feel cheap when I told them I would use Groupon.(Even though I’m greedy lol) Well, overall I gave Bravo and Arman 5 stars for a great experience I had! Definitely going back!

I have a great haircut and blowdry. It is my second time there and Lisa did a great gob. She help me with the haircut that would be nice for the shape of my face.
Very professional and the atmosphere was super nice. Definitely I’ll come back !

I had a great experience a couple months ago getting a haircut from Lisa. She and the whole team were super nice and the haircut was good!

So unprofessional. I was already suspect when I called to schedule an appointment and they picked up and said they would call me back and never did, about a month later I called to schedule an appointment with a groupon. I got to my appointment at 2:00 pm and it was completely empty. He said the appointment was for 1:00 pm. That was not true. Anyway, I sat in the chair and he was like so what do you want? He proceeded to say fine it will be an extra 25 dollars because the groupon clearly states it’s for short hair. I said okay no problem. I just had a bad feeling after be badgered me about being late. I said I would like to leave but be already redeemed my voucher! He starts arguing with me telling me just sit down and we will get started. I said how long do you have? He said thirty minutes. To do a full color, wash, and blow dry on long hair? No way!
I am so disappointed, I was excited because it got good reviews. I would not come back at all.

I got a haircut with Lisa and she did a fantastic job. I have short straight hair and asked for shorter messy layered hair. she delivered exactly what I asked for! she spent almost an hour on my hair, which shows how diligent and thorough she is. totally recommend Lisa!

Why is there not a negative star button? I made a Unilocal account just to give this review. Sure, I’ve had some not so stellar experiences, but nothing has been worse than this place.
Seriously– if you care at ALL about how you hair looks, do NOT COME HERE. I called to make a late night appt. and the owner told me he could definitely fit me in, so come right in.
When I arrived, I was shampooed and then escorted to Lisa, who was already working on another client. The owner and the other man who shampooed me finished up with a client and sat down (I assumed on break or waiting for another appointment). A few walk-​ins came and the snipping began, very rushed.
I had very long, easy, straight Asian hair. I’ve always gotten compliments on my hair because it is extremely hard to fuck it up. The texture and color are very forgiving. Well lo and behold, this place takes the crown.
Lisa proceeds to cut my hair without parting it first. I have to stop her and give her my natural part. She tells me i need bangs, which I insist I don’t want, just a cut with the longest layer to start at the chin. I’m not sure if she doesn’t understand or just didn’t care– she seemed nice but was an awful, awful stylist. She uses a pair of thick, blunt scissors, as if my hair is construction paper. I should’ve asked her to stop right then– but for some reason, I didn’t.
The result? Choppy, uneven, horribly shaped layers that look like a dog ripped out my hair in three sharp, straight bites. I was in tears — I have NEVER cried over a haircut in 26 years. The bangs she made looked ridiculous.
I asked to talk to the owner, who had the audacity to say «Oh well. Miscommunication. Just let it grow out,» he shrugged and smiled.
Are you kidding me??? He didn’t even try to look at it or sympathize. Furthermore, he followed up– «So now you will pay for her services?»
I would pay ten times the asking price to NEVER COME TO PLACE AGAIN.
Like i said before, these reviews take time to write and I’m more of a Unilocal consumer than contributor. But this was truly a terrible, terrible experience and deserves a review to warn others.
I would never recommend this place to someone I like– it is awful and the owner was so inconsiderate. I am now looking for a place to help my fix this mess ASAP.

Uh… I don’t really know what just happened. As you can see from the previous reviews, I’ve been coming here for almost two years. I get the same thing every time — a trim and a blowout. That’s basically the only thing you get when your hair is as long as mine. Honestly, the price of the cut and style has varied between $ 50 and $ 60. Last time it was $ 50. When I make the appointment, I make it the same way, «I’d like a cut and blow dry/​style on very long hair.»
When I sat in the chair today Arman says, «just a cut?» And I say, «A cut and a blowdry/​style.»
His eyes get big and he says, «That’s going to be VERY expensive.»
I respond by saying, «No, every time I come in it’s $ 50 or $ 60.»
He tells me that’s not true and explains that I must never have had him. Um, nope. I’ve definitely had him. I’ve had other stylists too, but I’ve most certainly had him. In fact, I named the stylists I had and the number of times I’ve had them. He only responded with «no,» and continued to tell me it was going to be «very, very» expensive.
I then said, «Well, I guess I’ll just leave.»
His response was simply, «sorry.»
So I left. Not only have I been here enough times to be remembered, but I’m up front on the phone about the length of my hair. If there’s a price change, tell me. If the only available stylist is significantly more expensive than the others, tell me. I didn’t request Arman. The entire reason I scheduled this appointment is because I have an event tomorrow and I wanted my hair to look nice. I guess a bun it is.

Excellent service. Arman cut my hair, and he was one of the most professional, skilled, and sincere hair dressers I have had the pleasure of encountering. I tend to put faith in the person who is cutting my hair to make me look good rather than give extensive instructions, and Arman did a marvelous job with very little direction from me. I felt extremely well-​cared for. He was also incredibly polite and made me feel at ease.
The atmosphere was also very soothing and professional. I’ve had extensive experience with hair salons, as I’ve moved around quite a bit, but I will definitely be going back to Bravo! for my next hair cut.

Henry did a great job with my hair, again, and he somehow managed to wash, cut, and style it in less than 40 minutes! That’s my kind of place. FWIW, I have straight hair that’s pretty easy to manage. Henry is very attentive listening to what you want, although a little hard to understand. I had him trim off several months’ worth of dead ends, add layers to frame my face, and fix up my long layers everywhere else. I had a livingsocial deal for $ 30 — Win! — and made the appointment for a Monday evening just one day before.
The one thing I think Bravo can do to improve is to play some music, or something! They lack a little ambiance. When I came in, the very nice owner (Arman?) and Henry were both sitting there quiet. They were very welcoming but the silence is kind of eery, to me!

I came here for a Groupon. Would I come again? HELL NO.
From start to finish, this was a pretty bad experience. Let me break it down for you:
My appointment was at 5:45 pm. I arrived 5 minutes late at 5:50 pm (which is 100% my bad) and rushed in to apologize… only to see that the salon was completely empty. I was greeted by a hairdresser that didn’t really speak English and kind of muttered under her breath.
I sat down in the chair and showed her pictures of what kind of cut I wanted. I am Asian and have short hair and wanted to shave the sides of my head. However, if you don’t cut Asian hair right, then it will stick straight out when it’s cut short. My last haircutter (who is in Minneapolis and I can no longer go to) cut it beautifully and my hair did not stick out. So I knew it was possible. I asked my hairdresser if she knew how to do it. She muttered no and immediately made moves to start cutting my hair. Whoa! Wait! I asked if she could ask the owner if he knew how to do it. Yes, it was a diva moment. But this is my hair!
The owner came out and said he didn’t know how to do it. And that I should just either suck it up, make the hair not stick out with gel, and just trust the hairdresser. After a couple minutes I agreed and said let’s do it.
Then my hairdresser started to buzz my hair without getting it wet or shampooing it first. I was really alarmed by this since I’ve never had a haircut without getting my hair wet first so I stopped her and asked her about it. To which the owner said:
YOU DON’T GO TO THE DENTIST AND TELL THE DENTIST WHAT TO DO, SO DON’T TELL MY HAIRDRESSER WHAT TO DO. SHE WILL DO WHAT SHE’S TRAINED TO DO”.
I really should have left then. But I was desperate for a haircut and stayed.
Then at 6 pm, another girl walked in and said her appt was at 6. The owner then turned to me and said, Well this is taking longer than I thought. I had scheduled this other girl’s hair to be cut at 6 since you were at 5:45.
EXCUSE ME. NO ONE CAN GET THEIR HAIR CUT IN 15 MINUTES.
I proceeded to get my haircut in an extremely rushed 20 minute hair cut. The result? A patchy, uneven buzz on one side of my head. A hasty blow dry. And a push out the chair.
DON’T GO TO THIS PLACE. SERIOUSLY. The staff are rude. The service is terrible. Do yourself a favor. Spend a couple of bucks and actually have a good haircutting experience.

UPDATE!
Vladimir left some time ago and I have been back 4 – 5 times since and had my hair cut by the owner Arman. That man knows hair and it is clear that he loves what he does! He’s very thorough and creative and his personality makes the experience even better than a super haircut. I honestly look forward to my next haircut!

Salon Review: Bravo Salon is on a total random block on CoHe, next to some delicious food joints! The interior is nice, not luxe, but a step above supercuts/​haircuttery. There was random chocolates and booze everywhere, but no big deal haha.
Haircut by Henry: Henry was nice, and gave me a good haircut. There was a tinnnyyy language barrier, but it was fine. He sorta just gets down to business. I wish he would have asked me how i wanted my ‘style’ (aka blowout). He did this weird/​cool method of wrapping my hair in a bunch of hairbrushes, had never seen it. It turned out nice, but with a little more volume than i would have liked (love me a traditional straight blow out). Was happy with Henry and would definitely go back to him.

Ehhh… my haircut was okay, but definitely not anything memorable or out of the ordinary. My hair ended up shorter than I had asked for and my layers were not noticeable.
My Livingsocial deal was for «Shampoo, Conditioning Treatment, Haircut, and Styling.» However, Henry spent no more than 5 minutes washing my hair and there was no conditioning treatment. I look forward most to the head massage that is usually included in shampoos, but none here! Bummer! Although there was not another soul in the salon, it seemed like Henry was rushing a bit and not being very meticulous with the cut. He didn’t ask how I wanted my hair styled, but just took it upon himself to simply blow dry. It took only 30 minutes from start to finish, which makes me feel like not much attention and care was given to the cut. The normal price for this cut is $ 50. Thank goodness I had my Livingsocial deal, because I would not have been a happy camper paying full price for a less than mediocre cut. Henry was very nice, but unfortunately, the cut just didn’t do it for me.
