This chain is in other locations than Union Station, but it did hit the spot for lunch. I ordered orange chicken, fried rice, and steamed cabbage all for 5.99. I got a sprite/lemonade mix as well. The refills cost 75 cents. This is a good spot to go to that is quick and inexpensive if you’re in the mood for traditional Chinese carry out style food.

It would’ve been your average Union Station chinese joint masquerading under a «BBQ» sign, if it wasn’t for a couple of things. They have full size chicken wings for $ 1.25 which, if you think about it, amounts to 60+ cents a regular wing. Good deal, if you ask me! From what I saw, vegetable sides are also better than in the other joints. I guess they have to maintain low prices being at the farthest corner of the food court.

Not really BBQ, more like cheap and satisfying Chinese fast food. The BBQ chicken here is not too sickeningly sweet – much better than the Cajun chicken at Cajun grill(another Chinese fast food joint with a misleading name in the union station basement). King BBQ has better chicken, better Chow mein, and waaaay better vegetable sides. I got the steamed cabbage/broccoli and the sautéed string beans with my BBQ chicken(which is more of a sweet and savory take on teriyaki chicken). For $ 6.25, I am VERY satisfied! Protip: for a cheap and fulfilling dining experience, just order a side of chow mein for $ 2.25. It’s a HEAPINGPILE

Good food, cheap prices, if a bit too dry.

They give you sample of fresh chicken, then when you order they give you the dry stuff that his been sitting under the heat lamp for what seems like the day before.

This place gets 3.5 stars from me. First of all, puting it in the bbq categorey is increadibly misleading, they do not serve bbq. What they do serve is filthy greasy chinese food and it is the best filthy chinese food around. Most people who walk by this place will be thouroughly unimpressed, but they make an orange chicken which by the way tastes nothing like oranges, that I would swear has something in it with the addictive properties of crack. Personally I think its great and while it may not deserve a full 4 stars it certainly deserves at least 3. It is greasy, dirty and sits in the pit of your stomach all day after you eat it, but it is delicious and cheap. If you want a really unhealthy meal that tastes great and will put you in a food coma for cheap this is your spot.

In Hawaii, quick services places like this are a dime a dozen. One of the main ways to tell them apart is to see if their chicken is fresh. Places that cook the chicken and refrigerate are at the bottom of the barrel. Unexpectedly, King BBQ has good chicken, worthy of 3 stars by itself. The corn and fried rice were nothing special but the 4th star is for the reasonable prices. Being that they are located in the food court in Union Station, I was expecting to overpay for so-so food. Instead, I got a tasty plate with fresh-tasting food at a reasonable price. I will definitely look for them if I find myself hungry at Union Station again.

King BBQ is in the Food Court at Union Station. It is mainly a chicken establishment, but I was in the mood for shrimp(a rarity in this food court), and for a little over $ 7, ordered the Cajun Shrimp, which came with two sides. Although there are a number of non-carb side choices, I decided on the fried rice and the corn. Now, it is true that these shrimp were not the world’s largest shrimp. In fact, they are rather small, but that is OK. What amazed me is that the server gave me what I thought was a lot of them. So when I sat down at a table, I counted. I had 42 shrimp on my plate. 42. Can(should) anyone eat 42 of anything? I ate about half of them, was well satisfied, thought they went well with the fried rice, thought I had made the wrong choice with the corn(it wasn’t bad; it just didn’t go with the others), and left satisfied. I’d go again and probably try the chicken the next time.

This probably doesn’t totally deserve 4 stars but certainly 3. I’ve just always had a tasty experience! For $ 6, you can get orange chicken, fried rice, and plantains. BUT you can mix and match any other item/side too! I’m usually not a fan of orange chicken but theirs is almost closer to a non spicy General Tsos than really orangy. That’s all I’ve tried so far and while their name refers to BBQ, I can’t vouch for that. Neal’s review of the menu items may be more helpful.

*2.5 — 3 stars* A work colleague and I stopped here for lunch today. King BBQ as it is called —(don’t let the name fool you) is not really about traditional BBQ — at least from what was offered today, it was more about chicken prepared with different sauces, one wing selection, and one ribs selection — but with a slight Asian influence. King BBQ is part of that massive food court in the lower level of Union Station. You can get a little of almost everything down here from the various food court vendors: pizza, gyros, burgers, deli sandwiches, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Greek, and a whole lot more. I ordered a combo of grilled shrimp and chicken, which came with a side of fried rice and a mixed vegetable — predominantly corn — and a bottle of cold water. The food was very average and plain. Not overcooked — not bad or gross — just very plain. The food court is open from 10:00 am — 9:00 pm Monday-Saturday and Noon to 6:00 pm on Sundays. There is lots of seating down in the food court — next time I think I will check out the Gyro or Deli food court options.
