Sadly this store is going out of business due to a major renovation of the entire Van Ness Square. It was our only ‘home’ store and will be missed. Hopefully it may come back after all the construction but doubtful. The neighborhood is undergoing a complete change with restaurants, shopping, cafes, etc.

I visited this store last week after I placed a hold on something. they actually kept my items for a few days which was great. There was a young lady there that assisted me with my purchases and she was soo very patient! I will visit this location again!

**3.5** So I’m walking home from the Van Ness metro with my Crate & Barrel purchases and I see this on the Pier 1 window: Awesome Autumn. I take two steps past the store and then turn around and go in. I seriously lack willpower to avoid home-y stores these days. I saw clearance and sale signs everywhere. So dangerous for me. I ended up buying some plates. They were $ 3 each for the small ones and $ 4 for the matching big ones. I didn’t have a proper set of plates so I figured… what the heck? Just get ‘em. They were pretty AND cheap. A lot of things in here I feel are a bit overpriced but I am pretty damn pleased about my new plates.

Though this Pier 1 is not as big as the ones in the suburbs, I love it because I can walk here from my apartment and they always have tons of stuff on clearance. Even if you don’t live in this neighborhood, they have free parking and there usually isn’t too much of a crowd. I’ve never really shopped at Pier 1 before moving to this neighborhood. I always associated it with Kirstie Alley, and I’m not really sure I like her that much. But Pier 1 has won me over big time. Since moving to this apartment in May, I’ve bought many things from Pier 1, including a big cushion for my cats, place mats, cups, and various other household items. Well, I came home the other day and my significant other surprised me with this huge, huge full-length wooden, stand-up mirror I had been admiring. I love it so much. What a nice surprise.
