So I’ve gone to this truck twice this week because 1) I was hungry and 2) consistency testing purposes 3) they were giving out free chips 4) they give you a nifty card for free drink and chips if you get 5 sandwiches. While the truck needs to be a bit more organized, I’m pretty pleased with the food. They do give you a pretty significant helping of crab meat giving the sandwich a good bread to meat ratio. I’d say if I were to compare this to the Lobster Truck, this one wins hands down. No ridiculous lines, cheaper, larger sandwich, and more flavorful. Some things they could improve upon is making it more obvious which window people should be ordering at and shouting the order numbers out since there is a loud motor running at the back of the truck.

I was really pleased with the crab salad. I ended up buying a second for dinner it was so good. I didn’t get a chance to eat it that night and wound up having it the next day for lunch and it was amazing to me how well the salad held up. I forgot to ask for the dressing on the side so it was on the salad when I purchased it and it tasted great the next day. I did not opt for the free chips but was given a free drink instead which I thought was a nice touch. I think the salad is a great value and perfect for those of us who want to minimize the bread. The sandwich looks excellent with toasted bread and a huge mound of crab(with no filler) and a piece of lettuce and tomato to finish it off. They take all credit cards and the process is quick and easy. There wasn’t too much of a line either so it didn’t take too long. Can’t wait for my next crab salad.

As promised, here’s the updated review, and the redemption was indeed sweet for Feelin’ Crabby. Luckily this time it was only 2 blocks from my office, so I didn’t have to endure the hour+ trek through DC to hunt them down, in blistering 100+ degree weather. You can’t miss this truck( ), it’s easily one of the most vibrant and well graphically enhanced on the road right now. The line moved incredibly efficient, one of the benefits of arriving pre-noon, and another bonus for me, they take credit cards. There are essentially only two offerings here, a crab sandwich and a crab salad, both priced at $ 11. You can get a variety of drinks, or their homemade lemonade or tea(or an Arnold Palmer blend), as well as Utz chips, all fairly priced compared to other trucks. The sandwich itself is actually heaping with straight-up crabmeat, no filler here. It has a dash of Old Bay and a light mayonnaise based sauce, and it’s sweet and tender. It’s served on a nicely toasted bun that really holds the sandwich up perfectly. This is a pretty fantastic sandwich overall, and definitely restaurant quality. Before you complain about the price, just think how much you pay for the average crabcake sandwich in a restaurant, and then remember that most of that is usually some kind of bread crumb filler. Then realize that this is nothing but delicious crabmeat, and a generous portion( ) of it, and you should be able to see the great value. They’ve also done a good job(at least initially) of running some promotions, giving away a free bag of crab chips(side note: these are by far the saltiest chips I have EVER had) to anyone who –asked– for them, as it had been mentioned on Twitter, and also giving out a frequent customer card that gives you free chips and a drink after 5 sandwich purchases. I was pretty impressed with this truck, especially after being so pissed at them last week, and I’m definitely glad that I returned. The only real complaint I have, and maybe this is in fact negligible, is that they don’t offer anything but those 2 crab items, or any way to really customize the food. Granted the sandwich was very good and perhaps it’s best to just make a few good options in this highly competitive market(it seems to work for RedHook, which totally sucks), but I wouldn’t mind seeing a custom dessert or side, at least, to pair with the meal.
