Love Sonya! So happy to have found someone who cuts and styles my hair exactly how I like it.

I have been to tons of places in the past 3 years and, although no disasters, I have paid way too much for nothing special. My hair is fairly easy and I generally leave judgment in the hands of the hairdresser to do something with it. I always leave disappointed and broke. Enter Shawn and Charles and my finally found hairdresser in DC — Sonya. My expectations were low, but my hair needed to be cut. Sonya is awesome. She gave me the perfect cut with beautiful layers and long bangs. I loved it — but even better, I received tons of compliments on my hair and how beautifully the layers fell and how nice it framed my face for weeks. I went back to Sonya and she has done it again. I have finally found my hairdresser in DC! I highly recommend her.

I used a Groupon here. Worst haircut of my life. Horrible styling, and cut so short that I can’t pull it back or have it redone (even though I asked for the cut to be below my shoulder line). Very very unsatisfied with the experience and the haircut overall.

To get a good men haircut is so difficult around here!!!

I go here to see Sonya, who I followed from Macomb Salon. She always gives a great heart cut (and she does color too!!) and always gives loyal customers great deals (for DC prices). She also does my eyebrows, and they look way better now than they ever have. I highly recommend this Salon, if you are in the neighborhood don’t go elsewhere and get crap service while being ripped off!

Sonya at the Shawn and Charles Salon is most amazing! The best haircut that I have ever had. Sonya’s personality is so sweet, skills most meticulous, and prices very reasonable! She will be in charge of my hair for MANY years to come. I would overwhelmingly recommend her to anyone not 110% satisfied with their current hair style and needs!

My haircut was fine at Shawn and Charles, though the atmosphere seems a little like they mostly cater to the over-​75 crowd, I had no complaints about the cut. The 1 star is a reflection of the fact that they charge $ 45 extra for a blow dry after cutting your hair, and did not ask me about that before drying it. When I asked why my total was so much higher than I expected, the man (the owner I believe) was very snotty to me and acted as if I was a shut-​in for not realizing that the blow dry was this much extra. The practice seemed very deceptive.
I ended up paying, with tip, almost $ 100 for a mediocre hair cut in a rundown salon, which, even by DC standards, is outrageous. If you’re willing to walk out with sopping wet hair, then the hair cut can be a good deal, but in the future, I will go someplace where the haircuts are a little extra and include the blow dry, so I can have the best of both worlds.
