Sammy’s Coffee Kiosk

Great café latte and reasonable price. I will be back and highly recommend this place.

I walked by Sammy’s kiosk a million times but never thought of stopping by to try his coffee. Enter Unilocal.I was looking for a good alternative to Starbucks in the area and saw all these rave reviews, which proved to be absolutely justified! Sammy is the friendliest guy and his coffee drinks are delicious. Great prices as well. Couldn’t ask for more!

So happy Sammy’s is relatively close to my work! The afternoons when I have time to take a 30 – 40 minute coffee break and walk over to his kiosk are the best days. Sami always greets you with a huge smile, and his positivity is infectious. He brews ME Swings beans, and so far I’ve tried the cappucino & chai latte, both delicious! I believe his official hours are 8:30−3pm, but he also tweets exact open & closing times @samisitrep, I always check to make sure he’s open so I don’t make the trek for nothing. He’s located near potbelly too, and I’ve found that I’ll go to potbelly to grab a sandwich for lunch much more often just so I have an excuse to head to Sammy’s.

Sammy makes terrific café lattes and café mochas at a very reasonable price. Much cheaper than your Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. There is a reason that there is typically a long line for his coffee between 9 and 10:30 am every morning! (Tip: you can usually get in between 11 and 1:00 without a line)
One of the best things about Sammy, though, is his customer service. You will never be served without a smile and a ‘Good Morning!’ Everyone knows Sammy by name, and loves him. This is half the reason that I go to him — because I never leave him without a smile on my face. He is an absolutely wonderful guy.

Excellent coffee… you know it’s quality when that first taste sends a jolt of euphoria throughout your body. I just found my new fav coffee place in DC area!

Best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. Definitely come here, the coffee is the right price and great quality. Forget Dunkin donuts or Starbucks this is the real deal. Very friendly guy too!

Oh Sammy, I’m in love. Seriously the nicest and kindest guy! Top that off with great drinks and breakfast snacks, you’ve got a perfect coffee cart. I don’t drink coffee but Sammy always makes good tea as well!

This is the best coffee kiosk in town. Sammy always has delicious coffee, which is proven by the long line that waits for a cup. If you’re in the area and you need a little pick me up, this is the place to go.

This is my Coffee kiosk… literally… My name is Sammy… OKAY enough of the corny joke, MOVE ON PEOPLE.
If you take a look at my other reviews you’ll see I review a lot of places like this that I find while walking around DC, and I usually love them. Sammy’s is no exception. Not only is his coffee excellent, but they are cheap.
When I happened upon Sammy’s I ordered the espresso for $ 2.50 (Like I said, supes cheap!) and I have to tell you, it was right up there with anything a branded coffee place can throw at ya, you know the one I’m talking about. Sammy himself was very polite, and I found myself wishing I was a regular since I saw a number of people chatting with him and greeting him with smiles that he returned. He seemed like a nice man who really cares for his customers, which is just the sweetest.
If I ever am in the neighbourhood again, I will definitely be visiting sammy’s once more.

Didn’t realize it was cash only. Sammy said, «Don’t worry about it, just pay another day.» This guy’s the real deal.

Yay for the little kiosk with the green top and fantastic coffee! Sami is awesome and the coffee is the best I’ve had in Foggy Bottom. Bring cash.

I never thought I’d find it, but here it is– THE place I am getting my coffee from now on. He is one of the most immediately warm and friendly people I have met. On top of that, his prices are super low (around $ 1−2− CASH ONLY for now) and you get way more than you pay for. I got a cappuccino and it is better than the gourmet coffees I’ve paid $ 7 for at the nice cafés. I’m leaving my Starbucks gold card behind and never going back. I’ve only drank coffee there once (note: I’m not a coffee drinker at all). But I see Sami almost everyday and he always has a greet attitude. He even let me try a vanilla latte for free. Great customer service and great quality products here.

We were led here by my trusty Unilocal app and very nearly wanted to skip it because the line was long and everyone wanted to chat with Sammy. When I wondered aloud to my husband about going to the nearest Starbucks, the woman in line in front of us turned around and said, «This is WAY better than Starbucks. Trust me.»
We chitchatted and she shared with me that Sammy is considered an institution, according to her, he’s been in the area for over 15 years.
I’m so glad we stuck around — when it was my turn I asked for an iced white chocolate coffee with an extra shot of espresso because I hate when flavored coffee is way too sweet. When I explained this, he gave me a knowing nod and made a really wonderfully balanced cup of coffee that was robustly flavored and just the right amount of sweetness.
Plus, his coffee is ridiculously, almost criminally cheap.
His happy energy was truly infectious too! Wish we had a Sammy in our neck of the woods!

Sammy’s has great coffee, especially in comparison to the nearby Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts. The coffee is quite cheap and there are plenty of options from which to choose. Plus, Sammy is unbelievably friendly; you’ll love getting your coffee from him!

Sammy is super nice and really good at making coffee drinks. He foams milk expertly and makes a killer iced chai latte. Arguably the best and cheapest in DC.

Really good espresso. I heard he gets his beans from M.E. Swing’s.
Great price ($ 2.50 for most specialty drinks). And served by the nicest guy around. I love watching him make my drinks because he has such finesse when making his drinks. He puts a lot of attention to detail.

Amazing coffee from Swings in DC (near the White House). Highly recommend — and Sammy is a delight!
