This place is essentially Subway but with pita sandwiches instead of subs. You pick your meat of which there are a variety(chicken, turkey, beef, buffalo chicken, etc). The meat is heated on a grill and stuffed in a pita pocket. You then load it up with whatever fresh veggies, cheese, and sauce you want. It’s inexpensive and relatively healthy(though that depend on what you get I guess). The service is a bit slow compared to Potbelly’s upstairs which is super efficient but you will have your food within 10 minutes. The shop is actually part of one of GW’s undergrad dorms with some other shops(Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robbins, cafeteria style restaurant, and Potbelly’s). Thus, there are many undergrad students. Don’t let this scare you away though. There are many professionals looking for a quick bite as well. Plenty of seating in a large food court type setup.

I had the worst falafel wrap I’ve ever had in my life here at pita pit. This wrap was a total embarrassment to falafels wraps which to me are a delicious staple of middle eastern cuisine. The falafel itself was sandy, as if pita pit had made the mix/dough for it then forgotten to form it in actual falafels before putting it into my wrap. Moreover, that sand tasted disgusting, I had to spit out the falafel part of my wrap in public it was so inedible. Pita Pit is an complete and total embarrassment to middle eastern food.

Every time I’ve been here, the employees are so friendly. The food is great and they’ll try to make anything you want happily.

I love Pita Pit! Its like a Subway or Chipotle where you choose what you want in it and then the toppings. I always get the hummus pita with almost all the toppings in it. It isn’t apparent from the street. It’s located on the GW University campus in the Ivory Tower dormitory building. When you enter, proceed down the stairs into the basement area. There you will find Pita Pit among Dunkin’ Donuts, a delicatessen, and a convenience market.

I used to work at Pita Pit back where I come from, and this location is pretty damn clean. The staff isn’t exactly friendly, but they’re all right. The food tastes bland compared to the stuff I used to eat where I worked, but maybe that’s because I would literally be behind the lines making it. However, I won’t be going here again. I’ve been three times and each time have walked away with an awful, awful stomachache. I’m not sure why because I get the same thing most of the time.

The options were great. I got the falafel pita with lots of other ingredients. The falafel was a little odd tasting. However, overall it was pretty good. The employees were very nice, too.

I got a $ 6 for $ 10 groupon deal for this place and, well, decided to use it. Not only did the lady working practically yell at my face for using something that the RESTAURANT signed up for, but she also was extremely unfriendly in preparing my salad. She kept asking me if I was done choosing my toppings when the box was less than half full! It did take them about 3 minutes to figure out how to update the status of my groupon to «used,» but I think it was ridiculous how rude they were. Also, I got a pita and a salad and paid $ 3 extra… which means they should be grateful for the business! Don’t go here… there’s Campus Fresh right across the street!

I didn’t know there were Pita Pits anywhere near me! Anyway, just like the one I went to in Salem, Oregon, this one was fine. Nothing special, but not bad either.

Great fast food place. I love the gyro pita with tzatziki and feta cheese and lots of veggies. It’s subway style, but the guys there are happy to suggest veggies that goes well with whatever meat you ordered. This is certainly not authentic, but when you’re tired of subway, this is an excellent alternative!

I was on GW’s campus this afternoon and in need of a quick lunch. I ended up ordering a salad here and have to admit I was pleasantly surprised how satisfying it was – it was huge. The salad mix of romaine and spinach(not the default for salads so ask!) good, and thought they had a nice selection of unlimited veggies. Nothing gourmet here but a little better than Subway or Quizno’s. I also liked how they grilled-to-order the meat. The chicken was flavorful without adding any sauces. Reasonable priced and would go here again.

IMHO it was horrible. I got the souvlaki pita and it was completely flavorless. They also wanted to charge me for a paper bag, which i thought was ridiculous.

This is a convenient fast food place on GW’s campus to grab a quick, healthy bite. I enjoy the light chicken caesar pita. They also deliver, which is pretty convenient and unexpected for fast food. The downside is that they’re pretty slow, and the lines get crazy around lunchtime.

I have no clue what people are talking about when they say this is a Greek restaurant, but I will say, just get the Chicken Caeser wrap. If you’re on a health kick, yes, you will hate every second of eating the delicious, calorie-loaded, chicken stuffed, bacon rich pita. Otherwise, you will love it. Hey, it’s better than McD’s for«fast food.» Take it for what it is…

As someone who used to live across the street on Greek Row, I was a frequenter of Pita Pit during my college years. I pretty much only ever got the light chicken caesar, which features a reduced fat caesar dressing. Be prepared for a long line around lunch or dinner time, as about 700 students live in Ivory Tower and odds are a good amount of them come down here for dinner. Not to mention its proximity to the gym. Pitas are pretty basic, but they put the meat on the grill when you order, so it’s always hot and cooked well. You can pick the toppings you want(à la Subway) and then they roll it up and hand it to you. While you wait, play some Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo they have set up. That’s right, an NES. I’m in elementary school again!

As a sucker for Mediterranean cuisine, I was pleased to find this place and hoped it would be good. I like this place because it is a little different from your usual carryout. You can have your falafel(or lamb or whatever) sandwich any way you want it. They have a wide variety of toppings. I got a falafel sandwich. The pita bread is nothing to write home about. The falafel patties are decent. The tzatziki(yogurt sauce) was the most unauthentic tzatziki I’ve ever had, but it wasn’t half bad. I got baba ghanoush and pita bread to eat later on at home. They had a hard time finding the baba ghanoush because some numbnuts had mixed the hummus with the baba ghanoush. ALL of it. I could see that for myself. The employee kept pulling out containers and I could see they were all mixed. Instead of explaining this to me, he just put some in a container and that was that. I thought, «OK, I’m easygoing, I’ll try this.» Now, I love both hummus and baba, but not necessarily together. It tasted OK but I didn’t even finish it because what I wanted was baba, not hummus mixed with baba. Other than that, the employees are nice, and I love it how they have a little TV with a Nintendo hooked up at the counter so you can play Super Mario 3 while waiting for your food. Price: OK for what you get.

Gross. Don’t even bother. I used to like the chicken Caesar, but it became progressively oilier and accented by chicken fat the more I ordered it.

I’m not sure why Adam P. would have assumed a place called Pita Pit, decorated with anthropomorphic cartoon vegetables and meat, would have genuine greek, mediterraneian or middle eastern food. any way you look at it, its going to be fast-food style offerings. That being said, Pita Pit is quite tasty if you take it for what it is. I always get a chicken, feta, spinach, mushroom pita(with all the fixings cooked on the grill). I dont think the cost is that outrageous, nothing there costs $ 9 as far as I know. I work about 5 or 6 blocks away, but its worth the trip in my opinion.

A pita pocket crammed with stuff. I got almost everything in my chicken(double meat) pocket including pineapple and hot chili peppers, for under $ 9. Once I’d finished saying what I wanted, the friendly sandwichsmith lifted the pocket and tapped it so that all the goodies stayed inside. Then the pita was rolled for an envelope like seal. Yummy! This chain store is in the food court down in the dregs of the Ivory Tower building on G and 23rd streets in GW’s campus. Yeah, it’s a chain but the guys who work there are friendly and they make it like it is… pita sandwiches, all while Beyonce is boom booming!
