I’ve been going to this place for 7 years now, and the food never disappoints. Their breakfast is my favorite, but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!

Co-workers and I found Ferdinand through the security officer in our building and we were immediately hooked! Fries and onion rings are AMAZING! I’m not to thrilled about any of their subs but I did only try the cheesteak. It’s like a small mom & pops place to go and get a hot meal.

Ferdinand’s seems out of place in downtown DC. It reminds me of a mom and pop hole in the wall you would find on a street corner in an old residential neighborhood, rather than in the bottom floor of an office building. They specialize in take-out comfort food on the cheap. On my last visit to Ferdinand’s I got two big pork chops, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green beans with bacon, all for under $ 7.00. The fried fish fillet is pretty good too. It’s a great deal and a good alternative to anyone in the Golden Triangle stuck in a serious lunch rut.

Excellent — and surprisingly inexpensive –breakfast sandwiches. For those in the rat race, refreshing.

Meh. The macaroni and cheese needs more cheese. The crispy chicken was crispy. And delicious. The turkey burger was just that, a turkey burger. Nothing to write home about. Is it variety when you’re sick of eating the same food in the area? Yes. Would I make a trip on the weekend because I’m craving it? No.

Surprisingly good. Now, don’t get your hopes up, the four stars you see above are weighted with price and convience. A little more expensive and it could have been two stars! I was impressed that this little hole in the wall existed. There is no outside signage at all. Just walk in 1629 K street and keep going back. Its just a small takeout counter, but my fried fish, collard greens and Cole Slaw all went above and beyond the call of duty for a quick and cheap takeout. Sure, the food is nothing to rave about, but the price can’t be beat.

Here’s a little hidden gem. You actually have to walk through the office building that is 1629 K Street. When you go past the elevators, there is a small hallway leading to a dingy sign that says«Ferdinand’s Snack Bar». There you will find the best sandwiches and hamburgers in the neighborhood. So, delicious and cooked to order. Since it’s hidden and there’s no seating, the cost is really low. Some samples include: Egg sandwich — $ 1.75 Cheeseburger — $ 2.80 Chicken Salad Sandwich — $ 4.35 I would definitely recommend this place to folks who are tired of Au Bön Pain, PotBelly’s, or Corner Street Café.
