Absolutely love their brunch! It’s a bit on the pricey side, but the food is consistently excellent, service is good, and the bottomless mimosas keep coming. The downstairs of the restaurant is very charming, but quite small to accommodate larger groups. Would highly recommend it for a relaxing brunch in the area.

The food is bland! The«gentleman» at the hostess station was rude! Avoid at all costs.

For a small place attention to detail should be key. A warm welcome at the door by the hostess, the waiter/waitress giving you their name. And for a nice place, No jeans please. Ambiance was off, but thankfully no loud music. I liked my dish of quinoa cakes but wouldn’t return to have again. My SO chose the pasta and missing lamb(he found a few crumbs of it), I tasted a itsy bit and found it greasy and unappealing. We ventured here due to the open table 1,000 points, oh well.

We arrived, a group of six, very excited to try brunch here. Our reservation was at 11, which was opening time. Among a few other tables of people, we waited outside of a locked door until about 11:05, at which time we were let inside unapologetically, and reminded abruptly only that the table would be needed again in two hours time(this was already conveyed when the reservation was made). Already things were off to a rocky start. Things unfortunately never really improved with both service or the quality of our food. Our server was beyond hung-over, still wearing club stamps on the back of his hand and sweating profusely. Look, I was once a 20-something who worked in the industry. I know what that can be like. But our server was not pulling it off. Instead we wondered about how clean his hands were, whether he was dripping sweat into our food, and where the hell was he?! He would disappear for long stretches of time, especially when it came time to pay the bill. On to the food. Price point was way higher than the quality of the food. Way off point, all around. The«doughnuts» were bland, the meals small and not creative. All around, our group(who all go out to dine regularly) were scratching our heads as to why this place is getting good reviews.

Probably the worse experience we’ve had a restaurant in a long time. First, the food was all mediocre. But the icing on the cake was the owner coming to our table(after a long wait) telling us «I don’t want to serve you another bottle of wine. I worry about losing my liquor license so we are not going to serve you another bottle of wine». We were all incredulous. He went on and on. We told him that we had Ubured to the restaurant and were using Über to go home. That didn’t stop him from droning on about his liquor license. I want to say none of us were loud or drunk. We asked for the check and were willing to leave without dessert that was to be included with our 3 course dinner. Instead of the check arriving as we were ready to leave at this point the bottle of wine arrived. We all declined the dessert and left. Will never go back. If we had appeared to be inebriated, loud, or obnoxious I would understand. He was the only person that was obnoxious. Good luck with your restaurant lasting another year.

I want to like DC Harvest. I love the idea of a local and organic restaurant, and I am willing to pay a premium for one that also executes the food well. Unfortunately, I found DC Harvest mediocre and not worth the price. A friend and I came for brunch. We did not have the bottomless mimosas, although a little booze may have improved our experience. Coffee is $ 5 and they serve a dark roast from Chesapeake Bay Roasting Co. We both ordered egg scrambles($ 17-$ 18), which come with sweet potato hash and a green salad. The green salad was well dressed, and we both deemed our egg scrambles«fine,» but not amazing. The eggs seemed somewhat underseasoned, though the server did offer salt and pepper. The sweet potato hash was a low point for me. There was no browning and none of the little crispy bits that make breakfast potatoes delicious. Moreover, mine was mostly room temperature and unevenly heated, perhaps microwaved. I prefer when restaurants at least maintain the illusion that food was prepared fresh for me. There was similarly nothing amazing or awful about the service. Upon arrival, the host stand was surrounded by staff but the host was off doing something else, and I waited a few minutes for him to return. Once seated, our server did try to upsell us on appetizers, drinks, and dessert, but wasn’t too pushy. She was friendly and kept our coffee cups full. We were seated in the downstairs dining room, which seemed a bit crowded and hectic. The crowding was exacerbated by traffic flow problems. The hostess stand is on the far side of the bar as you enter, which creates a bottleneck for staff and customers alike. A supply delivery rolled through the dining room while we dined, necessitating scooting chairs around to make way for the hand cart. For a $ 30 brunch(per person, including tax and tip), DC Harvest felt overpriced and unremarkable. I’ll try somewhere else the next time.

3.5÷5 stars for a Sunday dinner(I voted 4; my date voted 3 so we met in the middle) Pros — — Quiet on a Sunday night — In the heart of H Street — Good meal w/appropriate portions — Offers a lot of discounts both online and weekly specials(we had the Travelzoo voucher for 2 cocktails, an app, 2 entrees & a dessert for $ 59) Food — 1. Quinoa crusted shrimp. Good, not super flavorful & disliked the kimchi. 2. Scallops w/veggies. Excellent! Fresh & loved the large side of mushrooms, asparagus & spinach(?) 3. Steak w/creamed spinach. Great steak cooked to order(medium rare which most restaurants mess up). Creamed spinach could be skipped. 4. Side of potatoes. Excellent & huge serving size for only $ 5. 5. S’mores dipping pot dessert. Excellent! My boyfriend couldn’t stop raving about this & crowned it his«favorite dessert ever.» Next time we’ll order one each. I would’ve preferred good olé’ fashion bread pre-dinner but I just don’t get the pickled veggie trend. Cocktails — both solid drinks & not too sweet. 1. Betty White — light, refreshing drink 2. Tuscarora Daquiri — would’ve liked a slightly larger serving for $ 13 but the rum soaked pineapple garnish was a nice touch Next time I come it’ll be for the well-reviewed brunch!

Called the morning of mother’s day and there was still reservations left. We showed up at soon as they opened at 11am. Their inside decorations are very hip. We sat on the first floor towards the back. The lighting back there is very strange. It’s not dark but the natural light from the front windows don’t quite teach so it’s dim even with the lights on. We ordered the chocolate chip and banana pancakes and the old bay fried turkey sandwich. I must say that I was really impressed with the food. The pancakes weren’t much to look at but the flavors were yummy and you didn’t need syrup either! My favorite was the fried turkey sandwich. It had a slight horseradish taste to the crust but the turkey was juicy, flavorful, and delicious. I highly recommend trying it out! I was going to only way half but ended up eating all of it and wanting more. If you are looking for bottomless mimosas they offer that here too. Our waitress was kind enough to let us order one glass and if we drank more, switch to bottomless.

Stumbled on this place as we just moved to the area and it’s easily a new favorite. Incredible food and service! My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and ordered the quinoa crusted shrimp and two orders of scallops. The scallops/veggies were absolutely delicious, we were«mmm-ing» the whole time. Although a little bit buttery towards the end, and it could have definitely used a side of bread to help soak it up in between bites. After we finished, I saw the waitress give a small basket of bread with another entrée — next time we will ask for that and I highly recommend you do too. Everything else was perfect — I can’t wait to go back and bring friends! Enjoy!

I’ve been here twice, and sadly my experiences could not have been more different. The first time was pretty much right after they opened, and it was really good. The service was great, and the food(I had the homemade pasta) was just amazing. It’s been a while, but we went back this past week and unfortunately it was just not how I remembered the place. When we arrived the host told us about the daily special, which was pasta half off. As he was seating us I mentioned that we made a reservation with open table, and he came back a few minutes later saying that he can not give us the daily special. Basically we have to choose between the special or the open table points, but not both. I understand where he is coming from, but the daily special is even printed on the menu. Maybe adding some ‘restrictions apply’ for open table reservations?! We had the oysters and the cheese plate: the oysters were really warm, so I only had one. I just didn’t taste great. The cheese plate was a mix of blue, cow and goat cheese. They were all nice, but they are $ 6 each, and really not that much of cheese on the plate. Even Whole Foods cheese would have been cheaper. Also, there was no indication where that cheese came from, so that would have been nice to know. The server was a little over attentive for my taste, but that might just be me. On the plus side though: the cocktails were really good! I’d come back for a drink, but food: not so much.

This place offers a lot of specials(half off desserts on Sunday’s, happy hours, etc) almost every day of the week. The atmosphere was hip and the bar seemed popular. Overall, it was a fun place to try out, though I wasn’t too impressed by their main dishes. Their desserts, on the other hand, were special and delicious. We got the deconstructed s’mores and the not your fathers root beer float; both were very unique and yummy.

Solid 3 stars all around. I came here with a few friends for the usual casual Sunday brunch. The place was packed, so I would definitely call ahead and make a reservation. The space is pretty small as well, so you might be squished against a wall #bugstatus Pro Tip: If you’re still a lil groggy, order the coffee. It’s only $ 5 and its bottomless! We ordered the Chef’s breadbasket for an appetizer for the table. I would say, if you have a party of 6 or more, order 2. The breadbasket had 3 cheddar biscuits, 3 lemon flax muffins, and a slice of coffee cake. A small appetizer, but it did it’s job: appetizing us. The brunch menu is small(~7 items) and they’re all pretty expensive(~$ 15-$ 24). I remember asking the waiter about the Arthur’s breakfast in the brunch options and he said that it’s a pretty small dish and he usually recommends it as an appetizer. Wut… Put it in the appetizer section! Anyways, I got the Lamb Sausage omelet. It came with a side of spinach and sweet potatoes. Delicious, but definitely not worth the pricepoint. The wait staff was superb, consistently filling up waters/coffee and taking away dishes. Super knowledgeable about the menu and didn’t hover over the table when we were making our decisions. Major kudos and a pat on the back. I would visit again, but probably for the drinks: $ 15 bottomless mimosas is a steal!

How did we find this place? Through a twitter invite by the chef. Am I biased because of the personal invite? He** No! I’d tell you like it is, either way. If he was attempting to impress me and my girlfriend with his mad skills in the kitchen, he sure did! The wait staff’s excellent service followed suit. We were lightly pampered and bedazzled by the chef and his extravagant dishes. The appetizer special with quinoa encrusted shrimp over pickled apples and spread were so unique! I absolutely loved the texture and taste. For the main entrée, both of us ordered the scallops. These are not to be missed! I couldn’t decide what was better, the scallops or the winter vegetable compilation he put together to compliment them. Wow! I will be fantasizing about this dish for days to come! I may even have to come back to DC for more! There is nothing better than an entire meal that is seamless from start to finish, and that’s exactly what we got. The dessert special was phenomenal. Not sure exactly what it was made with but I do remember the coconut macaroon and vanilla gelato with fresh pomegranates. The cheese platter with Chef Arthur’s homemade goat cheese was a precious gift, uhh the best! Thanks for sharing with us Arthur! Would I return? Absolutely! For a dinner date, a business date, a family date, even maybe just for something casual or fun. This place is cozy and CRAZY good. Enjoy!

We loved the idea of the restaurant, but the prices are exorbitant for what you get. Locally sourcing is always is best in my book. fresh ingredients from close by and supporting your local farms/businesses/etc. Rundown of the meal: Doughnut balls app — ok at best — fried dough with bacon and blue cheese. They were soggy in the middle and the ingredients were not distributed(hard to do with this kind of thing). Some were overpowered with cheese, and others had nothing inside. Short Ribs entrée– loved the smoked ribs, they were perfect. The sides, typical. I could make them at home. The scallops entrée– to die for. Cooked to perfection, and the vegetable medley it came with was unique and tasty — made even me, an avid brussel sprout hater, enjoy the brussel sprouts. However, the veggies lacked consistency(some undercooked and some over cooked) Desert — s’mores Not really s’mores and severely disappointing– the mousse was grainy and heavy. It wasn’t fluffy, soft, or silky. Needs work. Desert Drink — buttercake cocktail. It had butter, rum, and spices for an awesome warm winter drink. I really enjoyed it, but I feel that it had just too much bite. It needed to be smoothed out somehow. My suggestion is a crème liquor of some sort.

Snowvilla 2016… or winter storm jonas… or snownegedon threequell… brought me and my gf into this place. They were sponsoring a buy one entrée and get one entrée free deal because of the coming one inch of snow. So the gf and I decided to take advantage of it. For starters we got a doughnut ball filled with bits of cheese and bacon(forgot thr name) I was disappointed that there wasn’t more bacon. It was essentially a fancy hush puppy. We ordered the scallops and they were done perfectly and came with Brussels sprouts and vegetable medley. The Brussels sprouts wa good and the vegetable medley was tastey. There were some pieces undercooked so it had an intestine texture of soft and hard. Also ordered the short rib and it was very flavorful. Very smokey and very tender. I replaced my side of sweet potato fingers for sweet potato hash. The hash was good. For dessert we got the smores. It was interesting. The mousse had a grainy liquid texture… not a fluffy whipped texture. So I wasn’t sure if this was a different style… but it was good. Gf ordered a rum buttercake cocktail. I wasn’t a fan. I don’t like tasting the bite of alcohol in my drinks. The gf seemed to enjoy it. Overall… the entrees are on point and done very well.

3.5 Stars! I came here for brunch with a friend — we got a stellar deal on Travelzoo. So it was $ 20.00 per person before tax/tip. At that price, the meal was definitely worth the price tag! We received an entrée plus bottomless mimosas. The place itself is pretty small, but cute! Be sure to make reservations — the space filled up quickly. The mimosas were great — not too sweet/high in orange juice. Our waitress was sure to keep them flowing. I ordered the steak and eggs as my entrée and the portion size was great. It came with a side salad, butternut squash hash, two eggs, and a good size steak. The salad was a bit on the salty side — but I guess when paired with a slice of the steak, it worked. The steak could’ve been a bit more seasoned, but at least it was cooked correctly(medium rare)! The squash was delicious — perfect side item to the dish. Eggs were eggs. Overall, it was a solid brunch spot — but nothing special. Also, our meal(my friend and I ordered the same thing) would’ve came out to be $ 72.00 before tax/tip which I thought was pretty high. At that price, I don’t think it was quite worth it, but if you have a special then definitely go for it! I’d also probably come back to try other menu items. Not everything is priced highly, so there’s more affordable options :)

Had a nice dinner with friends over halloween. Parking was available on the street right outside. Intimate atmosphere. Nice cocktails. Bacon doughnuts are a great starter. I had the pork belly which has beautiful grill marks, and was a generous serving size for the entrée. Pretty reasonably priced. Would come back

Where has this been hiding!?! I’ve lived in the neighborhood for a year and consider myself an H Street aficionado though I’ve never even seen DC Harvest. Stumbling upon this by accident, I knew I wanted to try it for a nice dinner and finally got the chance. After reading this review you MUST go yourself. The Drink: Sour Cherry Gin Gel Cocktail(aka, fancy jello shot):($ 6): UNRATED I feel like I have no expertise in this department because I’m not a fan of jello or knowledgeable about gelatin food in general. Though I admire trying something different and something I haven’t seen anywhere else. Bravo, DC Harvest. The Grub: Sweet Potato Side($ 6): A I was craving a bit of the good ‘ol fall favorite but was assuming I wouldn’t get my money’s worth of this. Boy, was I wrong. A pile of baby sweet potatoes about the size of large fingerling potatoes were graced with spices, blow torched marshmellow, and served at the perfect temperature. Awesome! Scallops($ 23): A Some of the most perfect Scallops I’ve ever had(especially this inland) and they were joined by the best Brussels sprouts I’ve had in a restaurant(mixed with curried pumpkin, pumpkin seeds, and mushrooms). Totally stealing that one for the winter cooking rotation. Pork($ 24): A– One of the most tender piece of pork I’ve ever had seasoned with lemon pepper and also joined by a side of rice and vegetables. This side had nothing on my Brussels Sprouts and was a bit too salty for me, though had enough of Sweet Potatoes to keep us happy. So I’m keeping this one in my pocket and definitely will be back for HH and another occasion.

Great farm to table spot in DC. I stopped in after checking out the H street corridor on a recent trip to DC. The location is about a 10 – 15 minute walk from the metro station. I’m sure locals may know of a more direct route. Overall I had a very pleasant experience. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a selection of local craft beers to start. We ordered the«doughnuts» to start. The fried batter combined nicely with the smoke flavor of the bacon, creaminess of the cheese, and tang of the mustard. I would highly recommend trying the«doughnuts» at DC harvest. For my entrée, I had the grilled top sirloin steak. It was cooked to my liking, nice and medium rare. The steak sauce also was fantastic. It had a bit of cinnamon in it which got me ready for the upcoming autumn season. My girlfriend ordered the spelt spaghetti. It was good but spicier than anticipated and sat in some liquid from the sauce. To top it all off for dessert, we got the chocolate pot. It had a smooth chocolate mousse under a layer of smoked marshmallows giving it that s’more summer flavor. It was paired with a raspberry cookie which was perfect for dipping and indulging.

I’m a huge fan of fried chicken. So we planned our visit for a Monday because that’s one of the days(the other is Tuesday) fried chicken is on the menu. The waiter made much of how DC Harvest prepares its chicken. When it arrived, though, it was a huge disappointment. The crust was so heavily seasoned that it tasted like fried seasoning. My husband & I both hated it. We also had the bacon doughnuts as an appetizer. They were disappointing as well. They also would better be named bacon hush puppies. The only part of the meal we liked were the marshmallows we were given at the very end.
