The one star goes to the waitress. The service was the worst I have ever experienced. A homeless man of the street came into the restaurant walked around to the few tables that were there and asked for money, when he got no satisfaction he proceeded to the table in the back and started eating what should have never been left on the table anyways. The cook must have ditched his job cause the manager was cooking for everyone, which cause everyone’s food to be cold when it did hit the table. There were only two tables seated when we arrive at 1 am, one of them complaining which should have given me a heads up. Don’t even call your food in you wait forever for that.

Walking home, in the snow, still buzzed from the happy hour that ended around midnight that somehow I forgot to order food at… and what do we have here? Denny’s? Well, I’m probably too sauced and hungry to care that it’s mediocre diner food served at an unfortunate hour. At least, that’s what I was thinking. Wrong. Easily the cleanest, most welcoming Denny’s I’ve been to: non-judgmental and prompt service of a tired and tipsy white dude in a suit, legitimately good decaf coffee, and, well, the Slamwich. My goodness, the Slamwich. Piping hot, crispy toast encompassing a heavenly egg… something? Omelette? Frittata? I don’t know, but it was scrambled eggs, maple sausage, and I think something else melded together with a layer of ham and cheese on top for good measure. I finished half of it in under 2 minutes. And the hash browns, while no Waffle House, were cooked perfectly. 1100 calories later, I knew I had just been a part of something very special. I won’t lie to you — if I were a third shift chef at a Denny’s, I’d phone it in. But there was pride in this Slamwich. Hell, there’s a lot you could get away with if you were running one of the only 24-hour restaurants in a not-well-traveled neighborhood, and I’d take it as par for the course and not dock points. But literally every expectation I had was surpassed. I don’t take pictures of food in restaurants because I try not to be that person. But I want everyone to feast their eyes on a motherflipping Slamwich done right. As soon as I figure out how to post it.

Have been here at least a dozen times in the past 6 months. My Beloved drives for metro and his division is about two miles away. So after a long day this is our go to spot. We both absolutely love the food. He gets anything from the steak and eggs to the moon over my hammy. I tend to stick with the lumberjack. It’s always hot and tasty and served with a smile! The young people that serve are consistently friendly and well mannered. Even though I think one was a little too friendly with my Beloved asking him one too many questions, batting those big eyes. Lmbo! Little girl don’t you see all this he working with right across the table? No worries! Even she was courteous and delivered exceptional service. All in all check it out if you enjoy good, inexpensive food and great service!

The food and service are good. However, do have an issue with the kids eat free promotion. Charged us $ 6 for kids drinks and then when questioned took off one of the drinks. The manager did not even come and talk to us directly. Not a big deal for $ 6 but we do frequent the establishment once to twice a month. Definitely fell short this time.

Took forever to take my order, when it came, it was so cold seems like it was in the refrigerator. Paid my bill and left unsatisfied, never to return

Thank God for Antonio(Who wasn’t our server but was a great help, mainly due to his tenure over our brand new server who will remain nameless.) I wish I could post the video of my order to this because it looks NOTHING like how it is depicted on the menus. I mean granted everything is embellished and/zooshed up for marketing and advertising’s sake however the reality of what was on my plate looked like a drunken attempt that was anything but appetizing. Last night our server could do little to accommodate, and in comes Antonio to rescue. He listened to my issues with the meal and immediately went to kitchen to let Pedro have it for BSing my meal. It still wasn’t right unfortunately, but I’m starving and the food is cheap so this is a battle that my taste buds are just gonna have to take an L on. Maybe better luck next time if there is a next time.

Love LOVELOOOOVETHISPLACE! Ok here’s the honest review you’ve been waiting for. Every individual experience is different and if you are a foodie or restaurant goer like me you understand how the quality of the food and service is very important EVERY time. I have been to this Denny’s multiple times and whenever I’m in the neighborhood I make sure I stop by for their smoothie is simply AWESOME. Whenever I go I always get greeted with a smile and seated right away, except if it’s a weekend where the place is packed but that understandable due to the Saturday brunch crowd and Sunday church crowd. I am very picky about breakfast and after going to places like Founding Farmers and Blue Duck Tavern adding this this place to my go to places says a lot. Let’s talk food. I usually order their steak and cheese omelet or T-bone steak and eggs and have yet to be disappointed my food is always hot, and my steak is always cooked to perfection. I substitute the toast that comes with it with pancakes(Yes you can do that at no extra charge… thank me laterJ). I get mushrooms, green peppers and onions to my steak and potatoes, soo yummy. Maybe it’s because I understand that this is a restaurant and not a fast food place that I don’t go crazy when it’s a packed house and my steak takes a little longer. After all it is raw food they put on the grill not precooked. If you want your food in 5 min go to the McDonalds up the street instead. Quality food takes care and time, I’m sure we would all be mad if our food took 5 min but was undercooked. As far as servers go it’s hit or miss but I never got a mean or rude one. I tend to believe if you walk in there with a smile, you will be greeted with one in return. The last time I was there the owner even came out to say hello and asked if everything was ok. Which to my surprise was an African American man. Who knew it was a black owned business(that is a plus for me, I love to support minorities owned establishments). Ok this is getting pretty long but I get sooo excited talking about great places with even greater food. I would go here over Ihop any day! No they don’t have scrapple but that’s not a make or break for me. Give it a try I have yet to be disappointed by this place. Oh and please tip your waiters I had to watch this poor girl go through hell with a couple and their three children. When it was over with, they didn’t even tip her! Poor girl kept running back and forth for them with a smile and got nothing in return. That’s just not right.

I have been to many a denny’s. This one is far and away the best. The staff was friendly and polite. We had fast service and everyone pitched in to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was cooked perfectly. Makes me wish I lived near here, but will be back when I visit dc again.

Dispite good day service, the late night staff does not perform their duties up to par. Late night staff was ran by A Hispanic male acting as manager. He does manage the quality of what’s leaving their kitchen nor his staff. I had to go back 3 times until my order was correct. A black female with dreads expedited the food incorrectly twice. The ignorance should not go unlooked. Done. 0 out of 5

Creative Waitressing for sure ! So I usually don’t bother reviewing chains as the food typically doesn’t differ but I just had to share my experience at this Denny’s. I was in town visiting with my best friend and I wanted to grab a quick bite before getting on the road. We googled what was close and opted to go to this Denny’s. The hostess that greeted us was very nice and it was refreshing that there was gospel music playing as we entered, I’ve never experienced that before. Our server was friendly and our food was as expected and we did not have any issues until it was time for the check to come. First it took a lot longer than it should have for our server Antoinette G to initially give us our check. We waited and looked around for her for 15 minutes. We then asked if it could be split because we both had cards, that took another 10 minutes and then when she returned with the split check she asked us to write the TOTAL amount and SIGN! As everyone knows typically your server processes your card with the total before gratuity and then you write your gratuity in, sign and leave. NOT the case for Ms. Antoinette G, she wanted to make sure you were giving her a tip ! She hovered over us as we wrote, talk about browbeating your customers ! My best friend wrote in her total and I did as well making mine an even number and leaving the majority of her tip in cash. She didn’t even allow us to get up from the table before she snatched her cash tip, talk about classless! While I understand this Denny’s is not in the best location, you cannot browbeat your customers into tipping you. I have NO problem tipping and have eaten in numerous establishments in the US and overseas and have never had someone ask me write my gratuity in before processing my card. Never again

I love this place! Usually not a big fan of these type of diners but this location is the best. I have only had one occasion when I have seen a server who wasn’t so friendly. Other than than that there service is great! The food comes fast as well. I visit this place almost every morning I am off.

My wife and a friend of ours decided that at midnight, we wanted to eat. My wife and I have gone to this particular Denny’s before and we normally have great service. However, the service was super slow. It took a while for us to get our drinks. It literally took longer to get drinks than our food. The food was delicious like always. Oh, and there weren’t a lot of people. That’s why I was a bit surprised that our service was pretty slow. Oh well. I would come back again though.

My meal was yummy. I couldn’t all of the Lumberjack slam. The service was nice. We received our food quickly and our server brought the food in perfect timing. I did notice that another server forgot quite a few things for his table but he wasn’t ours. My server did disappear for a little while when we wanted to get the check separated. We ended just getting the cashier to separate it.

I went here at like 3am on a Sunday morning, the place was full of people that were clearly drunk but that didn’t stop Brittney from seating me and my 2 friends. I’ve been here many times and normally order the sampler which is normally a combination of appetizers. Once the food arrived, I was not disappointed. Everything was made to perfection. Brittney was so nice during the whole experience, she made sure I had everything I needed. She even helped me deliberate between ranch and barbecue sauce. If you’re contemplating going here, go for it.

One early morning in early August, I awoke with anticipation. Later that night, The Cure were playing Lollapalooza in Chicago and I was going to watch their set online, comfortable in D.C. and far away from the mud, sweat, and douchebag tears(okay, may douchebags don’t cry to The Cure, but I do). To celebrate«seeing» The Cure in 2013, I engaged in behavior I would have in 1993 and went to a Denny’s. On this Sunday morning in 2013 this Denny’s was very unlike the ones I went to 20 years ago. It was filled with pleasant parishioners straight out of church and dressed in their finest. To accompany their eating of greasy food(to get the lord faster?), gospel and soul music played in the background at relatively loud volumes(but, hey, it beats Hootie & The Blowfish). And people were actually singing along. Unlike many Denny’s I’ve been to in the past, the bathrooms here were(almost) spotless and the service was spot on. It did take some time to get refills on my sweet tea but the place was packed so I’m giving my server the benefit of the doubt. They all seemed to be in great moods at least. Not surly like many Denny’s waitstaff. The food was Denny’s quality. So it wasn’t the world’s finest brunch but the portions were big and inexpensive. While I’m not about to shout«hallelujah» about my time eating here, Denny’s put me in the spirit. Besides being difficult to get to without a car, this Denny’s is the best I’ve been to. And with a stomach full of Grand Slam hours later, I enjoyed my concert 1993 style.

I reluctantly came here after an intense work out at Bikram with my friend Amani. Our server Sashia was awesome! The salad and my egg whites were absolutely delicious. I never come to Denny’s but this one is a must. The hot chocolate is bomb. The atmosphere is nice and clean. I suggest you come here if you’re on a late night move. BC
