Decent, I had a good time. But I wouldn’t make this my #1 spot in DC. I would however, go again.

This is definitely NOT the spot. Same story as some of the other people. We were gong to go to Public, but we lured in with the promise of buy one get one, Thought we could squeeze a couple in before Public. Anyhow, go down into the dungeon, it smells like vomit & the bartender kept walking back and forth past us & no one else was at the bar. I guess she didn’t feel like working. After we could no longer stand the vomit stench & the bartender ignoring us we left. This place is a disgusting waste of time. Don’t even bother. Lame.

So I don’t hate. But this place was disappointing on all levels. My friends and I were heading over to Public, when we got stopped by a bunch of guys trying to lure us into this place. They told us, No Cover, and Buy One get one Free drink specials. I had to confirm… you sure it’s no cover? and drinks really are buy one get one? ‘Yes’ they assured me. Well alright then! Let’s get smashed here before heading over to Public! Inside, all I remember was that it was bright white everywhere with colorful lights. It was pretty cool looking actually, but it was empty. And remember how guys outside were luring me into this place? It made sense, because there were clearly not enough girls in the place, and all the girls there were totes not interested in the dudes there. I get my buy one get one free drink, which are 2 half-sized cups of cranberry-vodka for $ 9. I just came from the Mighty Pint where they gave me a mighty pint of cranberry vodka for the same price. Buy one get one my ass! So I did what any sane semi-clear thinking person would do. I left. sorry spot!

On a Saturday night, we were on our way to Public. A doorman asks if we want to come in — offered a ticket for a buy one get drink 50%. Sure why not? We enter downstairs — it looks like it could be a cute, small lounge. The DJ was okay. We get our drinks — the bartender was nice, but she said the drinks were $ 9, but then charged me $ 10? Er. Ok? The crowd was very mixed, seemed like a bunch of other people who had come in for the drink special was well. After another 20 minutes, that crowd left. What was left was a bunch of young, creepy guys. Having them come up, or in passing, stick their face in my face — yea no thanks. i would choose staying at Continental in St. Marks(NYC) all night then to have to come back here. Hopefully my experience isn’t a typical night!

Well, we stumbled upon«Spot Lounge» on a Thursday night. It’s basically a dark basement with some Christmas lights. The DJ was kind of all over the place with no cohesive set. Crowd was a little strange, I witnessed a lot of big girls with very short dresses dancing on cement poles O_O…Hey nothing wrong with that as long as you’re having fun! Meh, I guess I shouldn’t complain, there was no cover and I came with some good friends.

You know in movies when people walk into a bar that they’re clearly not supposed to walk into and the music instantly screeches to a halt and everyone turns and stares at the folks who just walked in as if to say«What the F is their kind doing here?» Well if you’re a cracker and you want to feel really uncomfortable then WELCOMETOTHESPOT! May 1, 2011 — A day that will live awesomely. The Caps had just lost a playoff game and me and about 4 other people were pretty hammered at Front Page Arlington, drowning our sorrows and listening to ‘The End of the Road’ by Boyz II Men when all the sudden the music stops and the audio switches to the TV where the President has just announced the killing of Osama Bin D! ckbag. Upon seeing the images of people celebrating outside the White House we all decided to jump in a cab and go be American as hell. We get down there and celebrate glory for a good bit then decide to head to a bar in Dupont. Enter The Spot. We were trying to go in the place next door to the Spot but being retarded I led everyone in the wrong door and that’s when the hip hop came to a halt and everyone turned and in unison said«What they’re kind be doin here?» Feeling really uncomfortable my wife Stephanie took charge and said«Let’s do some shots!» We made our way to the bar, feeling the curious stares of the crowd, and proceeded to get even more drunk. Nobody there had any idea Bin Laden was dead until I announced it to the guy next to me and immediately he says«All cause we put a black man in office.» Yes! Let’s cheapen this awesome day but getting racial. What a tool that guy was. We went on to shut the place down, on a Sunday night, which was smart since I had an interview at 10am on Monday(I did not get that job). I know based on my review it makes no sense for me to give this 5 stars but hot damn if I didn’t have a great, albeit uncomfortable as hell, time. My favorite part of the night was the cab ride home. I got dropped off first and, with 3 of my friends in the car still needing to be dropped at their place, I turned to the cab driver and said«Sorry for your loss,» hopped out, and stumbled inside.

Hmm. this is a slightly biased review, since I have a feeling that my experience there is completely not typical. However, what can review except my own experience, right? So, story goes, large bunch of Asians coming from a long day of conferencing are trying to find a club somewhere to destress and drink/dance the night away. Finally, after much tiring walking and public transporting they arrive at Spot, a bar that is completely devoid of any people inside. So they completely take it over. And it is awesome. Drinks were relatively reasonably priced(compared to NY prices), music was hoppin, random freestyling rappers were somewhat odd but entertaining, the DJ couldn’t remember the full name of the group so kept doing shoutouts to the«Asian Association»…a good time was had by all. I have no idea if it’d normally be like this, but it definitely was awesome when we went. Only slightly annoying thing was that some brand of coconut water was pimping their product, so they kept giving us their water(which tasted nasty) and taking pictures of us.

Went here a friday night with my girlfriends after a few drinks at public bar next door. I enjoyed the music here, all kinds of hip hop new and old school as well as some good techno. Some weird dudes but just nicely say your not interested and that’s that. The crowd was cool and I enjoyed not having to wait in line or pay to get in. Next time i go ill just make it me and the boyfriend.

Well hello Wed night OPEN bar from 10pm-11pm! We missed it by a few minutes but we def enjoyed their drink specials of only $ 5! In DC thats pretty much free! The place wasn’t overly crowded which I like. The music was excellent. They had a lot of throw back hip hop songs and then as the night continued they played more current radio hits, which I’m a huge fan of. We danced, we drank, and had a good time. The lights are pretty busy but It’s a club not a library. So there should be some light action going on ! Its a real different in a good way though from the other places on the same street. If you really want to dance and drink(for really cheap) hit this place on a Wed night. The place started picking up around 11:30−12ish. But its pretty low key before hand. OH and there’s no cover! Ill def return.

We followed the beckoning calls of a promoter(or manager?) standing at the front on a Saturday night. Having seen this kind of desperation at Miami clubs, I should have known better. The place was absolutely dead. If it wasn’t for the music, I would have just thought it was someone’s basement – someone with a grand liquor cabinet. The décor and neon lights were very kitschy and, again, reminded me of Miami bars. The music wasn’t bad; the place needs to figure out how to stand out and draw a larger crowd.

Let me just start off by saying this review is for Sunday night. We wanted to end our friend’s birthday weekend with a lounge but we were kind of scared because of the previous reviews. We got there around 11, ladies were free all night with the text. We got there really early but there were a few people there. We got our free drinK ticket, although the text said free drinkS until midnight. We did not have the same experience with the bar as some of the other reviewers. Our FREE drinks were nice and strong. There is no minimum charge for credit cards btw. DJ Anonymous djs on Sundays and he is just bomb anyway. A lot of hip hop and r&b mixed with some other music, at least this night. Yes, it was a basement club, but it was not run down at all. It did not get ridiculously packed, hot or sweaty. It was the live party without the packed club. We had a great time, but we’re also in our early 20s.

I joined Unilocal JUST to give this place a bad review. Keep in mind, I am normally a sunny-side-up kinda gal, but I know Unilocalers are hungry for the truth, and believe me, this place’s ugly side needs to be exposed. Soooo I gathered about 10 people and our plan was to go to 18th St Lounge, but the $ 10 cover deterred a few. Off to stand in line for Public Bar we went. But on the way, we were stopped by «Naz», a promo guy/manager at the Spot, who offered us all to get in free there. It was freezing outside, so we jumped on it. After walking down to the small basement/club(that probably looks like a dungeon if you turned the lights on), we knew it wasn’t our scene, but laughed it off, started dancing. Here’s the WORST part about this place: they make up prices for your drinks. and they are ABSURDLY high. AND they price drinks differently for girls and guys! WTF?! Who does this? I have never seen this before. My guy friends were charged $ 5.50 for a Miller Light and I was charged $ 7. SEVENDOLLARSFOR A MILLERLIGHT. This is not okay in the first place but after I found out I was charged a higher price by the female-only bartenders, I was a little peeved. My other girl friend was charged $ 6.50 for a miller light. My other friends were charged various(very high) prices between $ 9-$ 13 for cocktails like jack & coke and long island. So…next time you are freezing your hiney off and a sketchy voice tries to woo you into the SPOT while you’re walking by, be strong and WALKONBY. There’s a reason why they have to lure in passersby and dont’ charge a cover. Luckily we still had fun because my friends made the best of it, but this place is sketch and I would recommend avoiding at all costs. At the end of the night, I lit into the manager, who I think thought I was hitting on him, while I was bitching about his unfair pricing policies and overall shadiness(oh, I forgot to mention that I found him going through my wallet at the bar, and this is how we struck up a conversation.)

$ 10 for a watery red headed slut? $ 7 for a Heineken? Bitch, please. Who do you think you are? There’s a reason why you were almost empty on a Saturday night Get over yourself.

Been to the Spot Lounge twice and both time was pretty cool. The crowd seemed to always be pretty amped there was a fight both nights, kudos to the security there they got them out of the club quick. The Lounge is small but nice and the rest rooms are very clean not really sure what that other person was talking about. I will deff make my way back on a Sunday night.

None of my friends really liked Andalu back in the day, but for some reason we would still always end up there. I personally can find the charm in a dark basement party. Just not really when there are shady shadesters lurking in the corners. Sure, they aren’t necessarily gonna do anything, but it can make a young lady feel a little uncomfortable. The only real difference in the layout since Andalu closed and reopened as Spot Lounge, is that the interior is slightly different. And by different, I mean they just added florescent lights on the sides. Other than that, it’s hot and the crowd is random. The good news is that there is rarely a cover here. That means is the places around you have long, crazy lines and you just want to grab a drink, the bar is a quick walk down the stairs. At your own risk.

Worst SPOT ever!!!(no pun intended)… We had the worst experienced at this lounge. My friend spent over 700 on a table just for all of us to get kicked out because they have idiot bouncers!!! totally ruined my friend’s special night!

I went out one night this summer while studying for the bar How I ended up here, I can’t really recall Like the drinks, the crowd was weak A man so drunk he didn’t close the door as he took a leak The blue lights and décor was pretty wack If I had paid cover, I’d demand my money back Like Stella, I could be persuaded to see if the Spot has got back its groove But the DJ would have to play my song as requested, so I could bust a move

Shitty Place Offering Trashiness I couldn’t think of a good T. When I think of Spot I shudder. That place is probably the nastiest«lounge» I’ve ever been too. Has a long bar and couches on the side that go the same length, but really it HAS to go lengthwise cause the place is so narrow. Walk down a flight of steps and then get smacked in the face with the smell of mildew basement that has been covered up by some Lysol and horrendous cologne. I felt myself getting sick just breathing in the musky dirty air. Tall guys, just don’t come here cause you’ll be ducking to avoid the low ceilings and uncovered pipes. Wouldn’t recommend going to the VIP section**, cause there’s a vent that shoots out air probably being recycled from the nearby Metro station. The unfinished ceiling that looks like the tile work fell off, is not a cool look. Also watch for the bugs that crawl down the wall by the«cool» blue lights. A $ 5 cover got us 30 mins(how we lasted that long I don’t know) of a whack mixed crowd, by mixed I mean 20-somethings and GRANDPAS. And the whole«DC Fashion Week»(HA! this ain’t no NYC, stop playing around). I like people watching, so I think that is the ONLY thing that allowed me to survive my time there. My observations: grandpas with young girls, gay couples, really drunken white dancing, bug crawling down wall and last but definitely not least, a big girl giving a big guy a lap dance. ** don’t get too close to the bouncer he may try to smell your hair as you squeeze by… yeah.

Looks like Dupont — feels like Adams Morgan. The décor is nice but the crowd feels like Tom Tom’s…on a Saturday night… during the summer. Which is cool… if I was in the mood for Tom Tom’s on a Saturday night during the summer. We all have our Jäger shots nights, but there is a time and a PLACE(Eg: Tom Tom’s on a Saturday night during the summer).

The Spot, like its neighbor Fly, is occasionally promoted by Jamie Hess. Do yourself a favor, go on a night this guy is promoting. If you’ve ever gone to Fly’s «Fly Private» on Friday’s, you’ll know you’re getting a terrific mix of young professionals and great mash-up music. I’ll miss Andalu, but the Spot is definitely a great replacement.
