You get what you pay for. The leader of this organization does not treat the children in age– or developmentally-appropriate ways and treats the parents with incredible disrespect. His background is an MBA, not education. I highly discourage participation in this program.

You’ll find all sorts here working out to Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Chinese Lion Dance. Place is open every day of the week so you can work the heavy bags, and train on the floor, or spar with a partner, but show up on time. This school also looks out for health and welfare of the community, running free KF classes for public school students during the summer. Always meet the Sifu. Sifu Abdur Rahim Muhammad is the founder and chief instructor, and a good teacher of practical application. This school has no contracts. Initally you pay for 18 classes which takes you through about 2 months of classes – depending on how often you show up, and then you pay monthly tuition again with no contract — no hard sales talk. HTCM teaches Jow Ga Kung Fu, a predominantly Southern Style, here on U Street. Expect to wear your shoes and to sweat profusely. HTCM has put community welfare back into martial arts.

This place is also a community center, activism nexus, apparently Beatgrinder will be/is relocating here since Capital City records closed down.
