If all of the douches in DC got together and created a special clubhouse — this would be worse. It’s trying way too hard to be a fancy, upscale bottle-service joint, and its not. The music is horrible, the sound system is terrible and the crowd sucks.

DC Night Life: Saturday with friends at MIA night club Contary to all the bad/negative reviews we did have a good experience here. Faz got us in on time, made sure our table was secured, and he went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time. MIA Lounge was awesome on Saturday night. The party was live with a talented DJ, the playlists are dedicated to cutting-edge house, techno, electro, disco, dub-techno, electronic dance music, hip hop, dancehall etc… and anything else that fits within the confines of the crowd’s energy. MIA has two levels, this club is a great space with a lower level and balcony and seating areas. The drinks aren’t too expensively priced at the bar. I would advise if you get a table to make arrangements with friends to split the bill. It is very easy to rack up a huge bill if you keep popping bottles lol. Tables starts at $ 300 which includes shots of vodka, one champagne, jug of orange juice, cranberry juice, and a bottle of Chiroc. Never had a good time here. Recommended for everyone looking to enjoy the night in DC

Let’s be honest, this place looks like it would be a good time, but it is essentially awful. EXCEPTION: When Pole Pressure comes to perform on the pole. It’s a group down in Capitol Hill that has very attractive women(and a very attractive man) come to entertain the masses. If you get there before Midnight, no cover charge. So look out for the Saturdays that Pole Pressure will be there because that’s when you want to be there.

Why is there a white bunny parading around? Am I missing something? Is it the MIA mascot, I don’t get it. Oh well, another round of shots! Standard DC club prices for drinks. Hush up fools, go to cities like NYC and Miami where your vodka cran costs double plus included gratuity. Drinks too expensive or you don’t want to tip these fine service people who work friday and saturday night so that your drunk butt can have a blast, stay the F home! They have a pole and the girls that dance on it are NOJOKE. Go head girrrrrl. Go to MIA, grab a drink, dance and watch the girl rock that pole!

So, if you’re in the mood to hang out in a filthy bar with a floor that’s stickier than three times chewed gum and not as clean, by all means come here. You should especially come here if, like me, you’re rated 50% disabled by the Army and the VA for injuries received on your last tour in Iraq and you want to have the staff make fun of you for the way you walk down the steps. This place is dirty. The drinks are pathetic. To call the staff and the owners disgusting slimeballs would be an insult to decent god fearing disgusting slimeballs throughout the country. Give these people your money if you hate yourself, your family, your country and humanity.

I came here with a group of friends for a friend’s birthday. We got in before midnight so there was no cover. In addition, since we were hovering outside(and they seemed to be a bit on the empty side), they offered us a free bottle of champagne. Sounds good enough to me! The free bottle was not a scam as it arrived with sparklers– so see if you can get one! :-) Pros: Good music to dance to(sort of), nice ambience, great dancer, nice little lounge couches. Cons: What ridiculous prices!!! Don’t order anything at the bar! If you do, stick to just one drink or find someone generous who will fund your drinks for the night ! They are very uptight about what you can and cannot do. For instance, at first, they wouldn’t let us set out coats down on the couch … We had to hold them. Didn’t make sense since we were right next to the couch. It’s also incredibly small and oddly shaped … But if you are enjoying yourself with a group of friends, it should end up being okay! :)

Music that tries to get you to dance, but doesn’t really succeed. Pricey drinks!

I came here with a few friends when we were bar hopping one night. They place isn’t huge and it seems to get really crowded by their one bar. It has a good look on the inside and the ambience isn’t bad. One really interesting thing about the place is the pole dancers. They arent strippers or anything but they are very talented and very entertaining which i thought made the bar unique. I think the dance floor is just kind odd set uo weird but that just comes with the shape and size of the place. This is good place to stop if you are bar hopping. definitely wouldnt pay cover to go there though.

I went here for a friend’s birthday and maybe it makes me a bad friend, but I ducked out quick. Its basically one big hallway with statues and platforms to try to play it off like it is a trendy club. For a dance club, there is no room to really dance. Drinks are overpriced and although the music is good, it is way too loud even for a dance club. This place just tries too hard.

I’ve been to MIA a few times and had a good time. This past weekend was a total fail and I doubt I will be back. I stopped by for a friend’s birthday party. The place is really small and they got two tables near the front door. Since there was quite a few of us we all couldn’t fit on the platformed area. Everytime I ended up stepping off, I was nearly ran over by the staff, be it bouncer or the service, literally PUSHING me out of the way. There was no excuse me or sorry, only a rough push from behind, and a few minutes later it would happen again as they walked back the other direction. I decided to get my friend a drink and got some shooters from the bar. I was annoyed to find that I was charged 39 dollars for three shooters with 6 dollars of tip included. Really? Ridiculous for this place. After, we went to go back by the table, to again be run down by employees. As I was standing there, some drunk guy literally ran into me trying to dance, nearly making me take out the entire table. When I tried to push him away he again tried to push up on me. I noticed the bouncer standing idly watching the entire debacle. Now, super annoyed, and with other friends across the street at a dead but preferable Dirty Bar, I quickly, and guiltily(I had come for the birthday party) made a hasty escape after only 25 minutes tops inside. Only pros: No line to get in(go figure) and no cover.

First of all… this is DC. This is not Vegas. This is not Miami. Why are you charging $ 10+ for rail cocktails? Second. and this is a big one. KEEPYOURRECEIPT! This place automatically adds gratuity.(Not sure why. Service sucks. Drinks suck. Get over yourselves). Not only that, but if you don’t tip ONTOP of the automatic gratuity, they will add it on anyways even though that’s not the amount you signed for. I realized this after checking my bank account the next day and realizing they decided to help themselves and charge me more. It’s not like I was drunk. I was completely sober and buying drinks for friends. That bullshit may work on other idiots, but not me. Also, they charged us an extra $ 20 at the door because of the shoes someone in our party was wearing even though there were people in the place in ratchet ass clothes and shoes. Oh and a random person in a bunny suit walking around? Wtf is that? The only two good things… they had a really good DJ and the girl dancing on the pole all night was amazingly good. This place left a baaaaaad taste in my mouth. They definitely make up for not having a cover by overcharging people for drinks. Overall. this place tries to be upscale but fails. It’s a pretty mixed crowd. Mostly young people in their early 20’s. No cover. Expensive drinks.(I wouldn’t even open my wallet, but if you have to. pay with CASH). Make sure you pregame. The DJs and dancers are good. That’s about it.

Been here a couple of times and I just… well not my thing at ALL. I think my friends have come here to get cheap bottle service but it’s not even worth it. I hate the music they play and not the crowd I like to party with either. I guess it is kind of a techno Miami vibe but Miami is wayyyy better. This place just seems so all over the place, it confuses me. The ONLY reason I gave it 2 stars is because I think the very tall stripper pole. The first night I went they had a girl on there for a long time, the 2nd time she was on there for 5 mins, left and never came back. How much did she get paid to do that? The drinks are crap, didn’t taste any alcohol and RIDICULOUSLY expensive. People tend to come in, buy a drink, finish and move on to the next place. I would never come here on my own will.

Party in the city where the heat is on, All night on the beach till the break of dawn — Welcome to Miami(bienvenido a Miami) So you want to visit the real Miami scene well stop on over to M.I.A. aka Missing in Action. You will be paying top dollar for mix drinks that are not specially made. You won’t find celebrities inside but the line outside will make you feel like somebody inside is important. Once inside enjoy the scenes, pole dancers, neon lights, oh and did I mention NOCOVER. The DJ was decent, played hip-hop and house. The crowd is mostly 20 — 26 year olds. For every female there is about 4 guys so, yea I did not stay too long. Unsure if I would check it out again as there are other places around that are better.

I do not like this place. I have only been here on a Wednesday. I think there are better places to go here than Wednesday such as Josephines or Eden. I like the staff, they’re really nice. I think the music is ok(mostly hip hop), so this is probably why I wouldn’t particularly want to come here.

I went to MIA one Wednesday night because my friend was depressed and wanted to get out of the house. The crowd wasn’t really all of that, but I am positive that this is because only the thirstiest of the thirsty people in this world opt to go clubbing on Wednesday night… but I digress. Some friends of mine were hosting the party there that night, so I didn’t have to pay for drinks or anything and can’t comment on the pricing because of it. I also was sitting at their table and I was rather intoxicated so I suppose I can’t really comment on anything except for these few things that I am certain of: –Girls with no talent put the dancing skills they do not possess on display all night from lighted platforms located above the crowd –There was a big ass rabbit walking around trying to dance up on people(a big dress up rabbit like theme park characters and mascots with the big heads and eyes that don’t move) … it was really creepy. They call him the MIA Bunny. Even while drunk and giggly, I hated him. –I’m not going back here. I give the place two stars because I’ve been to worse places, and at least I had fun. I’d never go here again, though.

I remember walking by here one night with some friends when this place first opened and the guys at the front door were literally begging us to go in and check it out. I’ve never actually had this happen to me before, especially considering we were all guys and not girls. Upon walking in, the place reminds me of a really cheesy 80’s TV show called Miami Vice. Or if you don’t know what that is, its like running around Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Music, typical fare of top 40 and house mashups. I think the type of people here though is worse, as stated mostly. Also included is your typical overpriced drinks, pole dancers, flashing strobe lights, and lots of dudes included. Nothing wrong with that if that is your thing. However, not for me.

Ive been to M.I.A twice now and wanted to wait until my 2nd visit before I gave it this review. Lets start with the positive. The club is beautifully decorated. It is very Miami-esque with neon lights, white furniture, no cover and an upscale vibe. There is a good mix of people, however a bit on the younger side(definitely an early 20’s type crowd). As for the negatives I’m sad to say there are many. The club opens at 10, but typically is COMPLETELY dead until 11:30 which is really late for a DC club. The drinks are RIDICULOUSLY expensive and cost more then many of the other local area clubs. I’m talking 15 dollars for a typical mixed drink. When the club finally gets crowded… they let WAY to many people in for such a small place. I was practically squished to death walking thought the crowd just trying to get outta the place. Rather then go to this place, you may want to consider putting a disco light, a bottle of vodka, an ipod and 10 people into your bedroom closet… it would likley be the same experience.

Surprised at the number negative reviews here: P I don’t get the people who go somewhere and expect the place to provide all the entertainment — maybe your friends are boring? maybe you’re boring? jussayin! And where in DC are there NOT any douchey guys? Comes with nightlife territory! Went out with my GF on a Friday night(fridays are wack in DC) but we had a lot of fun. Décor is kinda odd but I like the white interior, looks clean and modern and you can actually see where you’re going. There is some heavy emphasis on the strobe lights but they can tone that down no problem. It’s a very small space but they’ve done a good job with very little. DJ was excellent! Great hip-hop and house… i was in shock it wasn’t all Top 40. Rare to get good music in DC period much less both hip hop and house. No cover is a major plus, no lists or promoters to worry about. Pole dancers and regular dancers were amazing. Bartenders are really friendly, strong drinks and they keep a clean bar. Drinks are on the pricey side but worth the speed of service. Definitely would stop by again :)

Why so sexual M.I.A. lounge? Lips all over the walls, naked headless statues glued up to each side of the bar? Do you have daddy issues? You are a beautiful establishment and do not need to try so hard to get attention. Actually, maybe you do. This place used to be Sesto Senso, then Lupe Cantina and now M.I.A., maybe all in a span of 5 years. Is this property cursed? Maybe this is just the gimmick they need to attract the crowd that used to frequent places like 1223 and Fly. Besides the décor… I really liked the bar staff, extremely attentive! They all seemed excited about working there and promised me they’re going to make sure M.I.A. stays around for a while. I was only there during happy hour, for which they had 4 dollar beers and 5 dollar rails, but I can’t say I had any complaints. I think if they manage to pull a good DJ here on the weekends this could be a nice alternative to the other ‘lounges’ in that area. Mandana approves!
