1. Good service, although there was only one other table occupied when we dined at 7pm on a Tuesday evening. 2. Good variety on the menu although we felt the fish was slightly overcooked. 3. Overall overpriced for what was only above average food. You’re paying over the odds for the location, which is very nice.

Came here for my 22nd birthday with about 15 guest and my parents and had excellent service. My name was specialized onto the menu and everything we each ordered was amazing! I had the ahi tuna and we ordered about every appetizer,(the oysters are fantastic!). I am coming this week for restaurant week and am very excited.

Raw bar was great, blue crab cakes appetizer was outstanding and scallops with mushroom risotto completed a great meal.

Excellent meal and service. Best crab cakes I’ve ever had. Thick and loaded with crab just lightly breaded. Tuna appetizer and shrimp scampi were perfect. The waiter was professional and catered to all of our needs without being overly pushy. Will return when back in town.

Came here for a business lunch and wasn’t blown away nor disappointed. Our res was at 1230 but when we got there the place was literally a ghost town. Cute little restaurant right along the canal, if the weather was perfect I definitely would have opted to sit outside. Derive was fair but nothing extraordinary for the steep prices. He misheard a coworker and came out with still bottled water, which is fine but this deterred us from ordering additional drinks. Menu has large portions, the Chesapeake salad by far seemed to be the most popular choice in the restaurant although the dressing was a little heavy. The true kid in me opted for the fish and chips, a little too greasy, but so so for a nice place. Filled up later into lunch. I don’t know if I’ll become a regular but a sure bet if you’re into seafood. The happy hour menu seems decent. Especially for oysters! The dead atmosphere was somewhat of a bummer. They do validate for valet, always good in Georgetown!

I love Sea Catch! I am surprised to read some not-so-great reviews, because personally, every time I’ve gone, it has been a great experience. I have been 3 – 4 times for happy hour, which is a great value. You get their delicious oysters and a few other appetizers for a great discounted price, what’s not to like about that?! And I’ve also been 3 times for dinner, all ‘special occasion’ since for us anyway, it’s definitely on the higher end! We just went on Friday night for my hubby’s dad’s birthday. We started with a dozen of the Chesapeake oysters and pleeenty of bread(ha, legit my mother in law ordered 3 refills of the bread and butter lol YOLO). For our entrees 3 of us ordered the ahi tuna(ha, we’ve all had it before and it is simply amazing!) and the 4th got the scallops with risotto. The ahi tuna is definitely a fantastic choice! It is just so. good. The rice pilaf and leeks it comes with are also so good, the sauce they put on it all is delicious. The scallops were also delish, my hubby said(well and I tried a bite of one, they were!) but he wasn’t too impressed with the risotto, said it was rather flavorless. We told our waitress we were celebrating a birthday and then ordered a slice of the chocolate cake to celebrate. She brought the cake out with candles and included a slice of red velvet on the house! The service is really top notch at this place, as you’d expect. As we were eating our desert the manager swung by and offered us a post dinner drink on her! We opted for champagne and toasted to a great evening! Sea Catch is a lovely, elegant restaurant and it’s definitely a great ‘special occasion’ restaurant! But also don’t forget their great HH!

We came here last night for dinner after being recommended it by the front desk at our hotel. It was a cute area and the menu looked good(over-priced), but good– but the food ended up being beyond awful. We both got wine which was fine. Then we got crab cakes to start, the first one came out ice cold so they had to re make it and bring out a new one that was only barely room temp. For entrees I got the scallops with risotto($ 36) and my boyfriend got the shrimp scampi($ 28). The scallops were SO tough and it was rice on my plate, not risotto! The shrimp scampi was dull and the shrimp were overcooked like they had been laying around for hours. Overall the food was awful. I’m not sure what was going on in the kitchen but it was a fail. We only had one night in DC to eat and Im sad we wasted it on this place. I never do this, but I’d advise to stay far away.

Very nice back deck for the nice weather months. Nice quality and tasty food. Terrible service. She say the food down and never checked on us again. Too pricey for such terrible service.

Everything is either overcooked or no favor… Not worth the money. Only bright spot is the service and there is no wait to get a table on a sat night…

Unexpectedly wonderful. Nothing like the nightmare of M Street. Sitting along the canal you can actually hear nature(plus the occasional roar of a jet). While other reviews suggest Legal Sea Foods or McCormick & Schmick’s, we went here specifically because it’s not a national chain. The oysters were excellent and fresh. The grilled seafood was perfectly done. Service was efficient and friendly.

The service was poor. We waited 10 minutes just for water. After we ordered it was 45 minutes before we got our food without a single sighting of our waitress. When the food finally came it was mediocre at best. No one was impressed. Our party ordered the lobster roll, fish & chips, Mahi Mahi, spring salad with scallops, and crab cake sandwich. The best was the Mahi Mahi. Fish & chips were quite disappointing. Definitely would not recommend.

Down to the Management… WOW! If you haven’t gone, pay them a visit. After a frustrating and rather embarrassing lunch incident(which was my last review) I came here very last minute. It was around 250PM and we requested to be sat outside, the set up was quaint and inviting. FOOD: Their lunch was pretty interesting and per the usual I could not decide what to get. So we settled on 3 appetizers. Tuna Tar Tar — Gets 5 stars; it was beautifully presented and gone in a flash! Crab Cakes — Gets 4.5 stars: they should really serve 2 mini cakes it tricks us into thinking we have more(yes I’m being greedy) it was superb and the coleslaw salad tasted so fresh it’s sans mayo. Oysters — Gets 5 stars: I forgot the name of the sweet one BUTOMG fresh and just plain out delicious Main Dish — Gets 5 stars: Their lunch special which was a DELICIOUS mussel, salmon, and lobster sauce linguini. I had left overs and am not going to lie it tasted even BETTER after 6 hours. CUSTOMERSERVICE: I don’t recall our server’s name but she defiantly knew her stuff and was very attentive. She did not let my water cup go empty and ensured to clear out plates the moment they were licked clean. So, we ordered the main dish rather late and she informed us the kitchen was closed but that she would talk to her Manager. Mike, the Manager, came out and said«Our chief is gone for the day but please let me know what you want and I will go back to the kitchen and cook it myself» WOW! Never have I EVER been presented with this option. EVER! Not only did that take us a back but truly put a smile on our faces. To think that a manager would actually go back and deliver with no exceptions is truly 5STARS in itself. THANKYOUAGAINMIKEFORDOINGTHIS! You truly exceeded our exceptions. We can’t say that for many things nowadays. We went with the delicious linguini. He clearly did well, considering I keep calling it delicious haha. All in all the last minutes and unexpected stop to Sea Catch Restaurant was the most enjoyable one I’ve had in a while. Great food. EXCELLENT Management!

While visiting DC my wife and I went to dinner at Sea Catch. The atmosphere is nice but not inviting. We sat for an usually long time before being greeted by our server especially since the restaurant was not that busy. We sat even longer considering how slow they were for our appetizers to arrive. The food and the service were both mediocre. My wife ordered an appetizer of oysters, clams in white wine sauce, and a grilled lobster tail. The lobster was over cooked but edible and the clams were so over cooked that they had to be sent back. I had the Sea Catch fettuccine. This was good but not impressive. The absolutely worst thing was the french onion crab soup. This was so bland and tasteless it was ridiculous.

We ate at Sea Catch Restaurant for dinner two times in four days because our food was outstanding! Both nights I had the Grapefruit & Hazelnut Salad along with the Fried Cod, Shrimp, and Scallops. My husband had Oysters on the Half Shell and the New York Strip Steak(1st night) and the Prime Rib(2nd night). The food was fantastic at both meals. The wait staff was very friendly and quite efficient! On Sat. May 2nd we arrived at 8:45 for our 9:00pm reservation. Upon arrival we were offered seating outside, which was too cool. When we requested our table, we were told it would be 9:30. After asking why we didn’t have a table, we were told there had been too many walk-ins. When we insisted we be seated, ¾ of the restaurant was empty, and remained so the rest of the meal. As we left we ask for the gentleman’s name and title who had been so rude… General Manager — Ken Chase. We had great food(One of the best salads I have ever eaten) but will never return… lots of great food AND great service in Georgetown… thanks for nothing Ken!

I’ve visited Sea Catch twice, with completely different experiences. Last year, I went with my parents who were in town, and we liked the place. The location, situated on the canal in Georgetown, was nice, and the service and food were both very good. I ordered the seared tuna and thought it was delicious, with general agreement around the table that the seafood was solid. Because of that, I decided to return a few weeks ago, with my aunt and uncle who were in town. We may have caught the restaurant on an «off» mid-week night… but it was a mess. We waited at the«hostess station» for five minutes(!!) before finally wandering the restaurant in search of someone to seat us. Our food took almost 30 minutes to come out and when it did, it was placed on a tray next to our table and lay there for a couple minutes while we wondered if we should retrieve it ourselves. An appetizer never made it to the table. Glasses were dirty and had to be returned. My aunt’s «medium-well» steak was red in the middle. I got the same tuna, but it wasn’t the same — rather than«seared,» I thought it was cooked too slowly and too evenly throughout — kinda bizarre. The whole night was kinda bizarre, and not really acceptable for the price. It may be a bit harsh, because I did enjoy it the first time around and I guess restaurants can have«off» nights, but I’m going with 2 stars — the positive experience was over a year ago, and I was embarrassed to have picked Sea Catch for my out of town relatives to buy me an expensive and below-par meal! Above all, I wouldn’t return on a weeknight. Something about the«basement» atmosphere makes the place a bit depressing when it’s not bustling.

Three stars vs four for excellent brunch/lunch menu but horrible service! Went here on a Sunday afternoon and decided to go in after spotting checking out the menu options and outdoor seating. Food was excellent except for the clam chowder(It was nothing special). However, The Service was horrible and Would prevent me from coming back. My glass of water went unfilled the whole time. I think we waited about an hour for our food and another ½hr for the check. Slowest Service I’ve ever experienced!

Location is awesome, the staff was awesome, but I just didn’t enjoy my meal. My date enjoyed his steak, but my seafood pasta and oysters left a lot to be desired. The Crème brûlée was ok though.

Open table reservation FTW! We came here after my awesome BF proposed to me and we had the best experience. Our waiter was just so lovely and polite and HONESTLY made me feel like I was in Italy again… Not that this place is Italian but just the water outside, the way the restaurant looked, I felt like I was dining in Venice! We started off with the oysters which were superb! I could have had that as a meal. I got crab cake appetizer as my meal, which was super on point, the BF got a whole sea bass. He had ate a lot of whole fish in DR and this reminded him of that trip too. We were just in heaven at this place. We finished the meal off with crème brûlée, which was very good. The sugary layer on top was not too heavy or hard at all which I thought was perfect and the crème portion was so creamy and heavenly!

Very disappointed with my experience. The online dinner menu and menu on M Street prior to walking in is a different menu offered when you sit. Although there are similarities, there especially are no grilled fishes starting for $ 19. When I asked the waitress she said I must have been looking at the lunch menu. I looked at the online menu and walked out to M Street to confirm and I was correct. Given I was with my husband and we had nice seats outside I didn’t want to make an issue. We ordered the crab cake to start, it was not hot, it is not a shared appetizer and the slaw that accompanies it has excessive vinegar and thick red onion. It was so intense it left a deep aroma of onion. The cake itself had a decent amount of crab. The branzino fish was nicely grilled but lacked salt. I ordered the grilled shrimp, it had a fair serving of shrimp however there was a cold salsa under the dry mash potatoes it felt like the mash came out the fridge. Two stars reflect fair service, nice seating, decent meal however the prices are outrageous for the food. It’s not a 4 star restaurant but I guess it’s Georgetown Prices. I’m more disappointed with the inaccurate menus, it’s misleading. I wouldn’t recommend and I wouldn’t come back. Pretty upsetting I thought I could get a grilled fish for $ 19…they actually started at $ 26 – 39!
