Quality of product is amazingly fresh cause they would cut in front of you for Roast beef and Turkey also other meats, amd vegetable are even I can compare with other cafes. They make that you like your salad or sandwich and their services are an excellent! My most favorite lunching place!!!

Came here for a quick to go breakfast. Ordered an everything bagel with egg, sausage, and cheese and an iced mocha. Both were good. No complaints. Nothing special either. Might be a bit hard to find so just ask the security guard for directions. Café is pretty big so seating is available.

An excellent bagel with lox. Under $ 8 for the bagel and a bottle of water. Fresh bagel with the right consistency and a fair amount of lox.

THISISTHESPOT!!! I come here 3 times a weak, sometimes more. Fresh carved meat, fresh toppings, all for about $ 7.50. I may even name my future son Phillip after this sandwich kingdom!

Hands down my favorite iced mocha in DC(at least from the ones I’ve tried). They use actual chocolate bits all the while the drink is not too sweet/sugary. They also use real scallions in their scallion cream cheese. I went here all the time when I worked right by it. I love their mocha so much that sometimes, I walk 20 minutes out of my way to work, just to get a sip of that goodness. The staff is friendly and the store is clean.

I eat sandwiches for lunch every day and have for a loooong time. New job, new places to eat. In my new search for a to go spot close to work I stopped in here for a quick lunch and was seriously impressed. All kind of fresh breads and rolls to choose from. Six meats on the carving station. All the ingredients you could need for toppings. I had Cuban roast pork on a baguette– oh my. As another reviewer pointed out– this may not be a good coffee shop, but as far as I am concerned, they can rock a sandwich!

Great sandwiches made to order, and quickly. It’s a no-frills quiet spot for lunch during work.

A decent place. Nothing really to brag about, but not so bad at the same time. The sandwiches are good. However, I felt this place was a bit expensive overall. It’s kind of a high end breakfast/lunch place, so I understand why it is expensive. The sandwiches are also freshly served. So no complains there. I just don’t feel like spending 6 bucks on a breakfast everyday. Verdict: Give the sandwiches a try, why not?

Service is so slow behind the counter. They seem to be able to handle only one order at a time. Sometimes there are more staff behind the counter tripping over one another than in line, and yet they still take forever. Not very friendly, either.

Great food and it’s fast. Went there during the lunch rush and was in and out. Meat is carved I fronted you and made while you wait. Try their breakfast as well.

Uppity, majorly overpriced and super rude establishment. Their food is at best mediocre and a sandwich costs at least $ 9. They sometimes overcharge me if I’m not paying attention and make a scene if I try to correct them.

So simple, but so good. Café Phillips is pretty much a «create your own» sandwich deli. They offer high-quality meat options of roast beef, turkey, pork, chicken, and probably some others that I haven’t noticed before. If you work downtown and enjoy a simple, no frills sandwich, then Café Phillips is the perfect lunch stop. I always get a roast beef sandwich with bacon and cheddar cheese. Like I said, this is a simple place that caters to the 9 – 5 crowd. They do have plenty of toppings that you can add to your sandwich but don’t expect to order an original house sandwich a la Sundevitch or even a place like Taylor. This place also gets the small things right. Their bottled sodas are always ice cold and they carry Cherry Coke Zero(a necessity in the middle of any workday), which is hard to come by at other downtown sandwich shops. While the ingredients in their sandwiches are of very high quality, it is a bit pricey. If you’re getting a soda and a sandwich, it can be hard to keep the total cost around $ 10(they charge extra for add-ons like bacon). Add chips or a cookie into the mix and you’re easily around $ 15.

I went there for breakfast with two friends. At the sandwich section, the lady working there was very ignorant. We ordered bagel and she said no bagels. Then we asked what they can serve and she replied reluctantly with a «lunch menu»! After a few seconds, I ordered a sandwich. She asked me «mayo» I said no thanks but she still put mayo on the bread anyway. After I pointing out, she complaint why didn’t I tell her earlier! But I did say NO Thanks! I asked her if I can have my sandwich toasted, she said too late now. Then it came to the coffee. I order a medium soy caramel latte, but I got a small sized instead. I showed the«barista» my receipt, she made me a medium one. But she poured the coffee from old cup into a new cup and added some more soy milk. Then she used the steam bar to «heat» the coffee. The whole soy milk was completely burnt(extremely hot) and not edible! It was actually full of chunks! I don’t understand whether the«barista» here is properly trained to make coffee! I ended up ordering another coffee from a coffee shop nearby! It was terrible experience and we definitely would NOT come to this place again!

I’ve been working downtown near McPherson Square for about 2 months and walk by this place every morning and never thought to go inside. Then one day my colleague was eating a lox bagel with all the fixings(capers, onion, tomato, cream cheese) and it looked delicious. I love them and have not found a place in DC(even after 8 years here), that makes them really well. So of course when I heard it was from Café Phillips, I immediately had to head over for breakfast. When you walk in, it’s your typical fast deli, no frills, but clean, with plenty of seating. I walked up the counter and ordered, food was ready within 3 minutes. I also saw them making breakfast sandwiches, actually frying up the eggs right there behind the counter, nothing premade– they were HUGE and looked great, so I will definitely be back to try those in the near future. Anyway, after getting my bagel I walk up to the drink counter, order a chai latte with a shot of espresso– equally as delicious, not too sweet, creamy, spicy, awesome, better than the one at Starbucks. I walked away spending less than $ 10. So finally, I get to my office and sit down with the bagel. It was exactly the way I like my lox bagels, good ratio of all the ingredients, not too much cream cheese, not too much or too little lox, nice sprinkling of capers and onion, fresh slice of tomato. no doubt, I am ecstatic that I have discovered this place and it will become my go to breakfast place when I’m in the office

My office just moved into the neighborhood and I was thoroughly impressed. I ordered a chicken sandwich and the quality of both the meat and bread was unsurpassed and belied its $ 7 price tag! I will be coming back. I only wish it had seating available.

This place is amazing. Their bagels are great. My favorite is a toasted blueberry bagel with low fat cream cheese. It’s $ 2.19 with tax. For lunch, I kid you not, they literally carve the meat in front of you. Pick your bread and the rest of your toppings and you have a delicious sandwich for about $ 8. I don’t love their lattes/cappuccinos(although they are strong) but they aren’t losing any points because they deserve a bonus point for the tender, freshly cooked and carved meat.

Café Phillips has awesome lunch offerings with tons of variety for decent prices. It’s also near many work offices, so it’s quite packed during lunch. A coworker and I visited the place recently and she got a sandwich and I got the chicken caesar salad. It was a very filling portion and I really enjoyed it. I highly recommend Café Phillips. It’s a great lunch spot and there is actually plenty of seating in there, so finding a table is not out of the realm of possibility even on a crowded day.

Hands down one of the best places imaginable for lunch! I go here every weekday. I run about ¾ of a mile from my office and as I write this my mouth is salivating. I mix it up every day except I usually take my sandwiches on french baguette. This is the Upscale Chiptole version of an American mom and pop deli, I compare this deli to the Wegman grocery store of delis. Every item there is extremely fresh, savory, and simply perfect. There are thousands of combinations you can fix your sandwich. Try the Chipotle Mayo, Banana Peppers, Hot Pepper paste to your sandwich… just perfect. I can’t wait to eat. And NO, I’m not getting paid for this post. PS They have the quickest service of any«Great food fast» place out there, they’re on point every day… they must have all gone to Café Phillips Boot Camp, they must have.

I’ve been a regular for two years, but this place is now dead to me. I just got a garden salad with turkey breast, and halfway through eating it I noticed some grittiness. I kept eating and when I was ¾ of the way through, I found a couple of pieces of lettuce that had some brown splotches. I assumed it was just some dead lettuce and moved it over to eat the rest of the salad. Then I realized that they weren’t dead patches– it was caked-on dirt! It was so disgusting. And I’m not talking a little bit of dirt that romaine lettuce naturally has. It wasn’t the kind of dirt that you just rinse off before eating– this was like mud off the bottom of a pair of boots. I threw the salad away and am now feeling sick to my stomach. I really liked this place, but now there’s no way I could recommend it to anyone and I definitely will not be returning.

Was in the neighborhood and stopped in here for a quick lunch based on Unilocal reviews. It was okay. Nothing to rave about or go out of my way to go back to. I had a beef brisket sandwich on a hoagie roll. Service was fast and friendly. Prices were reasonable.
