It was closed today when I went at lunch. Looks like either for renovation or permanently, can’t tell. Too bad, it was good.

Met Café has been my favorite lunch place for years. There is sushi by the pound as well as hot Chinese and Italian, and cold dishes like salad, fresh fruit, crab salad, noodle salads by the pound and ALSO a deli window and a huge variety of(non-alcoholic) drinks as well as some simple desserts and packaged candy and chocolates. The price might be high for a pound of fruit or noodles, but I get my fill of sushi for just $ 10. There is plenty of room to dine in but I usually take it to go. Sadly, an employee there said they will be closing the week of 11/02/2015.

The cooks behind the counter have always been friendly and I have never received an incorrect order. I only go for lunch and the prices for a breakfast sandwich cannot be beat. I really like going here, but won’t be in ever again due to an extremely rude and off putting cashier experience.

Good for a quick lunch. They no longer have the Bento Box option.

Ok so I work in the area and my coworker swears by this place and she warned me that it would be a bit pricey. I walked in and couldn’t believe the large selection available. The fruit was beautiful and the roasted turkey was so tender it was hard to even plate! Super delicious

I go to this place at least 3 times a week for either breakfast or lunch. i always get the same thing for breakfast(sausage, egg and chesse croissant). The prices are amazing. For lunch I love there sushi, chicken pad thai, turkey burger and lamb gyro. They are close to my job and they service is always good.

I went there for lunch when I visited the GSA central office. I did the ‘wight by pound’, and got sick after the lunch. Something was not fresh or poisonous.

convenient place to grab lunch if you’re playing tourist in dc or a 9 – 5 laborer in the nation’s capital! hubby and i were playing tourist and mom was on her lunch break and brought us here since it’s just around the corner from her office. this was a good choice as the 3 of us could choose whatever we wanted, be it a sandwich, sushi rolls, soup, or asian-inspired dishes at the hot and cold buffet counter. hubby ordered a steak sandwich for about $ 6, which was a great deal, since he had a nice size sandwich which was generously filled, with a side of fries. he ate every bite and it kept him full throughout an afternoon of walking and climbing stairs! mom and i went with the hot and cold buffet, which totaled about $ 15 for the 2 of us. i can’t remember the price per pound, but the buffet is not cheap, which is to be expected for downtown d.c. i picked some grilled veggies, korean noodles, seasoned fish, grilled chicken, and some fruit. the amount of food was not a lot for the price, and the quality was just average. i do wish the hot buffet items were warmer when i sat down to eat. while not the cream of the crop, this is certainly a convenient place to grab a quick lunch and not have to wait in too long of a line to order(or scoop) your food and pay the cashier.

The food was cold, old, and terribly overpriced. Never going back to this one! Giving even a 1-star rating was too high.

Korean owned. Food by the pound: regular chinese and sushi bar. There’s an over the counter place where you can order sandwiches, noodles, and other dishes. I ordered a singapore rice noodle once and it scared me for life. It was so soggy and disgusting, I was afraid to come here for months. I gave it another try and their sandwiches are decent. Try to get the korean dishes like jap chae and bulgogi, they’re very good. Everything else is questionable.

Food poisoning. I ate food from their hot bar for two years. Basic stuff– char grilled chicken and vegetables. Had terrible diarrhea often during this time. I stopped going there for a year. Tuesday I went back. I’ve had terrible diarrhea and nausea since. Today it’s so bad I staying home from work. I’m not a complainer but feel like I should report them to the health department.

Tuesdays are my favorite days at Met Café: Corned Beef Tuesdays. They also have a big variety of Chinese food and sushi in their buffet. Good sandwiches. Great place for lunch.

This is one of my favorite eating spots for lunch. The buffet has a huge selection and the sandwiches are good too. Breakfast danishes used to be better but there is still a big selection. Prices are in the usual DC-inflated realm. The restaurant appears well taken care of and spotless. The staff is friendly and respectful. I wish they hadn’t eliminated the 10% discount for 1700 G Street workers. Now, the discount is for janitors and other workers; I presume that means the suits are out of luck. I’m a suit but my mother forced me into it. You see Ma, I could have had a 10% break.

Tough place to eat. Their food sits heavy for some reason. And the prices are pretty high. The sandwiches seem to work the best for my stomach I have not tried their sushi.

First visit– got a sandwich… it was big enough for 2 ppl, cost less than $ 6 and had quality turkey & ham. 2nd visit had the bimbimbap — very delish and HUGE portion. I work near L’enfant and we can’t get anything like that for the price.

The is my «go to» lunch spot and it took me 6 months to try it. The place have great prices on really good sandwiches and breakfast. The buffet food is actually good, but can be expensive. The sushi is great for its price and okay in terms of quality. They also have fried rice, noodles, salads, and korean food. I highly recommend this place to anyone working in the area.

It seems that whatever I order here the price with drink is $ 12? I had sushi for lunch the other day. It was pretty good, except the portions were a little on the large size – everything is charged by weight. The location is what is great here. The miso soup is of good quality which is more than I can say for the chicken noodle soup.

Good if you are in a hurry and want a huge selection of mediocre but palatable food. I work about 2 blocks from this place and pop in about once a month when I am feeling particularly lazy. As others have noted, this place can get expensive quickly since it is a weigh and pay. I have actually seen people walk-out without their food when they saw the price at the register. You can opt for a sandwich from the grill if you want to be sure of the price of your lunch. Mediocre sushi is also available but as part of the«weigh and pay» scheme. I’ve found that often the food on the buffet line is barely warm. There are better places in the area. I would recommend going one block up to the Uncommon Café if you want slightly less variety but much better food.
