Although I didn’t use the food for the namesake, a picnic, I did go there to grab a quick bite to eat for lunch… and I still thought the food was quite yummy. You can definitely tell that they take the time to get fresh ingredients and quality ingredients that the patrons will enjoy. I’ve been there a couple of times and each time has been nothing short of wonderful. The meat is quality Boars Head sandwich meat sliced at just the right thickness and the ingredients can be adjusted for anything from just mustard to just about anything the imagination craves. The price was just about right and who knows, maybe next time I’ll bring my basket(or bag probably) and take it with me over to DuPont Circle or the National Mall for a nice lunchtime treat.

When I worked two blocks away, I would come here about once a week to get lunch. Without fail, the Korean couple would say something to me in Korean and motion me to take a free cookie. In response, I would take a cookie, smile gratefully and nod. I don’t speak any Korean. I am Chinese-American.

After reading about Picnic on Unilocal,I had to check it out because I really like the idea of a place where you can buy food you would take on a picnic. The packed to-go meals include soups, a large selection of sandwiches, pizza, cookies and a good variety of drinks. I would really like to come here before a long road trip or something like that. Such a great idea! This place is great for people in a hurry. I wish I worked closer to here, because I would definitely come here a lot more. They have packaged boxes for both lunch and dinner.
