Pretty solid sandwich selection. The famous McDougall is good, but my personal favorite is the PBJB — a PB&J with granola and sliced bananas — delicious! It’s what I get almost every time.

This is a review for the sandwiches. They are a nice switch up from the other sand which shops around. Very nice portions and a decent sandwich, but prices are a tiny bit higher then I would like. Their fountain soda is delicious but it unfortunately had been done for a few weeks now(hopefully it will be back for the school year). I recommend the chicken park sub or the Georgie(turkey bacon avocado ranch wrap).

For a campus convenience store, FoBoGro is very convenient. The grocery portion is open late which is helpful if you need beer late when most liquor stores are closed. The prices on groceries are a bit expensive. The sandwich portion(also open late) has some pretty good sandwiches and wraps for the area. Some of the sandwiches are a tad pricey, but good and worth it. I recommend the Famous McDougall, which is delicious. You can also get the salad options as a wrap, which I sometimes do for the Chicken Caesar. Overall, FoBoGro is a convenient grocery/sandwich shop that is great for the area.

Great little grocery store with a little of everything and a top-shelf selection of beer and wine. The sandwiches are tip-top, especially the McDougal(buffalo chicken). The staff is fun and college-quirky, and the owner, Kris Hart, is a great guy.

FoBoGro is definitely a staple for anyone in Foggy Bottom. Their upstairs convenience store is great for cheap things like snacks, or drinks including beer, and definitely the only place within a few block radius of Potomac Housing to get dip and/or rolling papers so its definitely convenient. The Downstairs sandwich shop is good, but not great. The selection is tailored to college kids with who are either A. Drunk B. High or C. Don’t care what they eat as long as they eat. The food isn’t necessarily bad, its just not great. If I’m not desperate for a sandwich at 11:45 pm, id rather make my own food or get a pizza delivered. And for the size of the sandwich, i paid about $ 10 for the tomato, pesto and basil with«chicken», which i thought was a bit much considering the quality of the ingredients, but i was so hungry when i got it that i really didn’t care while i was eating. Worth a trip if you are drunk, high, or to hungry to care, other than that, make something yourself

Review for shop only. Small selection, high prices. Only went there because of their hours. They twice ran out of plastic bags for my groceries. What? how do you run out of bags? I had to buy trash bags there and carry my stuff home in those because OFCOURSE they wouldnt tell me they had nothing for me to carry stuff in until after I had purchased it. The half wit with dread locks just stared at the stuff on the counter and said«sorry for the inconvenience sir». unbelievable. I coerced him into looking for a bag or box in the back but they had«none man». a grocery store with no bags or boxes. sure. never again. never again.

Absolutely delicious food but I just can’t get past the fact that I’m not full after buying a sandwich and a bag of chips that cost $ 10. I guess I’ll go in next time and just buy 3 of their version of grilled cheese for that price.

I may just cry thinking about this place. My friends and I interned on the hill and we were temporarily dorming at GW. Every single night after my 10 he shift, after I was dead tired fobogro always had the right sandwhich. I love love love this place, it’s like a hidden treasure, absolutely delicious food. I love the smorewhich, the ‘Murican, and the mozzarella one :) I love this place. Everyone needs to try this place. I could go on forever about the greatness that is fobogro :)

The glaciers melted faster than it takes these guys to make even a grilled cheese. Also half the time the staff really stiff you on the amount of material in the sandwiches. You end up paying 10 bucks to wait 10 minutes for a pretty lukewarm sub roll with some old lettuce and a few pieces of turkey.

Review for the deli only I can deal with everything being overprice because it is on GW’s campus, however the staff here are the worst. They are rude, have ZERO customer service, and are so slow. My most recent experience highlights the stupidity of the staff: I order a smorewich and ask the girl working there if she has any diet coke left, or if they have it upstairs. Her response: «how should I know…» I pay for my sandwich and tell her that I am going to go upstairs to see if they have any diet coke. I come back down about 3 minutes later, and they didn’t even start making my sandwich yet. When I asked them why, she tells me that it is because they thought I left, even though I already paid and told them I was going upstairs quickly. She makes my sandwich, I leave, and go to eat it. I take a bite and realize that a key component of the sandwich, the graham crackers, are missing. I call them up and the guy said if I wanted another, they would make it for me. I tell him to start making it because I do not feel like waiting, and leave my building. I go back to the deli and one of the employees looks at me, shakes his head, and goes into a corner to laugh. The trashy girl who made my sandwich wrong in the first place doesn’t even apologize and just hands me my sandwich with a giant smirk on her face. I guess they found it funny that I cared enough to come back to get my correct order after they messed it up in the first place. Regardless if it was ridiculous or not, don’t laugh and be rude in front of the paying customer’s face.

I really like this unique GW sandwich spot and grocery. I love the Smorewich which is basically just a grilled Nutella and fluff sandwich… but it’s nice boi. Shout out to Fobogro yo. The Unilocal coupon for a free drink is tremendous and their sugary flavored sodas are amazing. Honestly, I’m a big fan of their grocery too. They have a fantastic beer selection. The weigh and pay candy is awesome. Prices are fair too. Love some GW owned Fobogro!

As downtown DC workers may know, most dining options in the area are moderate to pricey, hardly ever cheap. Thankfully, I work close enough to GW, where businesses cater to college students instead of working professionals. FoBoGro is one of the happy results of a college being in an urban/commercial setting. Filling, delicious, and affordable sandwiches are available to nearby office workers for less than what they’d pay at the deli immediately below their office building(unless they work right near GW’s campus). FoBoGro is vegetarian– though not vegan-friendly. Lovers of cheese can rejoice: Every sandwich comes with some cheese, foreign or domestic. The sandwich shop’s favorite fruit must be apple because it’s featured in at least five sandwiches. My very first meal from FoBoGro was the Hartland, a creamy, delightful sandwich made with hearty ciabetta bread and filled with brie cheese, honey mustard, apples, and caramelized onions. Yum! I can still taste it now. This menu item was decadent and satisfying in every way, worth every food coma-induced agony that followed. Though I’ve been pretty good about reducing dairy from my diet, I had to give in today, and this sandwich made it one indulgence I don’t feel too guilty about. With tax, the sandwich was around 6.50. Not bad. The ever popular grilled cheese sandwich comes in three varieties here and averages around four bucks a pop. Now that’s a steal, though yes, it is just cheese. Judging by my friend’s loyalty to FoBoGro’s most classic version of the American favorite, you probably can’t go wrong with any of the grilled cheese options. Service can be a bit slow, but I was told that the kind of sandwich you order ultimately determines how long it’ll take for them to ready your purchase. For instance, a turkey sandwich arrived before the grilled cheese because it had to spend some time in the panini press while the former probably only had be heated briefly in the oven. Nothing fancy, but good comfort food for the average 9 to 5er without the bottomless wallet.

I love their grilled cheese! I have been here twice, but came on Saturday with a friend because I had an offer from Belly Card for a free grilled cheese that expired that day. I also got an offer for a free fountain drink via Unilocal that I will use on my next visit. Only caveat is that the lines can be long due to FoBoGro’s popularity and small size. However, the pros outweigh the cons so this grilled cheese lover will be back!

I want to support the local small businesses, since Foggy Bottom is awash with small chains. But, while I sporadically visit FoBoGro, their prices are on the high side, compared with their lunch time competition. I would recommend getting a sandwich; I’ve only tried the Buffalo Chix on flatbread, but it was very tasty. More recently, I ordered the Fiorenza salad with grilled chicken, which came out to ~$ 10. For that amount, I would expect a very well made salad, so I was disappointed to get a lot of spring mix and oily vinaigarette, with only a little gorgonzola cheese, walnuts, craisins, and chicken to balance the greens. I will probably be back in a few months, but the lesson learned is: stick with the sandwiches at this place!

I love this little spot on GW’s campus; it’s like an upscale, fancier, better convenience store(Sorry 7 – 11 and CVS lovers). With a number of friends living on/around GW’s campus, I always seem to find myself in need of a little something-something to bring to our post-work gatherings. FoBoGro is perfect to grab a quick bite to eat, a 6-pack, or snacks to share. I’ve never really had a bad experience in the place. The staff are friendly and everything is very well laid out. Definitely worth a return trip(or 5!)

It’s overrated. People working there bs the entire time. It took me 8 minutes to get a sandwich, and it was not even that good. They kept the store open during Hurricane Sandy though. That was the highlight.

I really do like FoboGro for their sandwiches! I love the grilled cheese, you really can’t go wrong with this. Their food can be a little pricey though. The smorewich and their PB&J are great if you are craving something sweet. Their buffalo chicken sandwich and bagels are unique too. I also like the Wellington and pretty much anything that I’m in the mood for. It’s a small place and moves quick.
