Saxbys Coffee

I’ve gone here 3 times in the last 6 months. Each time my coffee is so ridiculously hot that I can’t drink it for hours. I timed it today. Two hours after buying my coffee it’s sippable. Add to it the fact that the coffee tastes burnt I don’t think I’ll give this place another chance. Two stars for creative drink menu.

Difficult to find if you’re unfamiliar with the area. Their cold brew with a splash of soy and hazelnut is pretty good especially during this hot day!

Walked into Saxbys at 7:30 am – there was literally one guy at the counter. He took my order and a few others. I used the app machine and it turned green so I waited. When I asked him why he had not started my order, a woman with a huge head of braids/​dreads came in, apparently running late, and after speaking with him for about 5 minutes, told me that although my card on the Saxbys app had flashed green on their machine, I wasn’t charged and their machine wasn’t working so «oh well.» The guy backed her up although he never told me when she wasn;t there but just said I wasn;t charged after she said it. At this point, 20 minutes have passed, it’s 7:52 and I am just trying to have coffee to bring to an 8am meeting. After their demeanor, complete lack of customer service and nastiness, I just left. I don;t know if they lied and I was actually charged or not (strongly suspect that as she was late and appeared not to want to help customers but to get the line down). No one wants to get coffee from folks with attitudes and who treat customers poorly. This place sucks. I will make the trek across the street to Starbucks as this place is rinky-​dink.

the espresso was good. from the appearance of the baked goods and the taste of the espresso, this place in downstairs food court area seems better then Suckbucks and I will come again.

There is normally a long line here in the mornings. Why? Because it is popular? No, because the service here is inept and sloooow.
Average coffee and costlier than other options in the Reagan Building. Oh, and the bagels really suck. In short, this place makes me miss the Dunkin Donuts that was near my old office.

I don’t know how this compares to other D.C. coffee chains, but this is the very first time I’ve come across a Saxbys and am totally addicted to their flavored lattes!
I also loved the fact that they can do iced lattes with the right amount of ice instead of blended drinks (which they also separately have on their menu). I tried the cinnamon bear and really liked it!
