Do you love the Jersey Shore? Ever wonder what the phrase«fist pumping like champions» entails? Well come to STIR to find out! I have never seen so many grown ass men wearing sunglasses fist pumping to no end in a club before. WHYWHYWHYWHY? How can they possibly see anything, it’s actually quite amazing. I would totally face plant if I tried to fist pump standing on a couch with shades on. What would possess a grown man to do this? Do yourself a favor and watch the«Jersey Shore» on TV, at least it’s free.

After going to a near by club and finding out that there was a $ 20 dollar cover we decided to look at other options. As others were entering Stir trance/Hip-hop music poured through the door, which i actually like, so i had high hopes. As we enter the club, we get drinks that were moderately priced $ 9-$ 12 bucks. We look around and we are like, ‘is this it, where is the rest of the club.’ Most DC clubs are a bit narrow and a bit cramped, but usually there are a couple more floors, and or usually a roof top to smoke a jack on. Nope, that was it, just a room about the size of your parents basement growing up, therefore reminding me of my cousin’s Quinceañera last year, minus the random drunk girls girrating on the poles lining the middle of the dance floor.. There was a strange mix of «out of towners» in sweaters and sneakers and guys in suits, so not sure what the dress code was. I will say the DJ was pretty good, Kudos my friend, to bad the electrical system wasn’t working as the music completely shut off at times, and people had to improvise with clapping, hoots and hollering, classy. Lastly the main reason why I will never go to this club again, as i tryed to make the best of things and dance there was some weird guy with a mob dragging it around the club the WHOLE time leaving a stinky stench of wet spoiled mop water where ever he went. As I was dancing with my b/f he even tapped him on the shoulder, pointed to the floor between us motioned to us that we needed to stop so that he could mop! WTF. By the way it was $ 10 bucks to get in, not worth it don’t waste your time

Came here Saturday night for a girlfriends birthday party. I had the best time! Which is a rare occurrence for me at clubs/lounges since they get overpacked and I get into bitchy mode when I keep getting bumped by 21 year old half dressed drunks. There was a good crowd there that night, not too young, not too old. Not overly crowded so getting drinks and going to the bathroom was a cinch. The music was awesome Saturday night. I like the table service area, its against the left wall and has a lot of room for each table. My only gripe is that my feet are killing me from dancing all night!

What can I say… I’m not a big fan of clubs anymore… but my friends still are… I can only tolerate it for an hour or two… and luckily since we rolled in so late… it just met my limit. I have to admit the music the DJ was playing was pretty good. And it really is who you are with that makes the place anyway… so this past Saturday night was great with our fun group of friends… doubt it would be that much fun with a date or just one other friend. The place is tiny… it would be better if there was more space to dance.

Came to Stir for the first time for a friends friends birthday. I really don’t have any good things to say about this place. I find myself here thinking about the night and I really can’t find one single good thing to say about it. If I had to say one good thing it would probably be that I was able to get in for free because a friends name was on guestlist. After that, this place is not a place I would ever come back to or ever recommend. Went on a Saturday, $ 10 for women and $ 20 for men. The place in a nutshell… is like a nutshell. Small and cramped(with a lot of people). Drinks are a bit pricey, borderline expensive. I find music a big win/lose factor and Stir definitely gets a huge LOSS. I like to listen and dance to anything and everything so I am very easy to please in that department. Played a good selection of music but they literally play each song for approximately 30 – 40 seconds and it goes into a different song. So just when you’re getting excited/into a song, it goes into another song. Not only that but the music was pretty much ran on a playlist. When the playlist was over it would just re-start hence hearing the same exact song mixed the same exact way 3 – 4 times in a span of an hour and a half. Would not recommend.

I think Stir is alright! They typically have open bar on sundays from 10 – 11 and after that they have open bar for ladies from 11 – 12! So if you are looking for free drinks, and drunk women this is your place. But its tiny!!! and it gets really hot in there! But it was jumpin in there the last time i went, which was a couple of weekends ago. Mya was there so it was packed! VIP was so packed we left to go on the regular dance floor. It was crazy and I had a pretty good time!

We stumbled into STIR thinking it was Indeblu after a happy hour gone long at Bar Louie. Half the group was rich. Half the group was poor and/or cheap but the majority was rich so we forced the poor to come in. To our lucky surprise, it was open bar for the ladies until 11pm! WHOOHOO. Yes, they were rail Vodka drinks using the cheapest Vodka ever but hell… it’s FREE. The bartender was really cool. I asked if her boobs were real and she giggled and said, «nope» and we chatted it up about how cool fake boobs are. The club itself is pretty small with a lot of bottle tables. Minimums here are $ 500. Because we were with the cheap/poor crowd, they didn’t want to contribute to the bottle table. Boo. The DJ on deck that night was Ed Bruce. He rocked it out. Very eclectic style of music and kept the night fun. The crowd was diverse. Mostly the striped shirt guys of DC on the prowl. Lots of young good looking girls. Even the token douche bag old man in the Ed Hardy shirt. We all had fun dancing around and being ridiculous. The night came crashing down when these girls told us they were high on drugs and that the head of security had sold it to them. My friend works for a special agency that specializes in drug enforcement(you can guess which one) and she has a legal/moral/ethical obligation to investigate. So she asked the security guard if this was true. He said it was not. She stated her source and explained this was all a courtesy to save HIS ass. He basically got an attitude with her and said«Fuck you. Go call the police» So I went outside with her to call the police. The manager got involved and the head of security came outside and was yelling at me, even running into the street to get the MPD officer. I tried to explain that this was a courtesy that people are saying you’re selling drugs so instead of yelling at ME/US why don’t you yell at the dumb girls inside making these accusations. He kept screaming at me. Whatever. What a buzz kill and I told the manager our group of 6 is taking their business to Josephine(bluff). Manger tried to make it right by buying us a round of shots but if what the girls said was true and he did push drugs, we wanted no part of any drinks for this establishment. GHB anyone? Bottom line I had a blast here but their«head of security» was completely out of control. It ruined our evening. We just wanted to dance to cool music and enjoy our free vodka. Boo.

So, I didn’t have a terrible time here but I have had much more fun at other places. The music was pretty good on Sat. night(hip hop night) and it was nice and loud – perfect for dancing. It was sort of dead for a while though and it wasn’t until about 1am it got hopping. I got there around 11pm, which is way early for me, but my friend and I signed up for a guest list that got you no cover before 11. Hence, early arrival. However, the money I saved on a cover I drank. I didn’t think the drinks were over-priced but I’m used to paying $ 10/drink I guess(NYC scars you for life when it comes to cost). The bartenders were all nice(although at one point in the night all of them were texting on their phones… kind of funny… they looked just as bored as we were) and the people there weren’t so bad. The décor left something to be desired, as it sort of seemed as if they just stopped before they were finished. It felt like someone’s basement they jazzed up a little bit to entertain guests. The tables were cool though and had built-in ice-buckets and were illuminated from the bottom. Overall, it was ok and my friend and I had a decent time. Maybe I’ll go back since it’s so close to me but I’ll prob check out a few more places before I do.

Interesting people watching — that’s about the only good thing to be said. To echo previous reviewers’ sentiments: too loud, too crowded, too expensive, and the bartenders were both mean and slow. I won’t be heading back anytime soon.

The place is very small and music is too loud. Drinks are overpriced, but they have lots of bouncers if like bouncers :)) Would be hard to call this place friendly. will not come back…

Don’t even begin to waste your time with the pretentious people who work at stir. If you see the sign that says STIR and some European looking people standing out front smoking cigarettes and no line to get in, RUNAWAY. This place by all accounts was horrible. The bouncers would not let my group of friends and I in last night, they were giving us such a hard time… I figured, well it is Saturday night and its almost midnight so they are probably pretty crowded…(me looking on the bright side). When we finally haggled about the price of the table to get in we had to have our ID’s checked twice, wrist bands put on, a guy checking our wrist bands… only to walk into the door and find the place EMPTY!(I took a picture on my iphone, check it out) … maybe 20 people(all of which were middle aged, wearing t-shirts & just the kind of people you wouldn’t want to go to a nice club with). For the amount of crap they put you through to get into this place, for the price and for their attitude I would give them 0 stars if I could.

Ouch! 1 star across the board? The Unilocal Gods are not smiling down on Stir. I was there on a Saturday for a going away party. Drinks — Overpriced… what else? But Indebleu’s lounge always makes efforts to reward girls for dropping by. Free drink ticket on certain saturdays and groups of 6 – 8 girls get a bottle of champagne. Crowd — Diverse, Good looking, 20-somethings crowd. The promoters seemed to be all over the place — entertaining their groups. I wonder if they make any money from table reservations with all the promoters taking up the tables. I didn’t think it was overly pretentious — I was expecting worse from the reviews. Music — You gotta love the drum assemble — which was passed down from old Tantra. It is probably the closest to live music some of these club hoppers will get. The Dj kept the crowd dancing all night with Top 40, Hip Hop, MashUps, a little Reggae and International. Décor — I actually appreciate the renovations they did to Indebleu’s lounge. The VIP area used to be sunken in, making the main area very long and narrow. But now everything is at the same level… making for a lot more dancing space. I think everything is white now too. The Door — We had a connection so got in without a problem, so I can’t comment on how difficult they are there — but if you get there before 12… I dont think you would have a problem.

The place is beyond tiny — in a phrase i like to describe it as a spot about the same size as Kimora Lee’s Closet. Its one of the many lounges in DC that tries to present itself as exclusive and lux when its just tiny and very pretentious with not enough room for everyone to try to be flashy. The«vip» areas are a big fat hilarious joke, and food — well if you want some food good luck trying to get a server or someone at the bar to order it from. My friend and I went for a happy hour and this was after the open bar had ended so it should’ve been a little easier to get a bartender and at least order our drinks? Uh, no. décor is a bore and the crowd thinks they’re better than everyone else. PASS!!!
