Ok your basic Carryout! Never ask for delivery it will not come until after you have called them 5 times. Great wings. Great DC sauce which is called mumbo sauce. Never ordered anything else here to say anymore.

The food wasn’t bad for a very sketch looking chinese takeout place. We had the crispy orange beef and the Tso’s chicken. Both were pretty good. The Cream cheese wontons were awesome. Just don’t order the fried rice. It’s literally not even fried rice and you will be disappointed. It’s more like just yellow rice with a few tiny pieces of veggies in it. No eggs and it doesn’t look or taste fried. For everyone else’s convenience(because i wish it was available to me when I ordered) — I’m also adding photos of the menu onto this review page since they don’t have a website or online menu which makes it impossible to order food unless you’re physically there or you have a physical carry-out menu in-hand.

Today, the Wanton Soup and Lo Mein were excellent. The wanton’s in the soup tasted homemade. Delivery was also much faster than in the past. I had not ordered from Mandarin Carry-Out in several months but today I was craving Lo Mein. In the past, the food has been acceptable. I don’t know if today’s order was a one off or permanent change, but I will defiantly order again. UPDATE My next order was back to acceptable.

I love this place. I have ordered it 5 times in the last month. I had sworn off«carry-outs» for a while after a pretty bad experience. I took a chance and ordered Mandarin after finding a menu in my mail box… JACKPOT! Everything I have ordered it good.

Horrible… Had my food delivered to my hotel and it took WAY longer than they said. When it arrived the sauces and liquids from the BBQ spare ribs had leaked all inside the bag covering everything. Ordered pork fried rice and got shrimp fried rice. How they managed that I will never guess. Would not order from here again if in the D.C. Area. Sorry guys, but you need to improve your service.

So happy to discover this place! :-) General Tso’s tofu is the best! Mm I think I’ll come here a lot. PS it’s VERY sketchy looking, which I like.

Hands down the best Chinese place on the hill. I’ve ordered a variety of things from here and they always arrive hot and tasty. If you want Chinese on Capitol Hill, get from Mandarin.

Ok, so now the spring rolls are less greasy and General Tso’s Shrimp has been consistent and is totally worth it! But I’m still scared to try other Chinese options.

Update, this used to be the best place on the Hill for delivery. Not anymore! Under new ownership or something. Ordered last night. Was not very good. More like, it was very bad. This is depressing for me to write, because I used to love this place. Oh well, I guess it’s back to Young Chow.

If I could give this zero stars, I would. I’m also pretty snobby when it comes to Asian food, having lived in SF for years and living with my Asian bf… but this is terrible. We’ve tried it twice now because it’s so close but everything about it a let down. Though you should know it wont’ be good by the sign that reads chinese food, subs, seafood. The potstickers/dumplings are ok, at best. We’ve also had the hot and sour soup which tasted nothing like hot and sour soup and a few other chinese dishes that were inedible. I tried a little bit of everything and then left the rest for my bf to eat(he hates wasting food). I also tried one of the subs just to see if that was any good but that was an even bigger mistake. The steak and cheese barely had any cheese and the bbq sauce tasted tart, in an unpleasant way. I don’t think it’s worth the convenience of delivery. Go eat something else instead.

I’m pretty snobby when it comes to Asian food… because I’m Asian, but this place is great. They’re the best Chinese carry-out place I’ve ever been to. If you’re vegetarian, this is the place for you. They know how to properly cook tofu. I get so pissed when I go to places that serve me soggy tofu. Their tofu dishes are perfectly crunchy and still moist and dripping in sauce. I WISH this place existed in Miami. Also, don’t let the appearance of this place fool you. My friend who lives down the street was laughing when he sent me there without an explanation. Had he not guaranteed that it was good food, I probably would have walked out. This place has hot pink walls and bullet proof glass in front of the counter.

Solid Chinese food– tasty enough, not extravagant by any means, but reliably average Chinese delivery/carry-out restaurant. Don’t go out of your way, but don’t be afraid to try it if you’re in the neighborhood. I’ve been calling them happily for years on lazy, «I want Chinese delivery» days, and will continue to do so.
