The worse dining experience ever in D.C., it is a shame that we chose this as a meeting/dinner place for a mini sister reunion. The waitress is MIA; someone comes periodically to «drop» things off without even a word. Never again.

I missed the restaurant and dined in the lounge. The ambiance was nice but it definitely had a worn in feel. It was cozy. I wasn’t super hungry and ordered wings and fries. They were great. I like how effective the first server was and the service was quick. I was expecting something a little different in terms of menu variety but my friend, who ordered a salmon with lemon butter dish, said the food was amazing. Sometimes I guess less is more.

Great brunch on Sundays. My family enjoys coming here for the brunch. I feel that they have a good variety of foods. The bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary’s also helps. We’ve been here 3 times and never disappointed. The shrimp and grits get me every time. We will definitely be returning to this fine establishment.

I HAVEISSUES! I booked a t able of 4 for Thanksgiving Dinner. Being away from home, I thought a few of the Thanksgiving orphans should get together for dinner. When we got there, we entered from what would have been the normal restaurant entrance, but there was no hostess. We hung around for a little while, and there were waiters and waitress who saw us but no one come round to ask us any thing. Finally I ran out of patience and went over to the service station. One waitress said oh the hostess is out there, and she was polite and took us to the hostess who happens to be at the lobby of the hotel. We were then led to the banquet room which has no windows or view what so ever. I also noted that there were empty table in the restaurant, and for whatever reason we were not given the table I do not know. Once we sat down, we waited for ages to have any one to come and take the order of our drinks, we waived like the Royals at its subject(basically non stop and smile!) Finally one guy took notice of us, the manager noticed us too at the other end of the room, but only nodded at us and put up his hand to gesture one minute!!! The waiter took our order but got it wrong, and we were complimented with extra wine. When I made the booking the Thanksgiving menu on the internet indicated that there were cheese plate for dessert, there was none. The turkey and ham main course was actually good, and the sous chef or whoever at the station was amicable. The pumpkin pies and pecan pies was really so so, the fillings was good, but the pastry is like store bought pie. The dough is dense and heavy. I have slightly higher expectation for the food. Having read good review about the F & B here(except the bar), in particular about Chef Luca De Marchis, what would his Italian grandma says about pastry like that!!! Not happy is the bottom line.

So my family and I ventured over from a nearby hotel for Thanksgiving dinner. We were warmly greeted and seated, I really had high hopes for the evening. Unfortunately that was the highlight. To start, our waiter was prompt worn the initial water and taking of drink orders– after he left my 15 year old son went to take a sip of his water and found a spider in his glass– when our waiter came back he removed the glass and placed our drinks in front of us– so. I had ordered an Angry Orchard bottle from the list and he brought be bourbon on the rocks and it took two more times and two different drinks to get what I ordered, I had to point it out to him again– he was very apologetic and sweet. That was the last we saw of him fro the evening. To be fair it was really really busy. The buffet was just ok– most of the items were lukewarm at best, perhaps if we were there earlier it would have been better– the meat was try. Sweet Potatoes were great, everything else was just ok. At the end of the evening the manager came over and apologized for the spider and took my sons meAl off the bill(completely unexpected and appreciated) and was very kind. I just was a little let down on the food and drink, for almost $ 50 a head, I had expected a little more.

I stayed in their adjoining hotel for Thanksgiving holiday and so happy to have stumbled also on their restaurant. We were originally planning to have Thanksgiving dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, however, when we actually ventured to the location, we decided against eating there and back tracked back here. For Thanksgiving, this restaurant was offering a buffet style meal all for one easy price of $ 45. We didn’t have a reservation for a 3pm seating, but they accommodated us easily. I would though recommend you make a reservation as the dining room started to fill up after 5pm. They had lots on offer for meat and veggie eaters, which worked for my party. They had turkey and ham available, all the popular holiday sides including green beans, sweet yams, root medley, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, two kinds of stuffing, etc. Soup was on offer including cheeses, dried fruits, smoked salmon, salad, olives. They also had a nice selection of desserts including chocolate cake, cheesecake, mini pecan/sweet potato/apple pies. Overall, a great experience without the hassles of cooking. I would recommend this place again to those interested in a holiday meal but don’t want to do all the work. No Ten Thomas does all the work for you, all you have to do is show up with a hungry appetite and it is reasonably priced. I would definitely consider this place again for holiday meals.

Dinner was fabulous. I don’t know why people aren’t lining up to come here. The papardelle pasta was fantastic I wish i could get it around NJ. It was light and fresh and cooked to order. I would go here again. I went here before the marine corps marathon and it fueled me up right without having to wait for a table.

I love the Washington Plaza Hotel at Thomas Circle. Most recently, I decided to come here for Mother’s Day brunch with my family. I wanted to try something different. I’m so glad I made an reservation in advance! When we arrived for our reservation at 1:30 pm, the entire lobby was packed with people waiting to be seated(I assume they didn’t have a reservation). We were promptly seated by the hostess. Although it was a beautiful day outside, we chose to sit indoors, which I much preferred for people watching(**grin**). The brunch was $ 40/per person and included an extensive buffet selection as well as endless mimosas and bloody Mary’s. My favorites from the buffet included: — salmon over creamed corn — the omelet station — the crispy bacon(duh) — the arugula salad — the shrimp and grits(!!!) — the dessert selection(red velvet cupcakes, tiramisu, and chocolate mousse cake) The service was touch and go. It was good overall, but the wait staff was a bit overwhelmed and not as responsive given the amount of people, which is totally understandable. Overall, I enjoyed my dining experience.

We came for Brunch on Sunday what a great selection of food. We started with the unlimited Mimosas and champagne then went to the buffet. Made to order eggs, some bacon add a little fried chicken and waffles that’s a good start. Round 2 Shrimp and grits, spicy meatballs and Bloody Mary. Finished off with just a little dessert and a glass of champagne. Basically great food great drink and great service, cant beat the price $ 34.95

Brunch was excellent. The buffet was a full spread and an omelet station. The best part were the endless mimosas. Everyone had a great time and the service was stellar. The restaurant manager was very courteous and friendly. This will be one of our regular Sunday brunch places from now on.

I came here for Sunday brunch(with unlimited mimosas), and it was alright. I agreed to eat here because of the unlimited mimosa deal, but the mimosas tasted like it was just orange juice. I’m not hard to please, but the food was a bit«fancy» for me. They had a carving station with Chicken Cordon Bleu, Pork Belly, Rib Eye and some other meat. The only one worth coming back to was the Pork Belly, the other meats were a bit dry. They also had an Omelette Station, which I didn’t try. One thing worth mentioning is that I LOOOVED their fruit salad, the pieces were cut fairly small and they had a good combination of melons, berries and apples. Their Spinach and Crab dip and chips were DELICIOUS. They also had a dessert bar, which overall was pretty good. Although the«Crêpe» station was a bit disappointing, the crepes were premade and warmed up to serve. Their Chocolate Mousse and Crème Brulee were super yummy though :) They had waiters coming around with mini pancakes and Eggs Benedict, although not very frequently. Overall, I’m not sure if I’d come back… I think it was around $ 40 per person, so unless someone REALLY wanted to go back here, I MIGHT consider it. I’m happy I got to try it though.

Hotel bars are nearly always terrible. Maybe that says something about my choice of hotel. I don’t know. At any rated, I was ready to be doling out more stars than i expected because the menu looked decent and the bartended was really friendly when I stopped by last night with some co-workers for a late-night bite. I started with a Blackberry Mint Julep(Jim Beam, fresh mint, blackberries, and black tea syrup). Would’ve really enjoyed it except it was too sweet for me. I was willing to be okay with it, but it was all downhill from there. Had the worst dirty martini of my life(off their specials menu, the«Dirty Thomas»…served over ice). Tasted like it was 30% olive juice. The wings were a highlight. Green lentils, not so much. I was excited about them, and they would’ve been tasty, except they were about 150% too salty. The worst part though, was the manager… didn’t catch her name, but a blonde. She came down and was harrasing the two people working the bar and was completely demeaning and patronizing. It was terrible. I was embarrased for her – first of all, that she’s a grownup and thinks it’s acceptable to act that way, and second, that she was doing it in front of guests. I think she was trying to make them look bad? She succeeded only in making herself look like a miserable, miserable person. I feel bad for the people who have to work under her. Hire better people, Washington Plaza… espcially the ones who get to tell people what to do.

Typicall hotel diner food. Not impressed or diapponted. Don’t expect 4 star dining. Food somewhat bland. Had crab cake sandwich and fries. Crab cake could have been cooked a little more so that way when u bit into it it would keep its form. I also tried breakfast u can’t really mess up breakfast. one egg, one order of bacon and a english muffins. Nothing more after that I have insisted we go out and try othee things near the hotel

My husband and I went here twice, both times out of sheer convenience, and for breakfast only. The first time we went we ordered off the al la carte menu. I got a glass of tomato juice, a tea, the French toast, and a side of bacon. He got OJ, coffee, two eggs, toast, bacon, and sausage. The total bill was $ 44.00. The food was mediocre. We definitely overpaid. The second time we ordered the«continental» buffet, which was $ 13.00 per person and consisted of bagels, croissants, fruits, smoked salmon, some deli meats, and a few types of cheese. Bacon and all of the hot foods were only available in the«extravagant» buffet. The bagels were very dense and the toasters sucked. At least the second time we didn’t really feel so ripped off, but overall the place was just not great. The waitstaff was very, very nice, but the clientele was so f’ing rude!!! Both days we were surrounded with uppity and annoying complainers who did nothing but talk down to the staff. Go somewhere else and avoid the annoying customers while also getting better quality food for a more reasonable price. Oh, and PS, we grabbed one glass of wine to take to our room one night and it was over $ 14.00! What a robbery.

I joined Ten Thomas today for their Thanksgiving Buffet and it was a wonderful experience. Great food, great service, and a staff of restaurant personnel that was so friendly and willing to help their servers in any way that they could. The food was absolutely top knotch with loads of appetizers, wonderful ham and turkey, stuffing, mashed, mac ‘n cheese, sweet potato yams, wonderful desserts, salads, coffee, wine, apple cider and much more. All for a reasonable price. I will be going their again and again. Can’t wait until next Thanksgiving.

Hotel restaurants can be all over the map. When you have a ‘captive audience’ of the guests in the hotel, more often than not, you’re in for a dining experience that’s lackluster at best. Every now and again you get a real gem with a top-drawer chef(the Fairmont in Chicago, with it’s Aria restaurant and the delightful Beverly Kim come to mind), but for the most part, the guys running hotel restaurants are pretty much the kitchen equivalent of Henry V’s «warriors of the working day». Happily, Ten Thomas at the Washington Plaza hotel is a cut above. The tired new arrival in town doesn’t have to settle for culinary ‘also-rans’ because they’re too tired to find some really special eats. I’m sorry previous reviewer Jeremy M. had a bad experience, but I’m afraid I saw none of the poor service he reported. Perhaps they took his review as a ‘teachable moment’? I was warmly greeted and seated at a bright table overlooking the pool. The French onion soup was not spectacular, but adequate. Particularly noteworthy was the professionalism and honesty of my server. When I asked if which of two entrees would be the better choice, she suggested the less expensive of the two(the short ribs). I accepted her suggestion, but not without a bit of trepidation. Short ribs is a cut of beef that is very sexy with foodies right now, but few restaurants are as good at preparing it as they think they are. In many Seattle restaurants, they will go on forever about their slow braising techniques, and all the exotic ingredients in their sauce, but the end result is still stringy and tough, like a cheap pot roast. And yet, just as hope springs eternal at the beginning of every Mariners season, I order short ribs, because I love to see if anyone can really turn a cheap cut of beef into gustatory gold. Happily, 10 Thomas’ short ribs were a remarkable exception: fork tender with lovely flavour, it is clear that someone in the back was bringing their ‘A’ game to the table. One area 10 Thomas seriously falls down is their bar. I wanted a nice finish for my dinner, so I asked for espresso con grappa. Sorry, no grappa. Okay, I said, how about a cup of coffee with a shot of Pernod or Pastis on the side. Nope, don’t have that either. Ouzo? Nope, sorry. Come on, people, this is frickin’ Washington DC! You’re probably steps away from the Italian, French, and Greek embassies, and you don’t stock your bar with Grappa, Pernod, or some damn Ouzo??? Really??? Normally, this would cost them a star or even two. But gosh darn it, they were trying so hard, and being so gracious about it, I have to give the stars back for graciousness of service. i settled for a little bit of warmed brandy, and was happy. Anyway, 2 stars for the bar, 4 stars for the food, 5 for the service. 4 overall. Nice job, and thank you.

The food was fine. What really made this bad was the service. My uncle is a wine lover with a heart condition that makes alcohol out of the question. Since Ten Thomas doesn’t offer any non-alcoholic wines on its menu, we brought him a bottle from local wine shop to enjoy with dinner. The restaurant manager refused to waive the corkage fee! Even though the other three of us offered to buy wine and even though the place was practically empty(one other table, maybe?), she would not budge. We threatened to leave, but finally felt too tired and gave in. Since the bottle cost $ 6.00, being asked to pay a $ 15.00 corkage fee was ridiculous! We will not be back.

I’m very surprised this restaurant doesn’t have its own page of reviews separate from the hotel. It’s definitely a hidden gem – and I was lucky enough to get introduced to it by a couple of friends.(We’re all locals and were not staying at the hotel.) The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. My friend recommended the duck confit, but I wasn’t feeling hungry enough for so much meat so I opted for the Lyonnaise salad which features a duck leg. I was very surprised to find my salad came with two legs! It was a lot of food, all sublime. The duck was fried and seasoned perfectly. I highly recommend this restaurant, whether you’re a guest at the hotel, a visitor to DC, or even a local neighbor who wants a meal at a quiet place with a nice view.
