Just dined here and it was FANTASTIC. The food and the service. We ordered the Salmon, Fried Chicken, Caesar Salad, and 8 ounce Filet. Everything is ala carte the sides were, mashed potatoes(which were delicious) broccolini, fried asparagus, and sweet potatoe with pecan praline. Everything was hot and delicious. If the food wasn’t enough the service was 5 star… We’ll be back fingers crossed its this great the next time

Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by my local Joe’s in Chicago too much but this place just didn’t meet my expectations. Service was very slow. Waited 15 min for an appetizer, had to ask for a bread basket. Food was ok. I’ve gotten the skirt steak on plenty of occasions and this time I didn’t love it. The décor is beautiful as its housed in this beautiful building with lots of charm but unfortunately it’s not up to par with the Joe’s reputation. Maybe I had a bad waitress experience, who knows, but I would not be back. The icing on top was when my kids ice cream sundaes arrived with no ice cream, although to their credit they did bring out the ice cream a couple minutes later when they realized they had forgotten it.

We were a party of 8. Service was un-believe-able. I never had an opportunity to empty my glass of water throughout the whole time. Drinks were served promptly. Bread was served immediately. Then starter, salad, entrees and sides in successive order. The food was fan-tas-tic! We didn’t get any pressure to hurry our meal. The waiters were very respectful and attentive. All in all, it was the best value for the dollars that I spent. I could have gone somewhere else and paid ½ or ¾ of what I paid for my dinner and still would not come anywhere close to what the eight of us experienced tonight. You gotta eat here. Hands down. No question.

Came here with my Family of four when we found ‘The W’ was super crowded and it was too hot to eat outside. Joe’s has a very nice atmosphere that feels upscale but not snobby. We were dressed casually and did not feel out of place at all. This place was very busy, but we were seated right away and our friendly Server was there immediately getting our beverage orders. Drinks came out quickly, we ordered and relaxed. My daughter got the king crab legs which pleased her perfectly! My son got a steak which was cooked to perfection and he savored/devoured like the 16 year old steak lover that he has become. I also had a perfectly done steak and my wife enjoyed a chicken dish. We enjoyed the asparagus side dish and then shared dessert. It was a very enjoyable, relaxing experience for us all! Would definitely return!

Joe’s is one of my go to restaurants in the DC area for seafood. Its a professional and grown environment. Great service, excellent food, and sophisticated ambiance. I feel like I have a the pallet of the people. If I like it, most people do actually love it. So… here are my recommendations: Chilean sea bass, brussels sprouts, jennie’s mashed potatoes, and the apple pie. Soo good!!!(Note: For those waistline conscious people, you can order a half portion of the desserts. ;-)

I’m in town for business and looked up seafood places and this one kept showing up in my search. I was pleasantly surprised! Everything we ordered was great, and the food came out very quickly. I also ordered a white sangria and it was probably one of the best sangria’s I had! Highly recommend it. For dinner I ordered crab stuffed shrimp, which weren’t exactly shrimp stuffed with crab, but more crab on top of shrimp. It was very good though. Our service was ok, a better server and it would have been 5 stars.

When my parents come to town, they always want to go to a place for oysters. We usually end up at Old Ebbitt for this reason but I was determined to get them to try a new place. So when they unexpectedly came to DC for an overnight, I brought them here to Joe’s. We were seated in the dining room at a 4 top as my Gran was also in town. To start, we had oysters — on the half shell and fried. I am admittedly not a fan of oysters so I only partook in the bread basket which I was more than happy with. Dad loved the oysters — they were soon gone. For entrees, our table had the grilled seafood platter(me), the branzino(mom & dad) and the fish & chips(gran). As sides, we had the lyonnaise potatoes, steamed asparagus and grilled tomatoes — since all of the entrees are served a la carte. Our dinner did not disappoint. Three sides might have been a little too much for us as we did not finish all of the potatoes — which was a giant heaping of crisped potatoes topped with melty, sauteed onions. My grilled seafood was comprised of scallops, Madagascar shrimp and lobster tail. I was struggling to eat the last ginormous shrimp but I was determined because it was so good. And even though we were full, the 4 of us shared a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie and coffees. I mean at this point, why not? The crust was delightfully flaky due to all of the butter.(NOREGRETS). The strawberry filling was tart — it was a great way to cap off the meal. Our service was flawless throughout. Full glasses, of both water and wine, never a crumb left on the linens for too long before someone quickly cleared them away with our dirty plates. I’d totally come back.

Okay at best. We had the Select Stone Crab as an appetizer can’t complain about this. The Caesar salad was also decent. However, my husband and I both ordered the Grilled Seafood Platter and both of our plates had such a strong char flavor you couldn’t even taste the seafood. We also ordered a baked potato to share as a side, it came with a really nice onion sour cream sauce. The homemade lemonade was the best part of the meal in my opinion. Unfortunately, I probably wouldn’t come back.

Came here to celebrate my graduation with my parents and was not disappointed. I ordered the Filet and Tail with a side of steamed asparagus– my lobster tail was perfect while my filet mignon was a bit too done for my liking(I ordered rare plus and got medium rare). Both were still delicious though. The steamed asparagus was perfectly done. For dessert, I had the Havana Dream Pie, which is more a cake than pie(details, details lol). The most important thing though is that it is RIDICULOUSLY delicious! Omg, what a caramelly, creamy slice of heaven!!! Just thinking about it makes my mouth water… Anyways, I highly recommend this restaurant! I will definitely find some kind of special occasion to celebrate here haha.

I admit this is a lot more traditional of an upscale restaurant than I would typically choose but so glad to have dined here for a work meeting. Service here is superb, five star! We got The Whale appetizer which came with shrimp, lobster, king crab and added stone crab for the table as well. It’s served with drawn butter and signature house mustard. So so good! Most of us got steak of some sort. I’m not a filet girl so I got the strip steak with shishito peppers and lime butter. We also got yummy sides, mac n cheese and corn. The corn is delicious, must have! Everything from the yummy bread basket at the start of the meal to the divine key lime pie at the end was sublime! A great option for an anniversary dinner or special occasion. Worth it!

The ambience is very nice and the waiter was very nice and an incredible salesman. It was our groups first time to this restaurant and we got seated right away for lunch. It started off very promising and we ordered the crab claw and Madagascar shrimp each. We had a vegetarian in our group and he got a salad and a cauliflower steak. The food was actually just average tasting, it might be my spoiled Californian taste. The claw was chilled and I’ve had better crab done Asian style or Louisiana style in crab boil. So it was not the best crab I’ve had and it was expensive at $ 10 per small claw. The shrimp was also about $ 10 each and grilled so I tasted a lot of char which dried out the meat a little, it was not as juicy as I’ve had it before. I ordered crab cake because it is supposed to be famous in this area. It was full of crab meat but not something to write home about. I guess it also got busy suddenly because we had a side order of Brussels sprouts that never was ordered or made and our vegetarian eater actually wanted a veggie burger but got a veggie steak instead, so some miscommunication was had. Overall it started off like a 4 but left with a 2 – 3 star impression in the end by the service and food. The raw oysters was the best and came with a tiny tobacco bottle — so cute

I’ve heard great things about this place from many of my friends and have been dying to try. My boyfriend also comes here all the time for happy hour and dinner with his coworkers and highly recommends this place. So finally, my turn! We came here on a Thursday even and had reservations at 8:30 pm and got seated right away. The venue is very nice and business casual. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and attended to our needs. Here’s what we ordered and my thoughts on a scale of 1 – 10 rating: *Starters: — Large Stone Cold Stone Crab Claws: 10⁄10 *Entrees: –Bone-in Filet Mignon: 8⁄10 –Fried Chicken: 8⁄10 *Sides: –Cream Spinach: 3⁄10 –Mac & Cheese: 3⁄10 *Desserts: –Peanut Putter Pie w/Hot fudge: 8⁄10 –Banana Cream Pie w/Foster Sauce: 10⁄10 All in all, I had a good experience. The food there was pretty decent. The entrees were ordinary, nothing that stands out from other steak houses. The two sides, mac & cheese and cream spinach wasn’t very impressive, but the desserts there were really good. My only must try recommendations would be the stone crab claws which they’re known for, and banana pie for dessert.

First Impression: I made a reservation for 9:30 on a Saturday night for 2 people. I arrived on time but wasn’t seating until 10pm even tho I made arrangements the week prior. The apology for the wait waa dry and didn’t not seem sincere however I was happy to be seated at a large corner booth that seats probably 6 to 8 people. Extra space is always nice! Staff: Our waiter was ok. He wasn’t bad nor was he great. I think we was busy, overwhelmed abd brand new. Either way the bus boy was a lot nicer so he made up for it. A manager came to visit us and she was very friendly. After some alcohol I was no longer upset at the 30 minute wait.(Lychee Sangria was sooooooooo bomb( Food: We ordered the large stone crab(5 claws $ 70!), oysters rockerfeller, fried asparagus and the Havana tres leche cake. I thought the claws would be huge. They were served on a small plate. We didn’t think we had enough crab! But there was a lot of meat and my friend and I were full. It was served cold with drawn butter. It tasted good but I still prefer steamed blue crab with old bay and malted vinegar. We got 4 oysters, I thought it would be 6! The fried asparagus was ok. I wouldn’t get it again. The cake was good. Not too soggy or sweet. I want to give a 3.5 star ratting but I’ll bump it to 4 since the bread served was good and my lychee Sangria was the best. Restaurant: it’s a beautiful classy setting. Great for friends or a romantic date. The music isn’t blaring like at STK so you can actually have a conversation. BECAREFUL. They have slick floors. Put non slip stickies to the bottom of your red bottoms if you don’t want to bust your @ss.

Amazing seafood and more! This place is always packed and it’s easy to understand why once you’ve eaten here. We started out with some king crab legs for an appetizer. They come already cut open and chilled on ice with some drawn melted butter to dunk them in. Delicious! I had their house blue cheese salad next and that was very good but my entrée was awesome. I had the jumbo lump crab cakes for my entrée which were awesome! I hate to admit it but they were as good if not better than most of the crab cakes I’ve had in Maryland. Forgive me Lord lol Almost no filler in these two huge back fin cakes and the dipping sauce they pair them with was amazing as well. Even my sides were delicious. I paired my crab cakes with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Even had a nice fruit plate for dessert since I’ve given up sweets for Lent. What a great dining experience here! Staff is amazing, restaurant is very clean and the ambiance is spot on. Try this place! Bring some extra cash though because good isn’t usually cheap

Gorgeous interior(especially the bar with the high ceilings!!), pleasant and very attentive wait staff, EXCELLENT food. An all around fantastic place. I had been to the Joe’s in Miami Beach, and really had high expectations, and the DC location surpassed my expectations! For appetizers, we had the Oysters Rockefeller and the stuffed mushrooms. Both were incredibly tasty. I had the Alaskan King Crab legs and they were probably the biggest I have ever had! Cooked perfectly, full of thick pieces of crab… YUM!!!

We came here for Valentine’s Day. They quoted an hour wait but we actually waited less than 30min. The restaurant is nice and clean with a fancy feel to it. The valet is $ 12.50 and you must pay right away. I gave the man $ 15 and he never brought the change. Yes, he stole his tip. Then the guy that brought the car to us, stood there waiting for a tip. Annoying. Service. Our waitress sucked. She never checked on us. She never came to refill our drinks. She also would toss things at me. Food. I ordered the grilled seafood platter which comes with shrimp, lobster and scallops. It was pretty delicious. Some of it could have used more seasoning but overall it was tasty. The side dishes don’t come w the meal. I ordered the four cheese Mac n cheese and it was delicious. My husband ordered the 12 oz filet mignon and mashed potatoes… both were good. Before your meal, you are given an assortment of breads. The cornbread and flatbread are delicious. Thank God for the bread Bc the meal wasn’t that filling. For dessert, we had the red velvet pie which is actually a cake. It was served cold, eew. The raspberry sauce on top was delicious but the white stuff was nasty. They should have used cream cheese. Overall, I would come again.

I highly recommend this popular buzzing hotspot and double highly recommend you VALET. The moment I entered this elegant oasis, I knew I was in love. White draperies blanket the grand room and give the atmosphere a crisp layer of opulence. *Most guests are dressed to impress.* Expect the wait to be almost an hour after 4pm. White tablecloth. Outstanding service. The food and service overall is truly top of the line. The restrooms are immaculate, that’s where the fifth star came in. Last night I enjoyed my birthday dinner at Joes. This was my second amazing visit here. The place was jumpin again. There’s a private unsuspecting banquet hall upstairs for rent. Someone was celebrating passing the bar. And speaking of bar, it was open bar and upon departing the ladies room the kind host invited me and my girl over for a few shots. Cheers! As the name suggests, there’s something on the menu for everyone. One of my guests really appreciated the steak, I can’t vouch for that though. Must Try: STONECRAB(duh) $ 90 a plate for 5 Large chilled claws. Go for the Large. Madagascar Shrimp Appetizer ($ 15 e. …it’s the size of your fist) Crab Cakes King Crab Tower Jumbo Fried Shrimp(order them for the table and watch them disappear.) Proud customer for life Joes! You own my heart now!

Mon, Mon, Monaayyy, Monnnnaaaayyyyy! That’s the song that comes to mind after my experience here. Joe’s is a high end steakhouse that combines a sleek and sophisticated look with an old school vibe and feel. I have to really applaud our server for an excellent job on this particular evening. Not sure if she’s an aspiring comedian, but she definitely flashed a witty sense of humor throughout the evening. Another thing I appreciated was her honest insight and suggestions, which helped with navigating the menu. I tried the Spinach Stuffed Mushrooms, Joe’s Chopped Salad, Four Cheese Mac & Cheese, Filet & Tail, Double Cut Colorado Lamb Chops, Banana Cream Pie and Coconut Cream Pie. The Spinach Stuffed Mushrooms were better than expected. Plump and juicy with ample amount of spinach and cheese, it was a great way to start a meal. I only wished there were a few more mushrooms on the plate. The Four Cheese Mac & Cheese is rich and comes in a large portion size. I wouldn’t say it was amazing, but for $ 8.95, at least the value is there. Joe’s Chopped Salad includes Tomatoes, Cucumber, Carrot, Black Olives, Honey Roast Peanuts and Joe’s Vinaigrette. First off, it’s a large salad. Kinda downhill from there. The salad was ok by most standards, but a little off in the flavor department. I think the big thing was the vinaigrette was overwhelming and not the best pairing for the salad. The Filet & Tail was disappointing. The filet in particular was super small and definitely nothing noteworthy. The lobster was ok, but also on the small side. For $ 52.95, I definitely expected more. The Double Cut Colorado Lamb Chops were just decent. Considering the price($ 54.95), I expected tender meat that was packed with flavor. Instead, the meat was a little chewy, which was sad considering I ordered it medium rare. I also don’t think that the amount of meat correlates with the price at all. Definitely deserve at least another chop if not more. The saving grace were the desserts. The Banana Cream Pie was decadent and had just enough banana flavor. The Coconut Cream Pie was airy and with the perfect amount of coconut to ruin the bad taste of seeing an outrageous bill. Needless to say, this place ain’t cheap. Then again, many places in this city ain’t cheap. In terms of value and quality though, my experience fell short. Definitely have to stamp this as… OVERRATED!

Let’s call this my temporary review to be updated in the very near future. I’ll be back and often. I don’t think it’s fair to call this a full review as I ate at the bar and had fish and not steak. With that being said I believe that Joe’s will test out as one of the best restaurants in the city. Exceptional service, fine dining, stiff drinks and knowledgeable staff elevate Joe’s to my first five star review on Unilocal. From my appetizer to my main dish my food came out hot, fast and plenty enough to eat in each serving. A Calamari appetizer began my evening followed by a John Dory with a butter sauce. The John Dory was a firm flounder like fish served w morel mushrooms which all held up well w my bourbons at the bar. Top that all off with there famous Boston cream pie and my night was complete. BTW ask for Donta at the bar, he’s a top bartender and makes a mean old fashion.

Great place for happy hour(cocktail hour, as they refer to it) everyday from 2:30 — 6:30, but good luck finding a seat at the bar if you arrive after 5:30. There are plenty of large tables in the bar area, but many people commandeer them for their«soon to arrive» friends. The space is gorgeous, and has so much history. Formerly a bank, I believe. It is more grandeur than Old Ebbitt Grille, and has only been open in DC for about 18 months. So, they do have brown leather chairs with a glass topped table in the corner of the bar. Perfect for one… or two, if you’re not planning on eating a meal like crab legs. They are pretty pricy for dinner, but not so for cocktail hour. They have several signature cocktails that are half off($ 6). I had the red sangria and their Mojito. Both are excellent. Select drafts are $ 6 too. They have small portion foods to nosh on. The Alaskan King crab roll is tasty, but super small, and not loaded with crab. It’s worthy of the $ 4.95 price tag. The warm potato chips($ 2.95) are really good. The basket is big, but they have a dish towel in the bottom so you’re not getting as much as you perceive. There is enough to share though. If you only get one thing, then I suggest the crab bisque. It’s not a cocktail hour special. It only comes in a bowl size, and it’s $ 8.95. Go on, splurge. You only live once, and this soup will make your life worth living.(A bit dramatic, I know!)
