I don’t know who works the night shift(after 12am.) But this is the third week in a row that I have come down(every time with other people, today with 3 others), and all that was manning the shop was a sign that read«In the bathroom, be back in 5 min.» Each time I have waited up to about 30 minutes and every single time whomever is working has not returned. Luckily for you I do not steal what I came down to purchase, luckily for you, the patrons I have been down there with have left money for the absent attendant each time. That’s not it either, the times I have come down and there is somebody there, he’s either asleep at the register, sprawled out under a blanket with the chairs put together or head down on the back counter(by the credit card machine). I got it, night shift sucks, there aren’t very many customers. If that’s such a big deal than you need to find a new job. This is unprofessional, unfair to anyone who works nights in the Pentagon as this is the only place to purchase food and frankly, poor management. Honestly, IF I come back, I hope to see a new face on night shift. Hint hint, get rid of the extra weight. By the way, since honest people are leaving cash at the register. You might want to check to see if(and somehow how this person could figure out what to ring up) this person is pocketing the money left by the honest folks or entering them into the register. I’m willing to bet you are losing revenue and they are getting ‘paid’ for your loss in inventory.

When I use to work at the Pentagon this restaurant was the closest to my area of the building. I loved their fries in a cup and fresh made salads. However this place is ridiculously overpriced. Having been a lower enlisted member of the military I could not afford their $ 10 sandwiches and $ 15 combo meals. Their burgers and cheese steak sandwiches were utterly disgusting and fattening.

Dominic’s is my go-to lunch place, and not just because its close to my office. The made-to-order salads are my saving grace from the seemingly zillions of fast food options. The staff is always friendly, and if you hit up the basement location, there’s rarely a line. Tip for salad eaters: both locations have fake bacon bits on display, but real bacon available if you ask for it. While I generally stick to the salad side, the grill side has never disappointed either. They have everything from daily hot lunch specials to philly cheesesteaks to grilled cheese and burgers, and a plethora of side items to choose from. I’ve always enjoyed the sandwiches, and I’m a sucker for waffle fries. The prices may seem a little high, but considering EVERYTHING is made to order, and especially for me the salads are full of fresh ingredients, its worth it on the days I don’t bring lunch.

Katie is right — for the 23,000 denizens, this is the place. It’s even better if you’re on the watch — the new basement location near the NMCC is now 24 hours so it will provide food even for those defending the nation for our liberal democracy. A warning though — the food here is very heavy. I’m not sure how people stay awake after eating this stuff — I was nodding off at my desk after a sausage sandwich laden with onions. Mmmmm…

For the 23,000 Pentagon employees that roam the halls everyday looking for a hearty lunch– I found the place for you. Dominic’s of New York, a curious little restaurant that specializes in premium and flavorful grilled sandwiches, has two locations(a kiosk and a full restaurant) in this huge labyrinth of an office building. And even though the Pentagon is a rather large place I promise you can find either location by following the smell of grilled onions… The menu is peppered with New York inspired grilled sandwiches– the Steak sandwich which is seasoned with your choice of one of their delicious steak seasonings and topped with sweet peppers & onions and your choice of cheese; the Italian Sausage sandwich made with Dominic’s world famous New York style sweet or hot Italian Sausage and topped with sweet peppers & onions; and the Chicken Cordon Bleu which has tender strips of ham smothered with melted Swiss cheese. A word to the wise– this place is not for the light hearted… come with a BIG appetite! Those of you who are thinking, «I don’t have the clearance to get into the Pentagon”-don’t fret! Head over to RFK stadium for a baseball game– Dominic’s is the official hot dog and sausage of the Washington Nationals! Enjoy!
